Abstract

Fuel oil is experiencing an increase in demand in various sectors of life impacting the distribution process and meeting market needs. Bioethanol is a new and renewable energy with great potential to replace fuel oil. One alternative material for producing bioethanol is tofu dregs. Tofu dregs raw material processing can be done by distillation process. This study uses conventional distillation with the addition of components which are expected to produce bioethanol with good quality. The design of the distillation apparatus uses the QFD (Quality Function Development) approach. So the purpose of this study was to determine the technical characteristics of the bioethanol distillation system based on customer needs. The design of a bioethanol distillation apparatus made from Tofu Dregs using the QFD method resulted in several criteria for the device expected by the customer, including fast distillation time, amount of ethanol production, fermentation time, ergonomics, hydrolysis time, octane content and solution composition. The importance level of fast distillation time was 4.06, total ethanol production was 3.8, fermentation time was 3.67, ergonomic design was 3.63, hydrolysis time was 3.26, octane level was 3.21 and solution composition was 3.15. The resulting tool is capable of processing tofu dregs into bioethanol. The dimensions of the tool are 1264 mm in length, 1226 mm in width, and a total tool height of 1275 mm. The distillation apparatus is equipped with a set of vessels, condensers, coolers and heaters.

Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology is a challenge as well as an opportunity for the field of education and industry. Mastery of technology is also a must for SMK (Vocational High School) students who are prepared to enter the industrial world upon graduation. One of the basic skills that need to be mastered is drawing techniques. Through community service activities, the Faculty of Engineering, Wijaya Putra University, Surabaya provides basic training in engineering drawing using Autocad software. The training participants were attended by several SMK and SMU students in Surabaya. The training begins with an introduction to Autocad and its use in various professional fields. Pre-test and post-test are given to determine the level of understanding of participants. Participants were also given 2D and 3D drawing tasks. In addition to drawing training, students are also given insights regarding the Faculty of Engineering and the career opportunities that will be obtained. This training received a positive response from students and schools.

Abstract

Dunia usaha dan dunia industri (DUDI) terus mengalami perkembangan teknologi dengan cepat. Perubahan tersebut perlu diimbangi dengan kompetensi tenaga kerja agar sesuai dengan kebutuhan industri. Penguasaan teknologi juga menjadi keharusan bagi siswa SMK (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan) yang memilih masuk ke dunia industri ketika lulus. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini ditujukan untuk memberikan wawasan penerapan teknologi di industri dan beberapa kompetensi yang dibutuhkan bagi calon tenaga kerja. Peserta dari siswa SMA dan SMK mendapat pelatihan terkait penggunaan alat uji dan ukur yang sering digunakan di industri serta cara kalibrasinya. Peserta juga diberikan pelatihan bagaimana merakit dan menggunakan komponen untuk pembangkit listrik tenaga surya (PLTS). Program ini diselenggaran oleh Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Wijaya Putra. Pelatihan diberikan oleh Dosen dan Praktisi dari program studi Teknik Industri, Teknik Mesin dan Informatika. Peserta juga diberikan pengetahuan penerapan teknologi tepat guna (TTG) melalui pameran teknologi hasil karya mahasiswa dan dosen Fakultas Teknik.
