Abstract

Postharvest handling of cut flowers tuberose in the village of Pekoren, subdistrict Rembang, Pasuruan city, resulting in excessive volumes of organic waste, and it is not handled properly because of the knowledge and technology of the farmer is very limited. This program aims to process organic waste tuberose cut flower into compost as a soil conditioner and plant nutrient enhancer. The methods used is Partisipatory Rural appraisal (PRA) which involves group participation with tuberose flower growers group in training activities and demoplot composting. To process organic waste, supporting facilities and infrastructure that has been created is a composting and crop thrasher. Laboratory analysis indicates that the nutrient content of compost in accordance with the standards established by the Indonesian national standars which contain pH 7.4 (SNI maximum 7.49); Ntotal (%) 0.7 (SNI  minimal 0.4); P (%) 0.3 (SNI minimal 0.10); K(%) 0.36 (SNI minimal 0.2); Ca (%) 7.21 (SNI maksimal 25.5); Mg (%) 0.63 (SNI maksimal 0.6); Fe(%) 1.1887 (SNI maksimal 2.00); Mn(%) 0.12 (SNI maksimal 0.1); Zn (mg/kg) 71.5 (SNI maksimal 500); S(%) 0.0108 (SNI minimal lebih dari atau sama dengan 0.01). while the result of testing the physical quality compost showed a dark brown color and insuble in water, compost smell like the smell of soil and compost temperature stable and equal to room temperature.

Abstract

Nowadays, The Environmental damage has become a very important issue, because the impact has been felt by peoples in the world. Causes of the Environmental damage is consists to natural factors and human factors. The purpose of this program has cultivated love attitude to environment early, in order to students who has knowledge and love of the environment. Method of implementation includes counseling, training, teaching, demonstration and practice so that learning more interesting and be absorbed by the student. The results of the implementation of this service activities such as knowledge of teachers and students in a matter of love environment.The enthusiasm of students in participating in this activity is very high. This is evident from the number of participants who take part in a very satisfactory rate of more than 80%. Demo sorting garbage and organic vegetable cultivation practices in schools also done well and the results are satisfactory although students still have to obtain further guidance and assistance.

Abstract

Human resource potential and natural resources boarding school located in agricultural areas. It is an opportunity for the development of the boarding school in the field of agriculture. But the potential of land owned boarding school has not been explored to the optimum, due to the ability of students in the management of agricultural land is limited. The purpose of the implementation of Science and technology program for the community is to empower students in both Al Muqorrobin and Babussalam boarding school about entrepreneurship and develop the skills of the students in the field of organic farming. Methods of implementation of the program using a participatory approach groups or Participatory Rural appraisal (PRA), which involve the students in the education and training activities. Implementation results generally show that after following the extension of the entrepreneurial activities, the students that are interested in trying entrepreneurship particularly in the field of organic vegetables. After participating in the training, the students also have managed to cultivate vegetables and food crops both in the kitchen garden and land boarding school. Constraints faced especially in Babussalam boarding school, because of the location of water sources away from the land, making the maintenance activities so difficult. These problems can be solved by means of the addition of drainage water from the water well to the land. Recommendations on the implementation of this program is the continued assistance relating to the business plan for the students who will develop entrepreneurship in the field of organic farming .

Abstract

Ginger farmers in the Junrejo village, Junrejo sub district, Batu,  generally sell ginger in fresh form which hasa risk of low profit.  Storage of fresh ginger for a long time can reduce the content of essential oils resulting in decreasedquality and selling value.  One of techniques that can be used to minimize the risk is to process the fresh ginger into theessential oils. The purpose of this program was to provide counseling about post-harvest handling of ginger and trainingof fresh ginger processing into essential oils with distillation techniques. The target of this program was to improve skillsof  ginger farmers to distillate fresh ginger rhizome into essential oil. During the training, farmers showed enthusiasmand high spirits in following the training phase. The results of calculation of essential oil content of two types of freshginger used in the training was 0.15% in emprit ginger and 0.2% in red ginger. The results of laboratory analysis ofessential oil characteristic of ginger emprit  showed that the emprit ginger produced by Junrejo village farmers consisted of acid value, specific gravity (at 250C) and refractive index (at 250C) of 0.98% ; 1.498; and 0.98, respectively

