Abstract

Sambungan las baja konstruksi IWF JIS G3101 SS400 sering dijumpai hasil las yang kurang baik/cacat las yang akan mempengaruhi kekuatan sambungan seperti kekuatan tarik dan kekuatan impak. Hasil las yang kurang baik disebabkan salah satunya karena tidak tepatnya pengaturan kuat arus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh variasi kuat arus las SMAW terhadap kekuatan tarik dan kekuatan impak sambungan las baja konstruksi IWF standar JIS G3101 SS400. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen. Variasi kuat arus yang diteliti 150 A, 170 A, dan 190 A dengan kampuh V sudut 600, elektroda E7018, gerakan lurus, posisi bawah tangan, mesin las SMAW DC polaritas terbalik, dan pendinginan udara terbuka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi kuat arus 150 A, 170 A, 190 A berpengaruh terhadap kekuatan tarik tetapi tidak berpengaruh terhadap kekuatan impak sambungan las bahan baja konstruksi IWF JIS G3101 SS400.There are many defects encountered in weldments of JIS G3101 SS400 IWF construction steel. This defect affects the tensile and impact strength of welded joints. One cause of weld defect is the incorrect setting of the electric current. This study examined the effect of electric current variation in SMAW welding on the tensile and impact strength of the IWF construction steel. The research uses experimental methods. The variation of electric current being investigated was 150 A, 170 A, and 190 A. The weldments used 60 V-seam angle, E7018 electrode, straight motion, underhand position, reversed polarity DC SMAW welding machine, and open ventilation. The results showed that the variation in the current strength of 150 A, 170 A, and 190 A affects the tensile strength but had no effect on the welded joints' impact strength.
