Abstract

The poor-experimental research was conducted by using one group pretest-posttes design which it was aimed to describe the practicality, effectiveness, and effect size of discovery learning in electrolyte and non electrolyte solustion topic to improve metacognitive skill and concept mastery. The sampel of this research was class X.10 at SMAN 16 Bandar Lampung which it was taken by cluster random sampling technique. The data analysis included practicality, effectiveness, and effect size. The research result showed that the practicality and effectiveness of discovery learning had been very high criteria and big creteria of effect size to improve students metacognitive skill and concept mastery.Penelitian poor-experiment dengan one group pretest-posttes desaign bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kepraktisan, keefektifan, dan ukuran pengaruh pembelajaran discovery learning pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit untuk meningkatkan kemampuan metakognisi dan penguasaan konsep siswa. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas X.10 di SMAN 16 Bandar Lampung yang diambil dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Analisis data pada penelitian ini meliputi kepraktisan, keefektifan, dan ukuran pengaruh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepraktisan dan keefektifan pembelajaran discovery learning berkriteria sangat tinggi dan memiliki ukuran pengaruh yang besar dalam meningkatkan kemampuan metakognisi dan penguasaan konsep siswa.Kata Kunci: discovery learning, kemampuan metakognisi, penguasaan konsep.
