Abstract

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a part of the hospital to treat critical patients who require intensive care and are monitored 24 hours a day. Ceftriaxon is a cephalosporin antibiotic which has a broad spectrum and a long half-life and is widely used in ICU patients. The aim of this study was to determine the characteristics of ICU patients based on age, gender, length of stay, patient status, accuracy of indications, accuracy of Ceftriaxon drug dosage, and potential interactions of Ceftriaxon with other drugs given simultaneously.This research was conducted in the ICU of a Regional Hospital in Semarang on patients who received Ceftriaxon therapy during January-June 2022. Data collection was carried out retrospectively using a purposive sampling technique, then analyzed descriptively.Based on the research results, 322 patients met the criteria, in the study period with 343 cases. There were 174 male patients (54.04%). The largest age group was (56-65 years) amounting to 117 patients (36.43%), the longest length of stay was 1-3 days with a total of 207 patients (60.35%), the highest patient status was BPJS PBI 152 (47 .06%) patients. Ceftriaxon was given according to the correct indication in 80.76% of cases, and the correct dose in 339 (98.83%) cases. Potential drug interactions were found in 181 patients (56.21%)
