Student activity in solving mathematical problems is an important thing that must be continuously improved in learning mathematics. For increase activity solving problem needed ability good metacognition. The purpose of this study is to describe the level of metacognition of students in solving HOTS questions on the material comparison of class VII SMPN 3 Mataram . This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive type involving 30 students as subjects. Data collection was carried out using tests , interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that students' metacognition is at the level of tacit use . In general, students at this level have not been able to solve HOTS type questions properly.
