Abstract

Kata kunci: Bioteknologi, isolasi DNA, guru Biologi, kithcen kiAbstractTeaching modern biotechnology in the high school curriculum requires teacher competence in visualizing DNA as genetic material. This requires skills and equipment that make it easier for students to observe genetic material through the DNA isolation process. This community service activity aims to improve the competence of teachers through DNA isolation training. Participants in this activity are SMA, MA and MTs teachers in the Gowa Regency area, South Sulawesi. The activity stages include theoretical presentations, demonstrations, DNA isolation exercises, discussions and questions and answers. The results of this service activity show that the training participants were able to increase their understanding of DNA concepts or theories. Apart from that, participants are skilled at practicing DNA isolation using simple materials and equipment at low cost. Through this training, it is hoped that teachers' skills and experience can be implemented in the teaching and learning process in schools. This activity is expected to have an impact on efforts to increase students' interest in learning Biotechnology as well as teachers' skills regarding how to isolate the DNA of living things.Key words: Biotechnology, DNA isolation, Biology teacher, kithcen ki,
