Abstract

Lemongrass Leaves (Cymbopogoncitratus DC.) and Thatch Grass Leaves (Imperata cylindrical (L.)Raeusch) are medicinal plants belong to similary family. Their activity as natural antioxidant sources because it’s contains the flavonoids compound. This study aimed to determine the total flavonoid content on the ethanol extract of lemongrass leaves and the thatch grass leaves using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The extraction wasdone by maceration methodusing ethanol. The first sample is 3,95% lemongrass leaves, and the second one is 2,98% thatch grass leaves. The qualitative analysis by TLC method with the eluent ratio n-Hexane:ethyl acetate (6:4) showed that both samples positively contain flavonoids. The quantitative analysis by spectrophotometry at the maximum wavelength 431 nm showed that total flavonoid content in the first sample is 2,8666 % and the second sample is 3,4866 %.

Abstract

Has been carried out isolation and identification of active chemical groups ethanol extract antioxidant Cashew Leaves (Anacardium occidentale L.) in aims is determine the class of the active antioxidant compounds from ethanol extract of Cashew Leaves (Anacardium occidentale L.). Sample of 400 grams of macerated with ethanol produces dry extract 20.087 grams. Dry done profile TLC plate and then eluted with eluent n-hexane: ethyl acetate (6:4), and then sprayed DPPH to determine antioxidant compounds. Ethanol extracts was than isolated using vacum liquid chromatography column with n-exane, eluent ratio of n-hexane: ethyl acetate (9:1,8:2,7:3, 6:4, 5:5, 4:6, 3: 7, 2:8, 1:9) and ethyl acetate. XI fractions obtained, then sprayed with DPPH fraction VI showed the most intense antioxidant activity. Results isolates obtained were then identified using uv-vis spectroscopy showed maximum absorption at a wavelength of 424.50 nm, Infrared spectroscopy showed absorbance at wave number 3393.18 cm-1 shows possibility the O-H group reinforced the wave number 1102.20 which indicates the possibility of a C-O group, te wave number 2923,44 cm-1 shows possibility the C-H (aromatic), the wave number 1555.13 cm-1 which indicates the possibility of a cluster C = C, as well as identification by using specific reagents. From the above observations indicate that isolates classes of flavonoids suspected.

Abstract

Isolation and Identification of free radical active compound from stem bark soursoup (Annona muricata L.) extract. The aim of this research is to observe the chemical compound of stem bark the soursoup (A. muricata L.) which is active as a free radical. 550 gram of stem bark the soursoup (A. muricata L.) was by graduate extracted using n-heksan, ethyl acetat and ethanol solvents respectively. Extract result is the extraction, it was produced 2.4 gram n-heksan extract, 8.4 gram ethyl acetat extract, 2.1 gram ethanolic extract. The isolation of ethyl acetat extract was conducted using colom chromatography (TLC) method using eluent n-hexane : ethyl acetat (7:3) and it was produced four fractions. The third fraction was isolated using preparative thin layer chromatography with mob ile phase n-hexane : ethyl acetat (6:1) and got 2 bands. The isolate identified by UV-Vis spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy and analyzed by chemistry reaction. From the data result show that isolate is acetogenin.

Abstract

A study of identification and assay of prednisone in rheumatic jamu. The aim of this study to identify the presence of Chemicals Drug (CD) in containing prednisone in rheumatic jamu with TLC-densitometry method. Samples extracted with Mesceration method using etanol 96% solvent by sonicator. Qualitative analysis using thin layer chromatography (TLC) with a mobile phase of chloroform : ethyl acetate (1 : 9) indicates that the sample A containing Prednison. Quantitative analysis using a TLC-densitometry at a maximum wave-length 254 nm. The result is one containing prednisone that suspected sample “A” is 475,421 µg/mL and the percentage is 4,754%.

