Abstract

Exploring Critical Thinking And Students Curiosity Through Simple Inquiry Laboratory Activity. This study is a preliminary research to explore critical thinking skills and students curiosity of primary school in understanding science through simple inquiry laboratory activities. Participants are 20 students of 4th grade from one of the primary schools in Bandung. The researcher uses descriptive method to describe student activity during learning, student idea, and student's response in learning, obtained through personal communication, student worksheet and questionnaire. In the first lab activity, researchers used plasticine to explore students' ideas for design 3 objects for exploring science concept namely "floating, drifting and sinking. In the second activity students are directed to apply the concept that has been obtained in the first activity, which is they should selecting and classify red bean and corn with good quality and bad quality that used to be seeds. The results show that critical thinking ability and students curiosity begin look when they design objects that are expected for floating and drifting. Students are enthusiastic about experimenting and trying to recreate if their plasticine design fails. Trial and error activities are also stimulate them to continue their idea to find the right design objects. That concepts can be applied by student in daily life to select and classify seeds with good and less quality, and they are enthusiastic to plant it and compare it growth. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan beberapa strategi paedagogik yang dapat dilakukan oleh guru ataupun dosen untuk meningkatkan efektifitas dan efisensi pembelajaran laboratorium sehingga dapat mengembangkan autonomy dan kreativitas siswa serta meminimalisir anggaran dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan praktikum. Penelitian ini merupakan merupakan preliminary research yang didasarkan pada kajian pustaka dari enam jurnal utama dan tujuh  jurnal pendukung dengan tema kegiatan laboratorium. Hasil penelitian mengungkap bahwa beberapa strategi yang dapat dilakukan sebagai alternatif dalam pembelajaran laboratorium diantaranya: (1) penggunaan demonstrasi virtual lab dan video digital, (2) pembelajaran laboratorium melalui pendekatan Mutasi Based Learning (MBL), (3) mengimplementasikan unsur kebudayaan lokal yang relevan dalam modul laboratorium, (4) menjelaskan pengalaman penelitian yang autentik beserta hambatannya dan (5) dan mengkombinasikan beberapa metode dalam kegiatan hands on laboratorium. Strategi pertama dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pelaksanaan kegiatan laboratorium yang dapat meminimalisir penggunaan anggaran, sedangkan strategi kedua sampai dengan kelima disinyalir dapat lebih mengembangkan autonomy dan kreativitas siswa dalam pelakasanaan kegiatan laboratorium biologi

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of online learning strategies with technology-based outdoor learning models in science learning particularly in the unit of plant diversity in the environment for students MI NU Nurul Haq Prambatan, Kudus 4th class. Researchers used descriptive qualitative methods with research samples of class 4 teachers, 20 students and students’. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews and online questionnaires through Google form. The results show that the implementation of online learning strategies with technology-based outdoor learning was considered effective, flexible, easy to apply and provides benefits in enrich new insight or knowledge, reducing boredom and adding variety of methods in online learning in science learning. The implementation of technology-based outdoor learning in science learning by using plant identification applications can increase the knowledge of students, especially the scientific names of plants found in the yard, fields, gardens or on the side of the road in the home environment of each student. In addition, the activeness and participation of students in completing tasks appears to be higher when compared to online learning through regular assignments. Communication was well established between teachers, students, and parents during learning with the outdoor learning strategy.

Abstract

The study aims was to describe the relationship between students’creativity and cognitive learning outcome through the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) on the biology of Fungi matter. Researchers use a correlational method of sampling as many as 25 students in 10th grade being chosen by purposive sampling technique. The instruments used to collect creativity data are assessments of products referred to the creativity indicator as: (1) fluency, (2) flexibility and (3) novelty, while students' cognitive learning outcome data are 20 multiple-choice, 4 open-ended essay based on taxonomy Bloom's revision from C1 to C6. Data analysis uses a statistic descriptive to know average and deviating standards of creativity and students' cognitive learning outcome, while to know the level of relationship between variables used non-parametric statistics through spearman's correlation test. The result shows that the average score of students' creativity in creating applied products relating to the function and role of fungi is 55.5 while the average results of students' cognitive learning outcome are 68.24. There is a middle correlation between creativity and students' cognitive learning outcome (r= 0.413).

