The purpose of this study to improve the writing skills of students through the approach description Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). The method used is action research (classroom action research), the research procedure assessment cycle (cycle). Each cycle consists of four stages, namely (1) planning, (2) action, (3) observation, and (4) reflection.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis deskripsi siswa melalui pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Metode yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research), dengan prosedur penelitian pengkajian berdaur (siklus). Setiap siklus terdiri dari 4 tahapan, yaitu (1) perencanaan, (2) tindakan, (3) observasi, dan (4) refleksi.Kata kunci: keterampilan menulis, deskripsi, CTL
