Abstract

Penelitian deskriptif ini bertujuan menganalisis relevansi desain kegiatan laboratorium terhadap kompetensi dasar yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran yang berasal dari buku paket, buku latihan kegiatan siswa (LKS) ataupun desain kegiatan laboratorium buatan guru. Populasi penelitian adalah desain kegiatan laboratorium SMA kelas X yang digunakan guru sebagai rujukan kegiatan laboratorium. Sampel penelitian adalah seluruh desain kegiatan laboratorium konsep protista yang digunakan di SMA Kota Bandung yang diambil melalui purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa desain kegiatan laboratorium konsep Protista yang dianalisis telah mencapai tuntutan kompetensi dasar. Hal ini terlihat dari tujuan praktikum pada desain kegiatan laboratorium yang dianalisis sudah menuntun siswa untuk mencapai tuntutan kompetensi dasar. Hasil analisis langkah prosedural, sebagian besar langkah prosedural yang dicantumkan dapat dikerjakan dan kemunculan objek atau event dapat teramati yang sesuai dengan tujuan praktikum dan dapat dijadikan dasar pembentukan knowlegde claim. Hasil analisis objek atau event menunjukkan bahwa objek atau event didapatkan melalui seluruh langkah prosedural dan sesuai dengan pertanyaan fokus sehingga dapat memenuhi tuntutan kompetensi dasar. Pertanyaan praktikum mengarahkan siswa pada pembentukan knowledge claim yang sesuai dengan kompetensi dasar serta membantu siswa untuk mengaitkan antara fakta yang teramati dengan konsep yang akan dibentuk menjadi knowledge claim konsep Protista yang diharapkan sesuai kompetensi dasar. Penelitian ini ingin mengungkapkan profil kemampuan berhipotesis mahasiswaFPMIPA sebagai suatu ketrampilan proses terpadu;; serta kaitannya dengan pola berpikir(deduktif-induktif), dan dengan tingkat berpikir (formal, formal awal, transisi, konkretl.Menggunakan Tes Kemampuan Perumusan Hipotesis Format Uraian <TKPH-U> danFormat Pilihan <TKPH-P>, serta Tes Kemampuan penalaran <TKp> yang sudahdivalidasi, diiaring kemampuan berhipotesis dan kemampuan penalaran mahasiswaFPM|PAlKlPBandung angkatan 1987 <n = 85). Disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan berhipotesismahasiswa kurang berkembang, walaupun tingkat berpikir sebagian besar mahasiswasudah formal. Adanya temuan tentang kemampuan nalar dan berhipotesis calonguru matematika dan calon guru sains yang tidak berbeda memperkuat temuankeseluruhan bahwa ada korelasi positif antara kemampuan berpikir operasiformaldengankemampuan berbahasa.

Abstract

The result of evaluation on the Plant Ecology for student of Biological education was still low. It indicated that the learning process of this subject was not efective enough. Therefore, it has to be though, how to conduct this learning process of Plant Ecology learning effectively. The first step of  Plant Ecology learning was selecting some student to be peer tuturs, then giving them instruction the practical exercise was carrying out by using peer tutors on learning concepts of each the practical topics. The method of practical exercise was small research, designing each topic of practical exercise as simple research. This method was  expected to optimize the student ability. The study reavealed that the learning in practical exercise with peer tutor  increasing the result of evaluation. It is shown that average of final test was 69.96 higher than primary test (48.8). The increasing result of evaluation is conducted with student motivation, whole activities of teacher and students. Peer tutors can be played as catalysator, dinamysator and motivator on groupe; small research  made the learning process more interested, so the learning became more effectively.Keywords: Plant Ecology, small research Method, Field work,peer tuturs

Abstract

Masih rendahnya hasil belajar mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Biologi dalam Mata Kuliah Ekologi Tumbuhan masih belum memuaskan. Karakteristik mata kuliah Ekologi Tumbuhan yang terkait dengan cabang ilmu lainnya menuntut mahasiswa menggunakan konsep-konsep cabang ilmu lainnya dalam mempelajari ekologi. Karakteristik tersebut menyebabkan tidak semua mahasiswa dapat memahami konsep ekologi dengan mudah. Diperkirakan apabila difasilitasi dengan metode yang memungkinkan mahasiswa menggunakan dan menghubungkan banyak konsep dapat membantu mahasiswa memahami konsep ekologi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode action research dalam dua siklus . Penerapan metode Pemecahan Masalah yaitu dengan mendisain praktikum sedemikian rupa sehingga masing- masing topik praktikum menjadi suatu masalah yang dipecahkan melalui observasi/penelitian sederhana diharapkan dapat mengoptimasi kemampuan mahasiswa karena sifat materi mata kuliah bersifat interdisipliner (melibatkan banyak konsep biologi lainnya) dan terkait dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, selain itu juga pelaksanaan praktikum menjadi menarik, tidak membosankan. Pelaksanaan praktikum di luar kelas, dengan tempat yang terpisah,  menggunakan Tutor sebaya yang dipilih dengan kualifikasi tertentu yang berperan sebagai katalisator, dinamisator, dan motivator dalam kerja kelompok sehingga pembelajaran lebih efektif. Hasil belajar  mahasiswa menunjukkan rerata nilai tes awal = 13,16; nilai tes pertama = 78,81 dan nilai tes kedua = 68,68. Meskipun sudah ada peningkatan hasil belajar, namun masih perlu ditindaklanjuti dengan penelitian lain.

Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine the effect of field trip Mangrove Pulau Dua Nature Reserve on the scientific attitude of high school students. The research method is used quasi experiment. On the design using two classes, experimental class and control class. The population is used the students of grade X SMA Negeri A Kota Serang. Data were obtained from a scientific attitude questionnaire calculated using MSI (Methode of Successive Interval) and a questionnaire of teacher and student responses regarding the implementation of learning. The results showed that there was no significant difference of scientific attitude between the experimental class and the control class.

Abstract

In practical activities usually teachers provide guidance in the form of students’ worksheet or design of laboratory activity. Based on field studies Supriatno (2009), only 24% design laboratory that can be done with the appropriate procedures and complete results in terms of data analysis and conclusion, so it does not support the construction of knowledge. It required the analysis to determine whether design laboratory used already support the construction of knowledge. Design laboratory analysis refers to the Vee diagram and revised Bloom's taxonomy as both lead students to construct knowledge. This research is a descriptive study with purposive sampling technique. The research data captured with a rare test work results table, the table where the component diagram Vee, Vee diagrams scoring table, as well as the revised Bloom's taxonomy table. The results of the 16 samples and 5 samples design laboratory, junior high school design laboratory of photosynthetic material shows that there are still procedural mistakes and instruction unstructured. Vee diagram component analysis results show the general components that arises is the question of focus, the object/event, theories, principles, concepts and knowledge claims. Components that are generally not appear that notes/transformation. Results of the analysis showed scores of each component Vee diagram, Vee diagram on middle and high school degign laboratory generally have not yet reached the ideal score. Results of the analysis showed the emergence of the cognitive level of cognitive level generally required design laboratory in middle and high school, namely C1, C2 and C3, with dominant category procedural C3. This cognitive level is in conformity with the demands of basic competencies middle school, but not in accordance with the demands of basic competencies of high school.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to obtain the implementation of value-based Project Based Learning (PjBL) model toward high students learning outcomes. This research was implemented at high students with 35 people that took the purposive sampling. The Research method used weak experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The result showed that student’s ability of concepts showed well with 62,85 % students passed and gain index of 52,2 % (sufficient The level of student acceptance of science scores is included in the high category and the gain index reaches 11% (low). Students' attitude based on observation results has a value of 3.75 (very good). The results of the questionnaire processing show that all students experience problems during learning, especially when designing projects. The results of calculations with the t-test show that the Project Based Learning Value Model influences the mastery of students' concepts and attitudes. The results of calculations with Spearman correlation show that there is a positive relationship with a low category (r = 0.2) between mastery of concepts with students' attitudes towards the acceptance of science values.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to investigate the level of senior high school student’s metacognitive awareness, the relationship between knowledge about cognition and regulation of cognition, and the relation among all indicators of metacognitive awareness which examined through project-based learning in Environtmental Polution concept. The subject of this study is first grade-students in one of public high school in Bandung. To reveal metacognitive awareness, we used Metacognitive Awareness Inventory modified from Schraw and Dennison (1994). The results of this research revealed that majority of students have good metacognitive awareness level, and the rest are very good and adequate. Then, majority of students have good level of knowledge about cognition and regulation of cognition aspect. The results also revealed that there are very high correlation between knowledge about cognition and regulation of cognition. Metacognitive awareness indicators have also high correlation among them, except declarative and procedural knowledge, which have a low correlation. Through this research, we found that project-based learning are able to facilitated the students to use their metacognitive awareness in Environtmental Polution concepts with the learning process.

Abstract

Matakuliah ekologi merupakan dasar dari pengetahuan tentang konservasi biasanya hanya dilakukan di kelas dan praktikum di sekitar kampus. Kegiatan tersebut kurang dapat memberi informasi yang lengkap tentang struktur dan fungsi dalam satu area (ekositem). Jumlah mahasiswa yang cukup banyak dan dosen yang terbatas menyebabkan membawa mahasiswa ke  lapangan adalah tidak efisien. Model  Field trip traning  (FTT) adalah solusi untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan mahasiswa tentang ekologi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model FTT. Penelitian dilaksanakan di hutan  Agathis alba  Baturaden pada bulan Mei 2013. Mahasiswa dibantu oleh 11 instruktur yang telah mengikuti pelatihan terlebih dahulu. Instruktur wajib membuat pedoman kerja lapangan. Populasi dan sampel adalah mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Siliwangi yang sedang mengambil matakuliah ekologi, berjumlah 216 mahasiswa. Mahasiswa melakukan observasi eksplorasi hutan, hasil pengamatan didiskusikan dan mahasiswa wajib membuat display untuk dipresentasikan serta dipamerkan. Mahasiwa membuat laporan hasil observasi. Data diperoleh  dari hasil laporan mahasiswa melalui  lembar penilaian berdasarkan Starko (2005). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa dapat menghubungkan antara faktor biotik dan abiotik, membuat jaring makanan, memahami interaksi makhluk hidup, dan memahami stratifikasi vertikal hutan. Mahasiswa dapat menghubungkan bahwa empat hal yang diamati merupakan satu sistem yang saling berhubungan. Kata kunci :  Field trip training, struktur dan fungsi hutan, eksplorasi hutan

Abstract

Tree thinking is a platform of thinking for interpreting phylogenetic tree. This study analyzed correlation between pre-service biology teachers’ tree thinking ability and their acceptance of evolution. Subjects were 41 pre-service biology teachers from two universities in West Java. Research instruments were TTCI (Tree Thinking Concept Inventory) and MATE (Measure of Acceptance of the Theory Evolution). Data was analyzed statistically. Result indicated that pre-service biology teachers’ tree thinking ability and their acceptance of evolution were categorized as moderate. Difference between gender as well as correlation between tree thinking ability and acceptance of evolution are discussed.
