Abstract

This study aims to develop an algebraic learning video for class VII prototype curriculum with a valid, practical, and effective Metaphorical Thinking approach. The development model used is the Borg and Gall model, namely; (1) preliminary research and data collection; 2) planning; (3) development of the initial form of the product; (4) initial testing of the product; (5) initial revision of the product; (6) limited field testing; (7) revision of limited field testing; (8) extensive field testing; (9) revision of extensive field testing; and (10) dissemination and implementation. The product results in the form of videos are used as learning resources. Collecting data using a questionnaire that is used to test the validity and practicality, and tests are used to test the effectiveness. The validation results stated that the learning video was in a very valid category with a score of 3.60 from material experts and media experts with a score of 3.88. Four videos were implemented as learning resources in the face-to-face learning process and virtual google classroom at SMPN 1 Cibungbulang, Kab. Bogor. The results of the student response questionnaire showed that the video was very practical with a score of 3.45. The application of video has a positive impact on the achievement of student learning outcomes. Learning videos with a metaphorical thinking approach make it easier for students to represent algebra in everyday life, thereby increasing understanding of concepts. The results of the effectiveness assessment stated that the learning video had good results with a mean of 80.12.
