Abstract

Kata kunci: Berpikir kreatif, etnomatematika, kemampuan matematika, open-endedAbstractStudents creative thinking ability is one of the important aspects of learning mathematics. Open-ended problem based on ethnomathematics are one way to encourage students to improve their creative thinking skills. This study aims to describe students creative thinking ability in solving open-ended problem based on ethnomathematics that have high, medium, and low levels of mathematics. The type of research used is qualitative research. The study subjects were selected using purposive sampling technique. The selected subjects were grade VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Kalitidu, Bojonegoro, East Java. The instrument used in this study was a student’s creative thinking ability test in the form of open-ended problem based on ethnomathematics, and interview guide sheet. The data analysis technique was carried out in 3 stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result of the study, it shows that students with high level of mathematical ability meet the three indicators of creative thinking, namely fluency, flexibility, and originality. Students with medium level of mathematical ability meet two indicators of creative thinking, namely fluency, and flexibility. Students with low level of mathematical ability are not able to meet the three indicators of creative thinking, because students still have difficulty in explaining the solutions they write, and are bad at understanding problems. Keywords: Creative thinking, ethnomathematics, mathematics ability, open-ended
