Abstract

The objective of the study is to identify the fitness and the effectiveness of the comic that has been developed using Guided Inquiry Technique in improving the students’ critical thinking skills and scientific attitudes for the learning process of Natural Science. The study itself is a research and development initiative that has adapted the model proposed by Borg & Gall. Within the conduct of the study, the limited experiment by means of one-group pre-test and post-test design had been conducted. On the other hand, within the conduct of the operational test, the quasi-experiment design in the form of non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design had been adopted. The results of the study, thus, show that: (1) the Natural Science comic media has been fit for implementation with the “Very Good” category; and (2) the Natural Science comic media has been active in significantly improving the students’ critical thinking skills. The mean score for the critical thinking skills of the students in the control group is 0.74 with the “High” category. In contrast, the mean score for the critical thinking skills of the students in the experimental group is 0.87 with the “High” category. In the same time, it is apparent that the improvement of the scientific attitude between the students in the control group and the students in the experimental group has been significant.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the result of the e-learning to developing the communication skill of industry 4.0 era of students after its use in the teaching of natural science. E-learning platform that had been used was Moodle. This study was qualitative research that consisted  of  three stages: (1) data reduction, (2) data display, and (3) conclusion drawing / verification. The tryout subjects in this study were 36 students of Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar semester 2. The data were collected  by using an observation sheet to knew the indicator of communication skill, documentation, and interview. The results obtained by learning e-Learning can develop skills that must be possessed in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. This can be seen from the communication skills of students in attending science classes. Students can articulate thoughts and ideas effectively using writing; use communication to inform something; can use e-learning media; and can communicate effectively in a variety of environments. The development of this era requires that humans have these skills to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0.Keywords: e-learning, industry revolution 4.0, natural science learning

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview for educators and prospective educators in order to take advantage of research activities in the teaching of natural science, use the environment of school to give experimental habitual for students. This article describe the creative skills and guided inquiry model. the skills to think with the critical question is the problem and formulate appropriate hypotheses; take decisions and action steps such as designing the experiment; collect and assess information in accordance with the observations; and make conclusions. Inquiry model is a process that the teacher has to identify problems and provide much inducement to students in order to locate the problem and find alternative solutions through a scientific process and supported using creative and logical. After its use in the teaching of natural science, expected to educators and prospective educators can have an understanding that the research activities both lab and observation, the creative skills students grow, so they could face global competition in the 21st century.Â
