Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the status of physical, chemical, and biological properties of wetlands due to the use of biochar. The research was carried out on agricultural paddy fields in the administrative area of Janti Village, Wates District, Kediri Regency. The research period is 3 months from April 2018 to June 2018. The research begins with a survey in the field. The next activity is observing, measuring, sampling, and recording data according to parameters. Parameters observed were as follows: (1) soil density, (2) total porosity, (3) degree of water tracing, (4) soil pH, (5) DHL, (6) Redox, (7) Jumblah microbes, (8 ) C-Organic, (9) Intermittent base content, (10) CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity), and (11) Base Saturation. The results showed that the use of biochar was able to improve: 1) The physical properties of the soil were 0.2 g / cm3 soil density, the total porosity of the soil was 2.38%, and the degree of traceability of water was 0.54. 2) Chemical properties of soil, namely soil pH 0.43, Organic C 0/79, Interchangeable alkaline contents, CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity), and Base Saturation 4%. 3) The biological nature of the soil, namely the number of microbes 1.9 x 108. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengkaji status sifat fisik, kimia, dan biologi lahan sawah karena penggunaan bahan pembenah tanah (biochar). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada lahan sawah pertanian di wilayah administrasi Desa Janti, Kecamatan Wates, Kabupaten Kediri. Waktu penelitian selama 3 bulan dari April 2018 hingga Juni 2018. Penelitian diawali dengan survei di lapangan. Kegiatan selanjutnya melakukan pengamatan, pengukuran, pengambilan sampel, dan pencatatan data sesuai parameter. Parameter yang diamati sebagai berikut: (1) bobot isi tanah, (2) porositas total, (3) derajat penulusuran air, (4) pH tanah, (5) DHL, (6) Redoks, (7) Jumblah mikroba, (8) C-Organik, (9) Kandungan basa-basa tertukar, (10) KTK (Kapasitas Tukar Kation), dan (11) Kejenuhan Basa. Hasil penilitian menunjukan bahwa penggunaan biochar mampu meningkatkan: 1) Sifat fisik tanah yaitu bobot isi tanah 0.2 g/cm3, porositas total tanah 2.38%, dan derajat penulusuran air 0.54. 2) Sifat kimia tanah yakni pH tanah 0.43, C-Organik 0/79, Kandungan basa-basa tertukar, KTK (Kapasitas Tukar Kation), dan Kejenuhan Basa 4%. 3) Sifat biologi tanah yakni Jumlah mikroba 1.9 x 108.
