<![CDATA[Background One of the efforts to improve patient safety in hospitals is to implement effective communication between nurses and/or other health care workers. However, at RSD Mayjend HM Ryacudu Kotabumi, no effective communication training using the SBAR technique has been conducted. The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge, understanding, and practice effective communication with the S-BAR technique to nurses in order to prevent medication errors so that patient safety can be realized. Methods This training uses the lecture method, interactive discussion and simulation/role play of the implementation of effective communication with the S-BAR technique on 58 nurses at the RSD Mayjend HM Ryacudu Kotabumi, North Lampung on July 4, 2022. The media used is in the form of materials on effective communication using techniques S-BAR. Knowledge is measured by conducting pre and post-test before and after training. S-BAR communication practice assessment is carried out after role play through case examples. Results The average knowledge of nurses increased by 42.6% after the training. Nurses can also practice S-BAR communication techniques properly. Conclusion S-BAR communication training proved effective in increasing the knowledge and understanding of nurses to prevent medication errors. It is necessary to carry out routine monitoring and evaluation related to the implementation of S-BAR communication on nurses. Hospital management is advised to provide S-BAR communication training to health workers on a regular basis. Abstrak Latar belakang Salah satu upaya guna memperbaiki keselamatan pasien di rumah sakit (RS) adalah dengan menerapkan komunikasi efektif baik antar perawat maupun perawat-petugas kesehatan lain. Namun, di RSD Mayjend HM Ryacudu Kotabumi belum pernah dilakukan pelatihan komunikasi efektif menggunakan teknik S-BAR. Tujuan. kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, pemahaman, dan mempraktikkan komunikasi efektif dengan teknik S-BAR pada perawat guna mencegah kesalahan pemberian obat sehingga keselamatan pasien dapat terwujud. Metode. Pelatihan ini menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi interaktif dan simulasi/role play pelaksanan komunikasi efektif dengan teknik S-BAR pada 58 perawat pelaksana di RSD Mayjend HM Ryacudu Kotabumi, Lampung Utara pada 4 Juli 2022. Media yang digunakan berupa materi tentang komunikasi efektif menggunakan teknik S-BAR. Pengetahuan diukur dengan melakukan pre dan posttest sebelum dan setelah pelatihan. Penilaian praktik komunikasi S-BAR dilakukan setelah role play melalui contoh kasus. Hasil. Rata-rata pengetahuan perawat meningkat 42.6% setelah dilakukan pelatihan. Perawat juga dapat mempraktikkan teknik komunikasi S-BAR dengan benar. Kesimpulan. Pelatihan komunikasi S-BAR terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman perawat untuk mencegah kesalahan pemberian obat. Perlu dilakukan monitoring dan evaluasi rutin terkait pelaksanaan komunikasi S-BAR pada perawat. Pihak manajemen RS disarankan untuk memberikan pelatihan komunikasi S-BAR pada tenaga kesehatan secara berkala.]]>