Abstract

This article is based on the Community Service Program which seeks to help increase the insight and knowledge of residents to differentiate between subsistence and commercial scale vegetable production. This service program aims to increase the insight and skills of the residents of RT 03 RW 06 Mulyorejo Village, especially the Dasawisma group of PKK women in managing existing resources to implement home-scale vegetable farming. The approach method used is training and mentoring in vegetable business management for residents in RT 03. Community service activities are carried out in 3 stages, namely: (1) Socialization of activities; (2) Vegetable farming management training and bookkeeping; (3) Assistance for pioneering vegetable marketing. The results of the implementation of community service show that PKK women are able to allocate their resources to produce leaf vegetables and fruit vegetables on a home scale. The formation of production groups based on vegetable types greatly helps the availability of various types of vegetables to meet consumer demand around in the RT 03 RW 06. PKK women also have the ability to make simple bookkeeping although intensive assistance is needed to perfect the recording of expenditure transactions and income earned. The initial profits of vegetable farming run by PKK women during a growing season are still included in the business records of the Dasawisma group. A pilot agreement with an online vegetable shop has been agreed to expand the marketing network of PKK women in RT 03.

Abstract

A series of experiments in a plastic house were carried out to test the accumulation of Pb metal in Chinese cabbage and bean plants from the application of several Pb sources. The research method used was a split-plot design with the main plot was the application of Pb source consisting of A1 = pesticide (99 mg Pb/kg), A2 = fertilizer (21 mg Pb/kg), A3 = Pb(NO3)2 (50 mg Pb/kg) and A4 = control (without the application of Pb), and the subplot was the vegetable crops consisting of B1 = Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa) and B2 = bean (Phaseolus vulgaris). The results of the experiment showed that the Pb content in the shoots of Chinese cabbage and bean plants that were previously sprayed with pesticide was significantly 231.02% (Chinese cabbage) and 257.18% (bean) higher than control plants. Meanwhile, the largest Pb concentrations in the roots of Chinese cabbage and bean plants were obtained in plants applied with Pb(NO3)2. Compared to the control treatment, there was an increase in Pb concentration by 206.32% in the roots of Chinese cabbage plant and by 310.03% in the roots of bean plant which were applied with Pb(NO3)2. Pb concentrations of Chinese cabbage which were given fertilizer increased by 14.86% in the shoot and 30.59% in the root, while those in bean increased by 10.74% in the shoot and 98.77% in the root. Pb concentrations in Chinese cabbage and beans that were given fertilizer were not significantly different from control plants. These results indicate that the application of pesticide and fertilizer containing Pb results in Pb accumulation in the plant shoots and roots as well as in the soil.

Abstract

Mawaddah Warohmah Orphanage Malang City is the social service institutions that accommodates orphans and poor people from various regions. The skill development of the productive age orphanage children has not been maximally obtained. This program aims to improve the skills of orphans and poor people under the guidance of the orphanage through the development of creative industries that have the opportunity to become home-scale businesses. The group participation approach method in this program involves orphans and poor people under the guidance of the Orphanage actively in training and mentoring for creative classes "patchwork and lace" as well as entrepreneurship counseling and business planning. The results of the program implementation showed that 80% of orphans and poor people assisted by the Mawadah Warohmah orphanage were able to attend the training well and were shown to have skills in patchwork and lacee arts. Their craftsmanship from patchwork is demonstrated by handmade products in the form of blankets of various designs and motif modifications. Meanwhile, their works from lacee art training include handbags, scarves, tablecloths, brooches, bags, shoes and babies. clothes, and wallets. The intensive mentoring program through an alliance between the orphanage (the first partner) and Toko Jaya (the second partner) is able to support the development of creative businesses through the marketing of products produced from orphaned children and the underprivileged

Abstract

Minimnya pengetahuan dan ketrampilan yang dimiliki kaum dhuafa binaan panti asuhan, menimbulkan permasalahan kurangnya kemandirian kaum dhuafa dari segi perekonomian. Untuk meminimalisir permasalahan ini, program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan memberdayakan kaum dhuafa melalui pelatihan kewirausahaan dan pendampingan industri skala rumahan. Metode pelaksanaan program meliputi pelatihan kewirausahaan, dan pendampingan pembuatan bumbu dalam kemasan yang bernilai jual. Hasil pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan bumbu dalam kemasan diantaranya adalah produk empat macam bumbu dalam botol kemasan yaitu bumbu rawon, empal, sambal merah dan sambal ijo. Sementara hasil pelatihan kewirausahaan dan perencanaan bisnis terlaksana dalam beberapa kegiatan meliputi motivasi berwirausaha, pembuatan catatan kegiatan usaha, pembuatan bisnis plan, serta penghitungan keuntungan dan kerugian dalam usaha. Pelaksanaan program dapat terlaksana dengan baik karena adanya pendampingan intensif dan jalinan kerjasama antara pihak panti asuhan sebagai mitra 1 dengan pihak mitra 2 dalam menampung dan memasarkan hasil industri skala rumahan binaan panti asuhan Mawaddah Warohmah.

