Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the role of the Depok City Regional Government regarding consumer protection for non-halal information on food products traded in Depok City. This research was conducted using normative legal research method with statutory approach and conceptual approach. The results showed that Muslim consumers may not be protected when buying food products due to the absence of regulations in this case the Regional Regulation in Depok City regarding halal food products and the possibility that there are producers who commit fraud in terms of using non-halal food ingredients but do not include halal information or not the products sold even though Article 26 paragraph (2) of the Halal Product Guarantee Act has stated that producers are required to provide non-halal information if the ingredients used are prohibited ingredients, so the Depok City government needs to immediately make Regional Regulations governing halal food products so that Muslim consumers can be protected.
