Abstract

This research explores the pivotal role of Islamic boarding schools, known as Pesantren, in cultivating leadership qualities among students. The study provides an in-depth analysis of how Pesantren's educational model, which combines religious instruction with leadership training, prepares students to become future leaders. Utilizing a qualitative research approach, the study examines the curricula, extracurricular activities, and mentorship programs within Pesantren that contribute to leadership development. Findings reveal that students in Pesantren are systematically trained in leadership through structured activities such as student councils, community service, and religious debates. These activities not only enhance students' leadership skills but also deepen their understanding of Islamic ethical principles, which guide their decision-making processes. The research also highlights the role of mentors, who are often senior students or teachers, in providing guidance and support to younger students, helping them to navigate challenges and develop confidence in their leadership abilities. The study concludes that Pesantren play a critical role in shaping well-rounded leaders who are not only knowledgeable in Islamic teachings but also equipped with the skills needed to lead effectively in various contexts.
