<![CDATA[ This classroom action research aims to determine whether the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) teaching model can enhance students' mathematical communication skills on the topic of two-dimensional shapes for eighth-grade students of Zaid Bin Tsabit Middle School IT Izzuddin Palembang in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The research was conducted in two cycles, encompassing four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 20 students from the 8th-grade class Zaid Bin Tsabit. Data were obtained through a mathematical communication skills test. Based on the research and analysis conducted, it was found that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model has a positive impact on improving the mathematical communication skills of eighth-grade students of Zaid bin Tsabit Middle School IT Izzuddin Palembang in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. This is evidenced by a significant improvement in mathematical communication skills between Cycle I and Cycle II. In the first cycle, the average score for mathematical communication skills reached 47.57, but in the second cycle, this average score increased to 72.75. Thus, there was an increase of approximately 36.68% in students' mathematical communication skills. Keywords: classroom action research; problem based learning; students’ mathematical communication skillAbstrakPenelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar kelas VIII Zaid Bin Tsabit SMP IT Izzuddin Palembang semester genap tahun pelajaran 2023/2024. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus mencakup empat tahap yakni perencana, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas VIII Zaid Bin Tsabit yang berjumlah 20 orang. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Berdasarkan penelitian dan analisis yang dilakukan, didapati bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) memiliki dampak positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis para siswa kelas VIII Zaid bin Tsabit SMP IT Izzuddin Palembang pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Ini terbukti dari peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan komunikasi matematis antara Siklus I dan Siklus II. Pada Siklus pertama, rata-rata nilai kemampuan komunikasi matematis mencapai 47,57, namun pada Siklus kedua, rata-rata nilai tersebut naik menjadi 72,75. Dengan demikian, terjadi peningkatan sekitar 36,68% dalam kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa.
