Abstract

Aphrodisiac is a material that used to increase libido or sexual desire. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of aphrodisiac on bitter melon fruit (Momordica charantia L.) and garlic (Allium sativum L.) in male white mice (Mus musculus L.) and at what concentration the combination of bitter melon and garlic had the best aphrodisiac effect. Bitter melon powder and garlic were macerated with 70% ethanol for 4 x 24 hours. In this study, ICC (Introduction, Climbing, Coitus) method was used in 25 male mice divided into 5 groups. Group I as negative control was given aquadest, group II was given a single dose of bitter melon, group III a single dose of garlic, Group IV, and Group V were given a combination of bitter melon extract and garlic with ½ combination 980 mg/kg body weight: 150mg /kg body weight, Group IV, and V were given a combination of bitter melon extract and garlic with 1 combination 1960 mg/kg body weight: 300 mg/kg body weight. Each group was given oral test materials, group I, II, III, IV, and V was given extracts according to the dose for 2 hours. Then those observed and calculated the number of Introduction, Climbing, and Coitus. The results showed that the combination of bitter melon extract and garlic group V (1960 mg/kg body weight: 300 mg/kg body weight) had the best aphrodisiac activity compared to other extract combination activities, and all extract combinations showed significantly different aphrodisiac effects.

Abstract

Daun kelor (Moringa pterygosperma Gaertn.) dan daun lamtoro (Laucaena leucocephala Lmk.) memiliki efek analgetik. Analgetik dapat digunakan secara kombinasi, karena dapat memberikan efek sinergisme, meminimalkan efek samping dan menurunkan dosis masing-masing obat. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui konsentrasi terbaik kombinasi ekstrak daun kelor dan daun lamtoro sebagai analgesik. Metode geliat digunakan sebagai uji aktivitas analgetik pada mencit putih (Mus musculus L.) jantan. Pengujian pada 7 kelompok perlakuan, yaitu kontrol negatif (Na-CMC 1%), kontrol positif (parasetamol 1,3mg/20gBB), kelompok perlakuan 1 (ekstrak daun kelor 50mg/kgBB), kelompok perlakuan 2 (ekstrak daun lamtoro 27mg/20gBB), kelompok perlakuan 3 (kombinasi dosis tunggal), kelompok perlakuan 4 (kombinasi setengah dosis tunggal), dan kelompok perlakuan 5 (kombinasi seperempat dosis tunggal dari masing-masing ekstrak). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kombinasi seperempat dosis tunggal memiliki persentase daya analgetik tertinggi dari dosis kombinasi lainnya dan sebanding dengan pemberian dosis tunggal ekstrak. Kombinasi ekstrak dengan dosis kecil memiliki efek yang sama dengan dosis yang besar menunjukkan adanya efek sinergis.

Abstract

Beluntas plants generally grow wild in dry areas and have enormous benefits in treatment such as eliminating body odor, increasing appetite, overcoming pain and reducing fever. Beluntas leaves contain flavonoids which help the process of relieving pain. Pain is an uncomfortable sensory and emotional feeling related to (threatening) tissue damage. This study aimed to determine whether there is an analgesic effect of beluntas leaves extract syrup. This study was experimental using 25 mice which were divided into 5 groups. The negative control group was given aquades, positive control group was given paracetamol, and 3 experimental groups were given beluntas leaves extract syrup, each with a dose of 150mg/kgBB, 300 mg/kgBB, and 600mg/kgBB. Testting of analgesic effect was conducted by giving pain to test animals, in the form of hot stimulus with temperature of 550C. The response of the mice observed was the licking of the feet and or jumping. Observations were made for 1 minute. Observations were made before giving the test substance, and then successively in the 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes after administration of the test substance. The results showed the number of responses to pain stimuli in the group of mice given beluntas leaves extract syrup began to decline in the 30 minute and continued to give effect in the 60 minute. In the 90th minute the analgesic effect began to decline, but it still showed the analgesic effect.At the second and third concentrations (300mg/kgBW : 600mg/kgBW) syrup of beluntas leaf extract (Pluchea indica (L.) Less.) had the best analgesic effect.

Abstract

Avocado seeds contain secondary metabolite compounds that have many benefits such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and vitamin E which can be utilized for skin care. Body scrub is a skin care preparation in the form of a liquid emulsion consisting of an oil phase and an aqueous phase with coarse grains that are useful for moisturizing, cleaning the surface of the skin pores, removing dead skin cells as well as being a carrier for efficacious substances into the skin. This study aims to see a body scrub preparation formulation of avocado seed ethanol extract that meets the physical quality requirements and determination of the potential irritation of body scrubs. The method of making avocado seed ethanol extract is done by maceration and remaceration. Four formulations were made, namely F0 base, F1 1%, F2 5% and F3 10%. The physical evaluation carried out was organoleptical test, pH test, homogeneity test, spreadability test, adhesion test, viscosity test, and irritation test. The results showed that the body scrub preparation made had met the requirements of the physical quality test and the value of the degree of irritation of the body scrub was 0.3-1.3 which means very mild irritation to mild irritation.

Abstract

Kolesterol merupakan lipid sterol yang diperlukan untuk untuk mensintesis berbagai hormon steroid. Namun ketika kadarnya di dalam darah berlebihan akan mengakibatkan penyumbatan pada pembuluh darah, yang dapat menyebabkan stroke dan penyakit kardiovaskular, seperti penyakit hipertensi dan jantung koroner. Pencarian agen pencegah hiperlipidemia yang berasal dari alam sangat giat dilakukan. Hai ini dikarenakan lebih mudah didapat serta memiliki efek samping yang kecil sehingga relatif aman dibandingkan obat – obat sintetik. Tumbuhan merupakan sumber senyawa kimia, banyak diantaranya berpotensi sebagai bahan dasar obat. Salah satu diantaranya adalah kentang Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian perasan kentang terhadap penurunan kadar kolesterol dalam darah mencit jantan galur swiss. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 4 kelompok penelitian, perasan kentang dosis 0,832g/20gBB, 0,416g/20gBB, dan 0,208g/20gBB serta kelompok kontrol negatif. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pemberiaan perasan kentang terhadap kelompok perlakuan dosis  0,832g/20gBB, 0,416g/20gBB, dan 0,208g/20kgBB, masing masing sebesar 12,20±1,74mg/dl; 20,20±1,69mg/dl; dan 49,00±3,39mg/dl.
