<![CDATA[This research aimed to investigate whether the implementation of cooperative learning model of numbered heads together was effective in increasing student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. This research design was pretest-posttest control design. The research population was all students of grade 8th of SMPN 2 Way Seputih in academic year of 2013/2014 that was distributed into five classes. The research samples were students of VIII E and VIII F class who were taken by purposive random sampling technique. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical conceptual understanding. Based on hypothesis analysis, it was found the conclusion that the implementation of learning model of numbered heads together was not more effective than conventional learning model in increasing student’s mathematical conceptual understanding.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan model pembelajaran numbered heads together efektif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Desain penelitian ini adalah pretest-posttest control design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Way Seputih tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang terdistribusi dalam lima kelas. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII E dan VIII F yang diambil dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes pemahaman konsep matematis. Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran NHT tidak lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran konvensional dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.Kata kunci: model pembelajaran konvensional, model pembelajaran NHT, pemahaman konsep matematis]]>