Abstract

Mistletoes (Dendrophthoe pentandra L. Miq) is one of the medicine plant which used traditionally to remedy the various of disease. Empirically, communities used mistletoes leaves as cough, tonsillitis, measles, cancer, diuretic, and pain relievers. This research is aimed to determine total flavonoid content in extract of mistletoes leaves (Dendrophthoe pentandra L. Miq). Extraction has done with Thin Layer Cromathography (KLT) method to determine active content which in sample. Analysis of chemistry content in ethanolic extract of mistletoes leaves show are flavonoid content. Content of total flavonoid with Chang et al., 2002 method using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 440 nm. From this research result 39.713 g ethanolic extract with percent of extract rendamen is 6.109% from 650 g dry powder of mistletoes leaves. The results of total flavonoid of ethanolic extract of mistletoes leaves is 2.48% calculated as quercetin.

Abstract

Siwak merupakan tumbuhan berfamili salvadoraceae yang biasa digunakan oleh kaum muslimin untuk membersihkan gigi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membuat formula ekstrak hard lozanges etanol Salvadora persica L. Formulasi hard lozanges menggunakan variasi konsentrasi sukrosa: laktosa (F1; 70%: 30%, F2; 50%: 50%, F3; 30%: 70%) dengan metode pembuatan campuran percetakan. Tablet dievaluasi meliputi pengujian organoleptis, berat keseragaman, waktu melemahkan, dan uji kekerasan. Adapun hasil evaluasi uji organoleptis setiap formula berbau strawberry berwarna merah muda dan tawar, hambar,kurang manis, hasil uji keseragaman bobot (F1; 3,00 g, F2; 3,04 g, F3; 3,06 g), disentegrate time test (F1) ; 9,5 menit, F2; 6,33 menit, F3; 5,66 menit), uji kekerasan (F1; 19 kg / cm2, F2; 20 kg / cm2, F3; 13,5 kg / cm2). Dari hasil yang menunjukkan formula 1, 2 dan 3 pengujian yang memenuhi syarat dalam farmasi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa salvadora persica dapat dibuat menjadi hard lozanges.

Abstract

Radical scavenging activity of diethyl ether fraction from sea lettuce tree (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.) Roxb.) using DPPH.The of research aims is determine the radical scavenging activity of sea lettuce tree based on the binding of free radical DPPH. Was conducted the research on test radical scavenging activity of sea lettuce tree (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.) Roxb.) and then compared with the radical scavenging activity Vitamin C. Five thousand grams of sea lettuce tree (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.) Roxb.) extraced by maceration using ethanol. Dry ethanol extract was partitioned with solid-liquid partition, using diethyl ether and then tested for activity and was obtained radical scavenging IC50 value 27,06 µg/mL.Key Word : Radical Scavenging, Scaevola taccada, DPPH

Abstract

This study aims to determine and compare the phenolic and flavonoid content of methanol extract in Acacia rugata (Lam.) Fawc. Rendle leaves using UV-Vis spechtrophotometer and TLC-densitometry. The Acacia rugata (Lam.) Fawc. Rendle extracted by using maceration applied sonicator. The quantitative analysis measured by UV-Vis spectrophotometer at wavelength 430 nm. The TLC–densitometry performed at wavelength of 254 nm and quercetin was as a standard. The results showed that the phenolic total showed 0.506 gGAE/g extract and 0.879 gGAE/g extract. The flavonoid total showed 0.44 gQE/g extract and 0.73 gQE/mg extract respectively.

Abstract

Indonesian community have been utillsing medicinal plants for years as an alternative treatment of a disease. Penrang is one of the areas located in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi Province whre the majority is Buginese tribe. They use plants as a traditional medicine to cure various diseases. This research aimed to find out the types of plants used by local people in treating plants through shamans, community leaders and people who have knowledge about medicinal plants. The research method was purposive sampling. The research included 33 families and 54 species of ethnopharmacy still remains in the community to treat disesases that are used single-use or concoction, called jappi-jappi
