<![CDATA[This research was motivated by early marriages that occurred in Koto Tengah Village. Early marriage in this study includes the age at which marriage is stated in the marriage law, the mental and physical readiness of the couple, as well as the domestic life of the couple who entered into the early marriage. The Marriage Law states that marriages can be carried out when they are aged 19 years and over, but in one of Koto Tengah Villages every year there are residents who marry under the age of 19 years. Based on this, this research aims to identify the factors that cause couples to marry early and analyze how socio-economic life occurs in the households of early married couples in Koto Tengah Village. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, literature study and documentation. Meanwhile, the selection of informants was carried out using purposive sampling. This research uses the concepts of marriage, early marriage, family, household and socio-economics and Radclift Browm's functional structural theory. The results of this research explain that the factors that cause couples to marry early are factors community habits, factors MBA (marriage by accident), factors of parents economic condition, and factors quit or drop out of school. Socio-economic life in the households of early married couples is not running properly because they still live in the house of the woman's parents, meaning that in one house there is more than 1 household where their parents still help fulfill their daily needs..Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pernikahan dini yang terjadi di Desa Koto Tengah. Pernikahan dini dalam penelitian ini meliputi usia pernikahan yang tertera dalam undang-undang perkawinan, kesiapan mental dan fisik pasangan, serta kehidupan rumah tangga pasangan yang melangsungkan pernikahan dini tersebut. Undang-Undang Perkawinan menyatakan bahwa pernikahan dapat dilakukan ketika sudah berusia 19 tahun ke atas, namun di salah satu Desa Koto Tengah setiap tahunnya terdapat warga yang menikah di bawah usia 19 tahun. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan pasangan menikah dini dan menganalisis bagaimana kehidupan sosial ekonomi yang terjadi pada rumah tangga pasangan yang menikah dini di Desa Koto Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, studi kepustakaan dan dokumentasi. Sementara itu, pemilihan informan dilakukan dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep pernikahan, pernikahan dini, keluarga, rumah tangga dan sosial ekonomi serta teori struktural fungsional Radclift Browm. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan pasangan menikah dini adalah faktor kebiasaan masyarakat, faktor MBA (marriage by accident), faktor kondisi ekonomi orang tua, dan faktor berhenti atau putus sekolah. Kehidupan sosial ekonomi dalam rumah tangga pasangan pernikahan dini tidak berjalan sebagaimana mestinya karena mereka masih tinggal di rumah orang tua pihak perempuan, artinya dalam satu rumah terdapat lebih dari 1 kepala keluarga yang mana orang tua mereka masih membantu memenuhi kebutuhan hidup sehari-hari.]]>