Abstract

Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan tiga komponen utama dalam desain kegiatan laboratorium bioteknologi yakni tujuan, proses dan pertanyaan yang dapat digunakan sebagai dasar untuk melakukan rekonstruksi terhadap desain kegiatan laboratorium tersebut. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposif dengan mengambil 10 sampel desain kegiatan laboratorium yang terdapat di sepuluh SMA Negeri di kota Bandung. Peneliti mengembangkan instrument berupa tabel deskriptif yang digunakan untuk menganalisis keterkaitan antara komponen tujuan, proses dan pertanyaan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa praktikum secara keseluruhan mengarah pada kategori meningkatkan pemahaman terhadap materi pelajaran dan mengembangkan keterampilan dasar. Hanya 20% tujuan praktikum mengacu pada indikator hasil penjabaran Kompetensi Dasar, tergambar dalam langkah kerja dan dapat dicapai setelah melakukan kegiatan laboratorium, 20% proses sesuai dengan tujuan, berstruktur logis, sistematis, serta tepat dalam menghasilkan data, dan temuan mengungkap hanya 39,28% pertanyaan yang bersesuaian dengan tujuan dan proses. Sisanya bermasalah terutama dalam hal tidak tergambarnya tujuan dalam langkah kerja, tidak dapat dicapainya tujuan, proses tidak mengacu pada tujuan, tidak logis, dan juga tidak sistematis, tidak menghasilkan data yang diharapkan, serta tidak mengacunya pertanyaan pada tujuan ataupun proses. Hasil tersebut merupakan temuan yang dapat dijadikan sebagai dasar untuk melakukan rekonstruski terhadap desain kegiatan laboratorium bioteknologi.Analysis of the components of the design of biotechnology laboratory activities. The aims of this study was to describe the components of objectives, processes, and questions in Biotechnology lab activities design that can used as a basis for reconstruction it. Sample was taken purposively by taking 10 samples of lab activities design in 10 SMA Negeri in Bandung. Researchers developed descriptive table as instrument that used to analyze the interrelations between objective, process and questions. The results show that overall lab objectives leads to category of developing basic skills and improving understanding of subject matter. There are only 20% of objectives which refer to Basic Competence outcome indicator, illustrated in activity step, and can be achieved after lab activities, 20% of process refers to objectives, systematic and logical structure, and can produce correct data, and only 39,28% of questions refer to objectives and processes. The rest is problematic especially in event that objectives are not illustrated in activity steps, objectives can not be achieved, process is not referring to objectives, not systematic and illogical, and does not produce expected data, question does not refer to objectives or process. These results are findings can be used as a basic for reconstruction lab activities design of biotechnology.

Abstract

The study aims to describe the digital literacy level of  pre-service biology teachers based application android that can be adopted into biology study and integrated islamic values. Researchers use a quantitative descriptive method with research samples of as many as 60 pre-service biology teachers selected by purposive sampling. The instrument used to encompass data as an online questionnaire contains 25 questions concerning islamic values and 60 questions to determine digital media literacy levels by pointing to indicators developed by the European commission directorate general information society and media; Media integration unit, divided into three categories: (1) use skills (2) critical understanding and (3) communicative abilities. The result shows that the digital literacy levels of pre-service biology teachers in other sacred areas are at a medium level with a percentage of 77.76% for use skills category, 75.71% for critical understanding and 75% for communicative abilities. The integration of islamic values in digital reinforcement is associated with technological progress primarily in admiring the omnipotent divinity of Allah SWT (85.7%) and also increasing faith and gratitude (87%) toward the advancement of digital technology that can be used in biology study

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap peduli kesehatan reproduksi yang tumbuh melalui pembelajaran biologi khususnya pembelajaran sistem reproduksi menurut perspektif siswa. Peneliti menggunakan metode cross-sectional dengan menggunakan sample sebanyak 98 siswa SMA kelas XI yang berasal dari 3 SMA di Kudus yang dipilih secara random.  Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen utama berupa tes dan questionnaire yang disebarkan secara online melalui Google form serta diperkuat dengan teknik in-depth interview. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran biologi dipandang sudah baik dalam memfasilitasi siswa untuk memperoleh pengetahuan tentang materi sistem dan kesehatan reproduksi dengan rerata skor 79,58, namun belum cukup maksimal untuk menumbuhkan sikap peduli kesehatan reproduksi remaja dengan rerata 62.82. Implikasi hasil penelitian dalam pendidikan berupa pentingnya dilakukan integrasi pendidikan kesehatan reproduksi remaja dalam kurikulum sekolah. Guru perlu memberikan penguatan dan arahan secara berkesinambungan kepada siswa melalui pembelajaran tidak hanya dalam pembelajaran biologi, tetapi juga berkolaborasi dengan mata pelajaran lainnya dalam upaya untuk menumbuhkan kepedulian siswa terhadap kesehatan reproduksi, disamping memberikan penguatan dan pemahaman materi.
