Abstract

Abstract

The processing of small fish into fish sauce is an innovative process in the sustainable utilization of fisheries resources. Groundfish, which is generally considered as waste fish -as it does not have high economic value, can be transformed into value-added products such as fish sauce. This study aims to explore and develop the production process of fish sauce from low-cost fish, as well as to analyse the economic potential of this low-cost fish. The research method involves the stages of selecting suitable low-cost fish, processing the fish into soy sauce raw materials, and making fish sauce through fermentation. The economic analysis involved estimating production costs, selling prices, and potential profits. The Kalibaru Subdistrict, Cilincing, North Jakarta has great potential in the development of the fisheries sector. To improve the sustainability of fisheries in this area, innovation is key. One of the potentials from the Kalibaru Subdistrict is groundfish. The processing of raw fish into fish sauce allows for a more efficient and sustainable utilization of fishery resources. Abstract

Gibraltar becomes one of the issues that emerged during the Brexit negotiation in the British withdrawal from the European Union. Spain becomes the inseparable actor in discussing the issue due to its long-standing interference in Gibraltar. Spain used the long process of Brexit to provoke and predispose Gibraltar to its advantages. This study aims to explore the framing of Spain’s role in the context of Brexit negotiations concerning Gibraltar by analysing a selection of British and French news articles. A discourse-historical analysis is also used by analysing speeches delivered by the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. From the framing and discourse-historical analysis, this study found that Spain has become the inseparable actor and has been framed in negative terms concerning the Gibraltar issue. Spain appears consistently in the corpus that is used in this study and is mentioned to attempt bringing back Gibraltar as a Spanish territory. The Chief Minister of Gibraltar also referred to Spain as a threat and treated Spain as the aggressor. In addition, this study adopts a constructivist perspective to bring insights into the sentiments behind the framing and discourses that emerged during the Brexit negotiations, especially on the involvement of Spain in discussing the Gibraltar issue. Abstract

Ceuta and Melilla are two enclaves that belong to Spain in Morocco and have become the contact points of the irregular migrants coming from Africa that are attempting to reach the European continent. The enclaves have utilized innovative technology and barbed wire, but immigrant crises have occurred over the years. Despite the crises, the Spanish and Moroccan governments choose to perform a semi-permeable border. This article explains the semi-permeable border using the liberal institutional theory. This article argues that a semi-permeable border is chosen by the Spanish and Moroccan governments to fulfill their mutual self-interests. The Spanish government agrees to perform a semi-permeable border to retain the symbolic border of the region. The blurring overlap in the enclaves has put the Spanish government to use help from the European Union to conduct security measures in the region. The Moroccan government agrees to perform a semi-permeable border to retain its influence over the enclaves and uses the immigrant crises as a bargaining chip for the European Union. The European Union maximizes the performance of a semi-permeable border to pursue its interest, which is to conduct the Euro-Mediterranean Free Trade Agreement.
