Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using mind mapping on students’ reading comprehension skill. The research was a pre-experimental study wih a design using one group pre test- post test. The sample in this study was students’ of class X IPA 1 which consisted of 30 students using a random sampling technique. The result of this study showed that the mean value of the pre test was 38.50, which showed that the students’ skill in the pre test was will very low, while the mean value of the post test was 83.17, which showed that students’ reading comprehension skills had increased. The result of the data were analyzed using an independent sample- test, showing that sig, (2-tailed) was 0.00 lower than 0.05 sho that the alternative hypothesis ( Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. The researcher proved that it was the effectiveness of the ability to understand students’ reading through the use of mind mapping. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that the use of mind mapping can increase the effectiveness of reading comprehension in clas X IPA 1 students of SMA Nwgwri 10 Gowa ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan penggunaan mind mapping terhadap kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pre- experimental dengan desain yang menggunakan one group pre test – posttest. Sample pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X IPA1 yang terdiri dari 30 siswa dengan teknik random sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pada hasil pre test nilai mean yang dimiliki adalah 38. 50 yang menunjukan yang menunjukan bahwa kemampuan siswa pada pre test masih sangat rendah sedangkan nilai mean pada posttest adalah 83. 17 yang menunjukan bahwa kemampuan memahami bacaan siswa meningkat. Hasil data dianalisis dengan menggunakan independent sample – test, menunjukan bahwa sig. ( 2- tailed ) adalah 0.00 lebih rendah dari 0.05 sehingga hipotesis alternatif ( Ha ) diterima dan hipotesis nol ( H0) ditolak. Peneliti membuktikan bahwa adalah keefektifan pada kemampuan memahami bacaan siswa melalui penggunaan mind mapping. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bawa penggunaan mind mapping dapat meningkatkan keefektifan memahami bacaan pada siswa kelas X IPA 1 SMA Negeri 10 Gowa.

Abstract

The ability to listen in English is the main thing that is important for someone, especially students. It is the reason for conducting this research. The purpose this study was to improve students’ listening skills through the use of English movies. Using English movies can attract students’ attention to learning and make it easy to understand the lessons presented. This research used a quantitative type with a pre-experimental method involving 30 students from class VII as the research sample. Data collection techniques in this study used a pre-test and a post-test. The result of this study indicated that in the pre-test result, the mean value was 29.80, which suggests that the students’ ability in the pre-test was still very low, while the mean value in post-test was 52.00, which indicated that students’ listening skills were starting to improve. The data result were analyzed using an independent sample t-tests, showing that Sig. (2-tailed) was 0.000, lower than 0,05, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. The researcher proved an increase in students’ listening skills through English movies. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that using English movies can improve the listening skills of class VII students of SMPN 02 Bambang. ABSTRAK Kemampuan mendengarkan dalam bahasa Inggris adalah hal utama yang penting untuk dimiliki oleh seseorang terlebih pada siswa. Hal tersebut menjadi alasan dilakukannya penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mendengarkan siswa melalui penggunaan film bahasa Inggris. Melalui penggunaan film bahasa Inggris dapat menarik perhatian siswa dalam belajar serta membuat mereka mudah dalam memahami pembelajaran yang disajikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis kuantitatif dengan metode Preeksperimen dengan melibatkan 30 orang siswa dari kelas VII sebagai sampel penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam Penelitian ini menggunakan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada hasil pre-test nilai mean yang dimiliki adalah 29.80 yang menunjukan bahwa kemampuan siswa pada pre-test masih sangat rendah sedangkan nilai mean pada post-test adalah 52.00 yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan mendengarkan siswa mulai meningkat. Hasil data yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan independent sample t-test, menunjukan bahwa Sig.(2-tailed) adalah 0.000 lebih rendah dari 0.05 sehingga hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak. Peneliti membuktikan bahwa ada peningkatan pada kemampuan mendengarkan siswa melalui penggunaan film bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan film bahasa Inggris dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mendengarkan siswa kelas VII SMPN 02 Bambang.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase creativity and new innovations in the teaching and learning process as well as to help develop students' digital skills. The method used is mentoring through several stages of activities, namely: 1) coordinating with the fifth-grade homeroom teacher and the principal of SDN 250 Maroanging to provide assistance in training on the use of Canva, 2) Explain the aims and objectives of providing assistance training on the use of Canva, 3) Present Canva material and teach students how to use the Canva application. 4) provide feedback to the participants with the aim of finding out to what extent the participants understand the procedures for using the Canva application as a learning medium. The partners for this PKM activity are fifth-grade students at SDN 250 Maroanging, numbering around 20 people. The evaluation was carried out to see the extent of participants' understanding and skills in using the Canva application and its impact on the learning process in the classroom. The results of the PKM implementation show that after participating in training assistance activities on using Canva, the training participants have succeeded in creating learning media such as infographics, powerpoints and learning videos. The outcome of this activity is that students as training participants have the knowledge and ability to create media via Canva. Furthermore, most students immediately committed to using the Canva application in the learning process and utilised it as an interesting digital learning media.

Abstract

Technological developments are also growing rapidly. Its development is almost sectoral, economic, political, and educational have implemented technology. One of them is the use of video. Video can be used as a solution to overcome the low ability of students to understand a concept. This study aims to determine the effect of WhatsApp groups on the ability to write narrative texts of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Makassar. This study uses a quantitative type of experimental method, there are two classes, namely the experimental class using video and the control class not using video. The sample of this study was class VII students consisting of 32 students for the experimental class and 32 students for the control class. The data collection technique in this study uses pre-test and post-test to collect data by giving text to write. The results of this study indicate that the post-test experimental class has a mean value of 74.69 and the post-test control class has a mean value of 72 ,66. The results of the data analyzed using independent sample t-test, showed that Sig.(2-tailed) was 0.000 lower than 0.05 so that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected so that there was an effect of using video in teaching speaking to students after using the video. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that video media is effective in improving the speaking ability of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Makassar.

Abstract

English Pronunciation error cannot be underestimated. Especially for students who majoring English in Higher Education. Thus, the purpose of this research was to find out the types of pronunciation Error which were consonant and vowel sounds made by the second semester students of English Education Department of Megarezky University based on surface strategy taxonomy and the dominant errors between vowels and consonants. The research design was descriptive qualitative with a focuse on pronunciation errors. The result of this study indicate that there were 70 errors made by the second semester students while reading aloud an english short text. It was found 37 errors on pronouncing vowels (52.85%) and 33 errors on pronuncing consonants (47.14%) in the linguistics category. While, there were 5 omission errors (7.14%), 8 addition errors (11.42%), 48 misformation errors (68.57%), and 9 misordering errors (12.85%) in the surface strategy taxonomy. It can be concluded that the pronunciation errors were made by the second semester students of English Education Department of Megarezky University namely, pronunciation and errors based on linguistic catogery taxonomy is a misformation errors.
