Abstract

This study aims to determine how much influence the scientific writing course has on the ability to write English sentences in semester 6 students of the English Language Education Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. Where as we know that writing activities in their function as productive skills are still considered difficult by students. Things like this are usually caused by several factors such as limited knowledge of vocabulary and a lack of understanding of English grammar. These factors are the main cause of the difficulty for students to develop ideas and write English sentences properly and correctly. Therefore, one of the methods used to overcome this problem is to practice writing a lot, one of which is in scientific writing courses.

Abstract

The primary objective of this study was to explore how teachers' roles are put into practice when teaching English to inclusive students at Elementary Schools in Bengkulu City. The research followed a descriptive qualitative approach in its design. The study involved 7 English teachers who were responsible for instructing English at various Elementary Schools in Bengkulu City, namely SDN 03, SD Al-Manar, SD Alam Mahira, SDN 61, SDN 73, SDN 24, and SD Al-Aufa. To gather data, the researchers employed an observation checklist and an interview guide. The observation checklist used in this study was adapted from Tyagi's work in 2016. There are 5 teachers’ roles in teaching inclusive students that were observed by the researcher which consisted 14 items. The research finding indicated that there were five teachers’ roles in teaching inclusive students at Elementary Schools in Bengkulu city, namely; teacher role as corrector, inspirator, culminator, facilitator, and evaluator. There were 71% of teachers implemented corrector and inspirator, there were 65% of them implemented teacher role as culminator, 24% as facilitator, and 100% of teachers applied teacher role as evaluator. The researcher suggested for English teachers to implement teacher role as facilitator since less than fifty percent of English teachers who implemented teacher role as facilitator.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out the Learning strategies Encourage Writing Ability by using ICT in Fifth Semester of Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. There are many multimedia tools out there for student to use in learning specially in writing. Using ICT will help learning activity from teacher dominated to student centered. It has positive activity to achieve student mastery in writing ability. The design of this research was descriptive method. The instruments of the research were questionnaire and interview guidelines. The questionnaire has been distributed to 30 students in fifth semester. The results of the research showed that there were many student have strategies encourage their writing skill by using different types of ICT. Thus, it can make the process writing easier and fun for students. By this research, the student can get the opportunities to improve their skill and capable to applicate in some tools. Abstract

This research aims to explore what factors motivate students to learn English. Data collection was carried out through a qualitative descriptive approach with instruments in the form of observations, namely making observations during the research. Apart from that, interviews were used to find out other factors outside existing theories. Analyze data using analysis descriptive with interviews and observation of data that is reduced and presented. Results Research shows that as many as 50% choose teachers as motivational drivers in learning English in class and the rest choose to give rewards and punishments, give tests or exams and the last factor is goals or desires.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is entitled "The Importance of Classroom Interaction in Teaching Speaking skills at Second Grade SMA 6 Bengkulu" The purpose of this research is to analyze how the importance of classroom interaction in teaching speaking skills in class. The method used in this research is using qualitative method, by using direct observation method to students and teachers in the learning process. The subjects in this research are an English teacher and second grade students of SMAN 6 Bengkulu. The result of this research is, class interaction is very important in learning speaking in class especially in learning English. Because through class interaction, we can find out the ability of students and how to develop and foster students' confidence to speak and interact during the learning process. In this context, the teacher has an important role in supporting classroom interaction because the teacher is a motivator as well as a facilitator to develop students' abilities. When learning English, it is found that there are still many students who are not confident and choose to be silent, and there are also those who speak but still use the mother tongue as a whole word with the excuse of not knowing and afraid of being wrong, therefore it is advisable for teachers to provide encouragement, motivation and praise that builds students' confidence to speak, especially using English.
