Perbandingan Orientasi Karir Siswa Keturunan Jawa dengan Siswa Keturunan Tionghoa

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran orientasi karir siswa keturunan Jawa dan siswa keturunan Tionghoa, perbandingan orientasi karir antara keduanya, serta implikasi pada penerapan layanan konseling karir. Skala psikologis diberikan kepada 260 orang siswa SMA di Kota Salatiga, serta 6 orang responden untuk dilakukan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan analisis kuantitatif yang mencakup deskriptif prosentase dan uji beda T-Test Polled Varians, serta analisis kualitatif hasil wawancara. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan, dimana rata-rata orientasi karir siswa keturunan Tionghoa lebih tinggi daripada siswa keturunan Jawa. Namun, apabila dibandingkan tiap aspek orientasi karir, siswa keturunan Tionghoa unggul pada aspek perencanaan karir dan aspek informasi dunia kerja. Sedangkan siswa keturunan Jawa unggul pada aspek eksplorasi karir dan aspek pengambilan keputusan karir. Implikasi pada penerapan layanan konseling karir, adalah diketahuinya isu-isu kultural yang muncul ketika memberikan layanan konseling karir dalam konteks keragaman etnis dan ras, termasuk bagi siswa keturuan Jawa dan siswa keturunan Tionghoa. The purpose of this study is to comparatively describing career orientation of Javanese student and Chinese student, and implications on the application of career counseling. Psychological scales were distributed to 260 high school students in Salatiga, and 6 respondents to be interviewed. Data analysis using descriptive quantitative analysis that includes percentages and different test polled Variance T-Test, and qualitative analysis of the interview results. The results found that there is significant difference of the average of career orientation between Chinese student and  Javanese students. Result also revealed that Chinese student has a higher average than Javanese student on career orientation. However, when compared to every aspect in career orientation, ethnic Chinese student superior only on career planning and world-of-work information. Meanwhile Javanese student superior on career exploration and career decision-making. Implications on the application of career counseling is cultural issues should be reflected in providing career counseling in the context of ethnic and racial diversity, including in Javanese and Chinese student.