Abstract

Logam berat timbal (Pb) yang dihasilkan dari sisa hasil pembakaran tidak sempurna dapat  menimbulkan racun yang dapat mencemari tanah sehingga dapat berpengaruh terhadap tanaman  yang tumbuh  di atasnya.  Secara umum tanaman peka terhadap  lingkungan tumbuh yang tercemar  unsur logam berat dikarenakan unsur tersebut tidak dibutuhkan tanaman dan bersifat toksik.  Pengaruh meracun logam berat terhadap tanaman dapat bersifat kronis dan akut  ditentukan oleh  lama kontak, konsentrasi dan daya tahan tanaman . Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan  genus tanaman hias yang mempunyai kemampuan toleransi paling tinggi terhadap cekaman logam  berat timbal (Pb). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode  Rancangan Acak kelompok (RAK) dengan  faktor pertama: macam genus tanaman hias dan faktor kedua: konsentrasi logam berat timbal (Pb).  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan k emampuan toleransi dan adaptasi tanaman genus Codiaeum terhadap  paparan berbagai taraf konsen trasi logam timbal (Pb) cenderung lebih tinggi dibanding genus  Heliconia, Eichornia dan Marantha.  Rata - rata tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun per tanaman dari  empat genus tanaman hias (Codiaeum, Heliconia, Marantha dan Eichornia) menurun secara nyata  pada tar af konsentrasi 1200 mg Pb.kg - 1 Pb sementara rata - rata luas daun per tanaman menurun  secara nyata pada taraf konsentrasi 400 mg Pb.kg - 1 dibanding kontrol selama umur 5 minggu setelah  tanam.

Abstract

Tanaman hias sedap malam di daerah Bangil Pasuruan selama ini dikenal dengan ciri khas bunganya yang kecil namun harum. Upaya perbaikan kualitas dan upaya pengembangan bunga sedap malam di dataran medium terus dilakukan dengan menciptakan pertumbuhan tanaman yang lebih baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian kolkisin terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif tanaman sedap malam yang ditanam didataran medium kota Malang. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimen di kelurahan Cemorokandang, kecamatan Kedungkandang, Malang, yang memiliki ketinggian tempat 610 m dpl., pada bulan Mei sampai Nopember 2013. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok yang diulang tiga kali. dan terdiri dari dua faktor, faktor pertama adalah lama perendaman (W) : 3 jam (W1); 6 jam (W2); 9 jam (W3); dan 12 jam (W4). Faktor kedua adalah tingkat konsentrasi kolkhisin: 0 ppm (P0); 100 ppm (P1); 300 ppm (P2); dan 500 ppm (P3). Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap karakteristik pertumbuhan tanaman sedap malam pada fase vegetatif diantaranya meliputi panjang tanaman, jumlah daun, luas daun, jumlah anakan. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan analisis sidik ragam sesuai dengan rancangan yang digunakan, dan jika terdapat pengaruh nyata dilanjutkan dengan Uji Jarak Duncan (DMRT) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh tingkat konsentrasi kolkisin dan lama perendaman secara umum tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap rerata panjang tanaman sedap malam, namun secara terpisah pemberian kolkisin pada tingkat konsentrasi 100 ppm hingga 500 ppm menghasilkan rerata panjang tanaman yang lebih tinggi dibanding tanpa pemberian kolkisin. Pengaruh tingkat konsentrasi kolkisin dan lama perendaman secara umum memberikan pengaruh nyata pada jumlah daun dan luas daun, dimana secara umum pada tingkat konsentrasi kolkisin 300 ppm dengan lama perendaman 6 jam dan tingkat konsnetrasi 100 ppm dengan lama perendaman 9 jam menghasilkan rerata jumlah daun dan luas daun yang lebih tinggi. Pengamatan terhadap jumlah anakan tanaman sedap malam menunjukkan pada tingkat konsentrasi 100 ppm dengan lama perendaman 9 jam dan pada konsentrasi 300 ppm dengan lama perendaman 9 dan 6 jam menghasilkan rerata jumlah anakan yang lebih banyak.
