Jurnal Dinamika Vokasional Teknik Mesin (JDVTM) is published by the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Yogyakarta. The journal is published twice a year in April and October. Each publication contains articles comprising high quality theoretical and empirical original research papers, review papers, and literature reviews. The scope of study of this journal includes mechanical engineering education, technology and vocational education, learning and curriculum development, learning method development, and learning media. All of the fields study, particularly in mechanical engineering vocational and education. The articles submitted should be attended to the particular topics above.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) discover a collaborative skills-based learning model for practical work invocational education programs which can improve the quality of learning outcomes; (2) determine the effect ofthe application of collaborative skills-based learning model for practical work towards the students’ attitude andlearning outcome. This RD and experiments research was carried out in manufacturing industry of machiningfield in Yogyakarta, and in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta StateUniversity. The population being studied was all of Diploma students of Mechanical Engineering study programwho enrolled in Complex Machining Processes course. Research sample of 33 students, divided in two groups,were determined by purposive sampling technique. The experiment was carried out by posttest-only controldesign. Content validation was done by expert judgment and items reliability with Alpha Cronbach formula andKR-20. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and t-test, with significance level of 0.05. The resultsshow that: (1) The collaborative skills-based learning model for practical work is suitable to be implemented inorder to improve the quality of learning outcomes in practical work; (2) The students’ attitude and learningachievement of the model class is better, or higher, than the controlled class.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menemukan model pembelajaran praktik berbasis collaborative skillpada program pendidikan vokasi yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas hasil belajar; (2) mengetahui pengaruhpenerapan model pembelajaran praktik berbasis collaborative skill terhadap sikap dan prestasi belajarmahasiswa. Penelitian RD dan eksperimen ini dilaksanakan di industri manufaktur bidang pemesinan diwilayah DIY dan di Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin FT-UNY. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswaprogram studi D3 Teknik Mesin FT-UNY yang melaksanakan kuliah Proses Pemesinan Kompleks. Pemilihansampel ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Eksperimen dilaksanakan dengan rancangan posttest-onlycontrol design. Validasi isi dilakukan dengan expert judgement dan reliabilitas butir dengan formula AlphaCronbach dan KR-20. Data dianalisis dengan analisis deskriptif dan uji-t, taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa: (1) model pembelajaran praktik berbasis collaborative skill cocok digunakan untukmeningkatkan kualitas hasil belajar praktik; (2) Sikap dan prestasi belajar praktik mahasiswa pada kelas modellebih baik atau lebih tinggi dibanding kelas kontrol.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics  and effectiveness of off-the-job training for  repairing damaged boom excavator  with GMAW welding processes in XXI Welder group at PT. Thiess. The research methods being used were Research and Development. Data were collected using observation, interview, test and questionnaire. The object of this study is class group, which is the apprentice group XXI Welder at PT. Thiess with 10 trainees as respondents. Data were analyzed  using comparative statistics techniques with a non-parametric test. Data were compared based on the results obtained from the research instruments. The result shows the characteristics of learning off-the-job training, which are:  learning is done based on case studies found in the workplace; the training participants is limited; the learning methods is group teaching, in which the learners are active with simulation methods. The effectiveness of learning off-the-job training were analyzed using non-parametric Wilcoxon comparative tests. From the pre-test and post-test data it was obtained the p-value of 0.007, so that 0.0070.05 therefore reject H0. It shows that there are  differences in the pre-test and post-test result of the learners.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik dan efektivitas pembelajaran off job training untuk perbaikan hasil lasan pada boom excavator yang mengalami kerusakan dengan proses pengelasan GMAW pada peserta apprentice program group XXI Welder di PT Thiess. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode research and development. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, tes dan angket. Objek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik Apprentice Program bidang Welder group XXI PT Thiess dengan jumlah responden 10 orang. Teknik analisis data berupa statistik komparatif menggunakan uji non-parametrik, data yang ada dibandingkan berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh dari instrumen penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik pembelajaran off job training yaitu peserta terbatas dengan pembelajaran berupa group teaching dimana pesera didik bersifat aktif dengan metode simulasi. Efektifitas pembelajaran berdasarkan uji non-parametrik Wilcoxon menunjukkan bahwa nilai untuk data pre-test post-test peserta didik p-value sebesar 0.007 sehingga 0,007 0,05 tolak H0 yang menyatakan bahwa ada perbedaan nilai pre-test dan post-test peserta didik pada pengembangan pembelajaran off job training perbaikan hasil lasan pada boom excavator.

