Abstract

Abstract Balance is a person's skill or ability to maintain a stable body position or not fall when supporting against gravity in a certain field. Balance is influenced by many factors including age, gender, body mass index, and physical activity. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of The Otago home exercise program on dynamic balance in the elderly. This research design uses the Pre-Experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test. The independent variable in this study is The Otago home exercise program and the dependent variable is balance. Determination of the sample using inclusion, exclusion and drop out criteria. The study was conducted for 4 weeks. The average value of balance in the pre-test is 14.18 seconds which indicates the balance is in the bad category, while the average value of balance in the post-test is 13.49 seconds which indicates an increase in balance of 4.86%. Analyzed by using the paired t-test with the result that the p value is 0.000 where the p value <0.05, the test results are significant. This shows The otago home exercise program can improve dynamic balance in the elderly Keywords:Elderly, Dynamic Balance, The otago home exercise program Abstrak Keseimbangan merupakan keahlian atau kemampuan seseorang untuk mempertahankan posisi tubuh supaya tetap stabil atau tidak jatuh pada saat menumpu melawan gravitasi pada bidang tertentu. Keseimbangan dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor diantaranya usia, jenis kelamin, indeks massa tubuh, dan aktivitas fisik. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh The otago home exercise programme terhadap keseimbangan dinamis pada lansia . Rancangan pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode Pre-Eksperimental dengan one group pre-test and post-test. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah The otago home exercise programme dan variabel terikat adalah Keseimbangan. Penentuan sampel menggunakan kriteria inklusi, eksklusi dan drop out. Penelitian dilakukan dalam kurun 4 minggu. Nilai rata – rata keseimbangan pada pre-test yaitu 14,18 detik yang menandakan keseimbangan dalam kategori buruk, sedangkan nilai rata – rata keseimbangan pada post-test yaitu 13,49 detik yang menunjukan adanya peningkatan keseimbangan sebesar 4,86%. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan uji paired t-test dengan hasil nilai p adalah 0,000 dimana nilai p<0,05 maka hasil uji signifikan. Hal ini menunjukkan The otago home exercise programme dapat meningkatkan keseimbangan dinamis pada lansia. Kata kunci:Lansia, Keseimbangan Dinamis, The otago home exercise programme.
