<![CDATA[Background : The ability of newborns to produce heat often near the capacity of adults. However, the tendency of heatloss in cold environments are larger and can harm the newborn state. One preventive measure heat loss in newborns isthe early breastfeeding initiation.Purpose : This study aimed to determine the effect of the implementation of earlybreastfeeding initiation to thenewborns body temperature at Paten Maternity Hospital South Magelang.Methods : This study used a quasi experimental design with a post-test only design with total sampling tekhnique.Total sample of 30 newborn babies were born at Paten Maternity Hospital and met the inclusion criteria with a controlgroup of 15 newborn babies and 15 newborn babies as the intervention group. The method of Collecting data used theobservation sheet then it analised.Result : The results show an average temperature of newborn babies control group is 36.26 and the average temperatureis 36.94 for newborn babiesin intervention group. The results of t-test show that the p-value 0.000 is less than α 0.05. Itshows significant difference between the temperature of the newborn with early breastfeeding initiation and newbornbabies temperature without early breastfeeding initiation.Conclusion : It can be concluded that by booking early breastfeeding initiation will prevent newborn temperature, so itis advisable for all birth attendant to always carry early breastfeeding initiation in the newborn.Keywords : Early breastfeedinginitiation, newborns temperature]]>