Abstract

The purpose of this study are: (1) to determine the effect of elaboration organization strategy and textbook for students with distinct spatial cognitive style on learning outcomes of Mechanical Drawing course, (2) interaction between the learning strategy and the cognitive style in effect to the learning outcomes of Mechanical Drawing course. The methods being used was quasi experiment with 2 by 2 factorial design and Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Research population was all student enrolled in the Mechanical Drawing course. Results show that elaboration learning strategy perform better in the learning outcomes of mechanical drawing compared to using textbook, for students with high spatial cognitive. It also confirmed that there is an interaction between learning strategy and spatial cognitive which affects mechanical drawing skills of the students.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengetahui pengaruh strategi pengorganisasian elaborasi dan buku teks pada mahasiswa yang memiliki gaya kognitif spasial berbeda terhadap hasil belajar mata kuliah Gambar Mesin, (2) interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dengan gaya kognitif dalam pengaruhnya terhadap hasil belajar mata kuliah Gambar Mesin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi experimen yang dilaksanakan dengan rancangan faktorial 2 x 2 dan Prestest-Posttest Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik UNY yang mengikuti perkuliahan Gambar Mesin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata nilai keterampilan gambar mesin mahasiswa yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran Elaborasi sebesar 63,13 dan rerata nilai untuk strategi pembelajaran buku teks sebesar 57,97. Strategi pembelajaran secara elaborasi memberikan hasil keterampilan gambar mesin yang lebih tinggi daripada menggunakan buku teks bagi mahasiswa yang berkemampuan spasial tinggi. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan adanya interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dan kemampuan spasial yang mempengaruhi keterampilan gambar mesin mahasiswa.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to describe the many factors which pose as obstacles in the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in the TFL skills competency at SMK N 1 Seyegan Sleman Yogyakarta. These factors include teacher, infrastructure, lesson material and student. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. Data were collected by means of observation, interview and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman’s interactive model which includes presentation of data, reduction of data, and conclusion. Result shows that factors which pose as obstacles to implementing the 2013 curriculum can be viewed from several aspects: In the aspect of teachers, there is lack of socialization and lack of readiness of teachers. In infrastructure aspects, equipment do not meet the standards, and lack of workshop space, lack of safety equipment, many types of equipment had worn out, and lack of blank material for practice. In the aspect of teaching materials, there are no teaching materials or special module for TFL skills competency. In the aspect of students, obstacles are the long class hours, and inadequate equipment and tools leaving the students become unproductive.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor yang menghambat keterlaksanaan kurikulum 2013 pada kompetensi keahlian TFL di SMK N 1 Seyegan Sleman Yogyakarta meliputi aspek guru, sarana prasarana, bahan ajar serta peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data mengggunakan observasi, wawancara dan pencermatan dokumen. Analisis data menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman meliputi penyajian data, reduksi data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian adalah Faktor-faktor yang menghambat keterlaksanaan kurikulum 2013 dilihat dari beberapa aspek yakni; dari aspek  guru ialah kurangnya kegiatan sosialisasi dan kurangnya kesiapan guru. Pada aspek sarana prasarana ialah peralatan praktik belum memenuhi standar, kurangnya ruang bengkel, belum lengkapnya perlengkapan keamanan, peralatan sudah banyak yang telah usang, serta kurangnya bahan untuk praktik. Pada aspek bahan ajar ialah belum adanya bahan ajar/modul khusus pada kompetensi keahlian TFL. Pada aspek peserta didik ialah  jumlah jam pelajaran yang bertambah panjang.

