Abstract

This research aimed to improve the problem-solving abilities and creativity of students in class XI TITL-5 at SMK Negeri 2 Medan in learning mathematics through the implementation of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model. The research design used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two cycles of action. The research subjects were 30 students of class XI TITL-5. The instruments used included problem-solving ability tests, creativity questionnaires, Lesson Plans (RPP), Student Worksheets (LKPD), and observation sheets. The results showed that the application of the STAD cooperative learning model could significantly improve students' problem-solving abilities and creativity. In cycle I, the average problem-solving ability of students was 58.78, and the average creativity was 51.33. After the actions in cycle II, the average problem-solving ability increased to 81.03, and the average creativity reached 75.16. Thus, the STAD cooperative learning model proved effective in improving the problem-solving abilities and creativity of students in class XI TITL-5 at SMK Negeri 2 Medan.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes through the problem-based learning (PBL) model using Curipod media. The research subjects consisted of 31 students of class XI TKR 4 at SMK Negeri 2 Medan, with data concentration measurement material. This type of research is classroom action research (PTK), which is carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Based on the results of mathematics learning in the pre-cycle, it was found that only 8 out of 31 students or 25.8% achieved learning completeness, with a class average of 61.74. After implementing the PBL learning model using Curipod media in cycle I, the number of students who achieved learning mastery increased to 23 out of 31 students or 74.2%, with a class average of 76.68. At the end of cycle II, the number of students who achieved learning completion increased again to 28 out of 31 students or 90.3%, with a class average of 84.87. This shows an increase in student mathematics learning outcomes from pre-cycle to cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the problem-based learning (PBL) model using Curipod media in class XI TKR 4 SMK Negeri 2 Medan can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is conducted with the intention of enhancing the learning outcomes of students in class XI-TITL 4 at SMA Negeri 2 Medan through the implementation of a problem-based learning methodology. Two cycles of four stages—planning, doing, observing, and reflecting make up the classroom action research methodology. Thirty individuals, all from class XI-TITL 4, were the subjects of this study. Tests, observations, and documentation are the means of data gathering, while descriptive analysis is the tool of choice for data analysis. According to the study's findings, pupils' average mathematics learning outcomes also improved throughout the two cycles, rising from 70.83 to 79.48. Aside from that, cycle I had a completion rate of 57% and cycle II had a completion rate of 87% for student learning. The study that has been conducted suggests that instructional materials that employ a problem-based learning approach can enhance the learning outcomes for students.