Abstract

This study aimed to study the increase in learning motivation and academic achievement in mechanical technology subject using the mind mapping method. The research was carried out in SMK N 2 Klaten. This classroom action research was conducted in four cycles with study subjects of 35 students. Data were collected using questionnaires and exams observation sheets. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive. Results of this research are an average increase of student motivation by 27%, in which the average score of learning motivation is only 58% in the first cycle, increase to  64% in the second cycle, and increased to 79% in the third cycle and then to 82% in the fourth cycle. For student’ academic achievement, there is an increase of 68.6%. In the first cycle, the average mastery learning achievement test reached only 31.4% and 82.2% at the second cycle, and then increased to 100% in third and remains 100% in the fourth cycle. Students who pass the fourth exam 4 is 35 students.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besarnya peningkatan motivasi dan prestasi belajar teknologi mekanik menggunakan metode pemberian tugas pembuatan mind mapping. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dalam empat siklus dengan subyek penelitian adalah 35 siswa. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan angket lembar observasi dan soal ujian.  Analisis data  menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan rata-rata motivasi belajar siswa sebesar 27% dimana skor rata-rata motivasi belajar pada siklus I hanya sebesar  58% dan siklus II sebesar 64%, kemudian meningkat menjadi 79% pada siklus III dan pada siklus IV menjadi 82%, sedangkan untuk prestasi belajar siswa terjadi peningkatan sebesar 68,6%, pada siklus I rata-rata ketuntasan tes prestasi belajar hanya mencapai 31,4% dan siklus II meningkat menjadi 82,2% kemudian  meningkat menjadi 100%. dan siklus IV tetap pada 100%. Pada siklus IV dengan jumlah siswa yang tuntas ujian 4 mencapai 35 siswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine an applicable framework of CTL learning approaches and improving the competence of students using module as media. This research is a class action research comprising of three cycles. Subjects of this study were students of class XI machining TP 1 at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Bantul, with 26 students as respondents. The result of this study is a learning framework for CAD with CTL approach. The sequence of this framework are: directing the use of the module and the materials selection, the formation of discussion groups based on students’ computer skills, providing motivation and samples of CAD drawings used in the industry, providing drawing jobs that challenge students' knowledge, doing the drawing exercise within the group using the module as a knowledge source, groups discussion to find solutions to the problems, debriefing and reflection, and finally implementing an authentic assessment. Students’ competence has increased from the average value of 62.16 and 0% passed the test in the first cycle, to 82.69 and 84.62% passed in the second cycle, and to 80.68 with 100% passed in the last cycle.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kerangka pendekatan pembelajaran CTL yang dapat diterapkan dan peningkatan kompetensi siswa dengan media modul. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari tiga siklus. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa pemesinan kelas XI TP 1 SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Bantul dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 26 siswa. Hasil penelitian menghasilkan kerangka pembelajaran CAD dengan pendekatan CTL dengan urutan pertama pengarahan penggunaan modul dan penentuan materi, pembentukan kelompok diskusi sesuai dengan keahlian siswa, memberikan motivasi dan contoh pekerjaan CAD di industri, pemberian soal yang menantang pengetahuan siswa, mengerjakan latihan bersama kelompok dengan sumber pengetahuan dari modul, diskusi kelompok untuk menemukan solusi masalah, tanya jawab dan refleksi, dan terakhir melaksanakan penilaian autentik. Kompetensi siswa mengalami peningkatan rata-rata nilai dari siklus pertama 62.16 kelulusan 0% ke siklus dua menjadi 82.69 kelulusan 84.62% kemudian siklus terakhir menjadi 80.68 kelulusan 100%.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to determine the correlation between the knowledge of machining theory and the readiness for industrial work practice; (2) to determine the correlation between the ability of machining practice and the readiness for industrial work practice; and (3) to determine the correlation between the knowledge of machining theory and the ability of machining practice to the readiness of industrial work practice. This study can be categorized as correlation study with a quantitative approach. The population of the study is the XI graders of Machining Department in SMK PGRI Wlingi Blitar on the academic year of 2014/2015. Data were collected using questionnaire and documentation. Data analysis techniques being using were descriptive analysis, simple linear regression and two predictors multiple regressions. According to the data analysis, it can be concluded that: (1) there is a significant positive correlation between the knowledge of machining theory and the readiness for industral practice, (2) there is a significant positive correlation between the ability of machining practice and the readiness for industry practice, and (3) there is a significant positive correlation between the knowledge of machining theory and the ability of machining practice to the readiness for industrial practice. The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R Square) is 0,831 (83,1%).----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara: (1) pengetahuan Teori Pemesinan terhadap kesiapan Praktik Kerja Industri, (2) kemampuan Praktik Pemesinan terhadap kesiapan Praktik Kerja Industri, dan (3) pengetahuan Teori Pemesinan dan kemampuan Praktik Pemesinan terhadap kesiapan Praktik Kerja Industri. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI Program Keahlian Teknik Pemesinan SMK PGRI Wlingi Kabupaten Blitar Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015. Teknik Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif, analisis regresi linier sederhana, dan analisis regresi ganda dua prediktor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara pengetahuan Teori Teknik Pemesinan terhadap kesiapan Praktik Kerja Industri. (2) terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara kemampuan Praktik Teknik Pemesinan terhadap kesiapan Praktik Kerja Industri Industri. (3) terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara pengetahuan Teori Teknik Pemesinan dan kemampuan Praktik Teknik Pemesinan terhadap kesiapan Praktik Kerja Industri. Koefisien determinasi (Adjusted R Square) adalah sebesar 0,831 (83,1%).

Abstract

One factor that is considered difficult to implement by teacher in the 2013 Curriculum is authentic assessment. However, this can be overcome with an online report that was initiated by Dispendik for all schools in the city of Surabaya. The study aims to see the implementation of authentic assessment in the 2013 Curriculum at a school that have implemented online report in Malang, namely SMK Negeri 6 Malang. The method used was a case study using questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The validity of research findings was examined using data triangulation technique. The respondents were productive teachers who teach automotive skills in the same class so that there is a correlation between the data obtained from the teachers and the students. The result shows that the implementation of authentic assessment in the 2013 Curriculum at SMK Negeri 6 Malang is in good category and teachers were greatly assisted by the online report.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Salah satu faktor yang sulit untuk dilaksanakan oleh guru dalam Kurikulum 2013 adalah penilaian autentik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat penerapan penilaian autentik Kurikulum 2013 pada sekolah yang sudah menerapkan rapor online di Kota Malang. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus yang dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 6 Malang. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen angket, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Pengecekan keabsahan temuan penelitian menggunakan teknik trianggulasi data. Responden adalah guru produktif keahlian Otomotif yang mengajar pada kelas yang sama sehingga ada korelasi antara data yang didapat dari guru dan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Pemahaman guru SMK Negeri 6 Malang terhadap penilaian autentik Kurikulum 2013 sangat baik sebesar 90%, (2) Pelaksanaan penilaian autentik Kurikulum 2013 oleh guru SMK Negeri 6 Malang sudah baik sebesar 70, (3) Manajemen rapor online oleh  Tim  IT  sudah  baik  dalam  memudahkan  pelaksanakan penilaian autentik Kurikulum 2013 di SMK Negeri 6 Malang sebesar 80%.

Abstract

Along with the rapid development of personal computers, the use of computer software for various purposes is also increased. The calculation in engineering mechanics course, especially in the process of calculating statically indeterminate structures, the use of matrix is essentials. Matrix calculation were once considered less favorable, particularly in higher order matrices. It became much easier and much faster after the use of computer software capable of processing the matrix calculation. The advantages of using computer software for matrix calculation can also be used for engineering calculations in general.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Sejalan dengan pesatnya perkembangan komputer pribadi, penggunaan perangkat lunak komputer untuk berbagai keperluan juga semakin meningkat. Pada perhitungan mata kuliah mekanika teknik, terutama pada proses perhitungan konstruksi statis tak tentu, penggunaan matrik yang sebelumnya dianggap sebagai perhitungan yang kurang menguntungkan, terutama pada matrik yang berordo tinggi, menjadi jauh lebih mudah dan cepat dengan bantuan perangkat lunak komputer yang berkemampuan mengolah matrik. Manfaat dari pemanfaatan perangkat lunak ini dapat digunakan sebagai alat bantu perhitungan matrik keperluan teknik secara umum. Penggunaan perangkat lunak komputer berbasis matrik pada proses perhitungan konstruksi statis tak tentu mempunyai beberapa keuntungan dibanding dengan metode lainnya yaitu: (a) membutuhkan pemahaman yang lebih mudah, (b) tingkat akurasi bisa didapat sesuai dengan keinginan, (c) kecepatan penyelesaian yang tinggi.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to determine the correlation between the theory of the mechanical engineering and the readiness of industrial work practice; (2) to determine the correlation between the ability of mechanical engineering practice to the readiness of industrial work practice; and (3) to determine the correlation between the knowledge of mechanical engineering theory and the ability of the practice to the readiness of industrial work practice. This study can be categorized as correlation study with quantitative approach. The population of the study is the XI graders of Mechanical Engineering Department in SMK PGRI Wlingi Blitar year 2014/2015. The data collection techniques were using questionnaire and documentation. The data analysis techniques were using descriptive analysis, simple linear regression analysis and multiple regression analysis of the two predictors.      According to the data analysis, there were three conclusions as described: First, there is positive significant correlation between the acknowledgement of the theory of Machining Techniques to the readiness of industry practice. Second, there is positive significant correlation between the ability of the practice to the industry practice. Third, there is positive significant correlation between the acknowledgement of Machining Techniques Theory and the ability of its practice towards the readiness of Industrial Practice. As well as the coefficient of determination (Adjusted R Square) of 0,831 (83,1%).
