Abstract

Coastal sandy land as one of marginal land which potential become to be a sustainable productive land. Annual crops such as Sesame cultivation proper to developed as an agribusiness crops in coastal sandy land by chicken manure, or organic fertilizer and in organic fertilizer through the combination treatment of manure and inorganic proportionately. This study aimed to determine the best of time for fertilize on growth and yield of Sesame (Sesamum indicum L). This study conducted in Keburuhan, Purworejo, Coastal sandy land, Gadjah Mada's Agricultural station laboratory, from May until November 2014. This study used a factorial experiment Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four replications. Experiment arranged in with two-factor. First factor is the kind of variety: Sumberrejo-1, Sumberrejo-2. The second factor is, time of fertilize by chicken manure 11,25 tonnes/ha (75% of farmers recommendation)+inorganic fertilizers (N, P, K deficiency replacement dose equivalent to 18,75 tonnes/ha of chicken manure. Variable observed were: plant height, days to flowering, number of branch, root volume. The data analyzed by using analysis of variance at 5% level significance. Abstract

This activity aims to increase the productivity of cattle in farms of the people through improvement of feed. This event was held in the village whole observatories, District Selo, Boyolali. Proximate analysis carried out in the laboratory feed and Nutrition, Husbandry Program, Faculty of Agriculture UNS. The material used is a member Gapoktan Sari Bumi Handayani and KTT Lembu Suro, cattle weighing 269.50 ± 31,44 kg and feed. Green feed such as rice straw and concentrate (P0, P1 and P2). The method used is 1) a discussion and interviews using a structured questionnaire, 2) technology training and extension activities preparation of cattle feed and feeding management of livestock with FGD (Focus Group Discussion), 3) Method of pilot maintenance beef cattle feedlots system for 1 month. The parameters measured were feed intake, Added Daily Body Weight (PBBH), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) as well as the cost of revenue and 4) monitoring activities. The collected data is then analyzed and presented descriptively. The results obtained activity 1) the involvement of members of the two groupstotaling 22 people (18 men and 4 women) and the majority (55%) aged 41-50 years in counseling and training activities, 2) the level of knowledge and skills of farmers before and after activity increased (the results of the pre test and post-test of 4,91 to 8,04), 3) obtained two kinds of concentrate applied to pilot the maintenance of beef cattle, 4) monitoring the pilot obtained feed consumption for P0, P1 and P2 are respectively 206,08; 282,92 and 245,52 kg. PBBH to P0, P1 and P2 are respectively 0,80; 1,23 and 0,98 kg. FCR for P0, P1 and P2 are respectively 9,16; 8,20 and 8,93. Cost of revenue for the P0, P1 and P2 respectively is Rp 485.300,00; Rp 654.880,00; Rp 403.871,00 per head per month. The conclusion drawn is concentrate feed 1 (P1) is the best feed for optimizing the productivity of cattle. Keywords: complete feed, beef cattle productivity, farm people, Boyolali

Abstract

The purpose of this study to determine the quality of chicken carcasses were given rations containing omega-3 fish oil. This study uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications, each replication 4 free-range chickens. If treatment showed significance, then continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The treatment consisted of fish oil that is R0 = 0% (basal feed), R1 = (basal feed 98,5%+1,5% MI), R2 = (basal feed 98%+2% MI), R3 = (basal feed 97,5%+2,5% MI), R4 = (basal feed 97%+3% MI). The variables measured were the weight of the chest (g), the weight of the thigh (g), the weight back (g) and wing weight (g). The results showed that the use of fish oil in the diet provides highly significant effect (P<0,01) in the weight of the chest and thigh weights, but the effect is not significant (P>0,05) to the weights and the weight of the wing backs. The conclusion that the quality of carcass weights comprised chest, thigh weight, the weight of the back and the weight of chicken wings increased the ration of fish oil to the level of 3%. Keywords: carcass, chicken, fish oil.

Abstract

Wonogiri an area that is well known as an area where people are dominated by traders meatballs. Type meatballs offered vary from meatballs served with noodles in the form of soup or meatballs are sold singly or known as grilled meatballs. Things are very concerned about is the use of borax in meatballs often functioned as chewing of food. Borax poisoning can occur through food, one of which is meatballs as one type of food that is very familiar. This study aimed to analyze the content of borax in food, especially meatballs in Jatipurno village, Wonogiri. This type of research is descriptive laboratory with laboratory tests are qualitative and quantitative methods of flame with acid-base titration method. The population is all hawker meatballs in Jatipurno village, Wonogiri. Sample was taken by purposive sampling of each meatball sellers. The experimental results on samples compound identification borax meatballs with flame method, note that of the 50 samples tested meatballs did not produce a green flame which means not detected borax content in the samples. The final conclusion is that the meatballs were analyzed by flame proving that the sample was circulated in Jatipurno village, Wonogiri is not identified free of borax and borax content. Not to do quantitative research to determine levels of borax meatballs snacks for the qualitative research produces a negative value (does not contain borax). Keywords: Food Additives, meatball snacks, borax

Abstract

This research was aims to determine the effect of formaldehyde using as a protective material in the soy groats and lemuru fish oil mixtured to escape of the protein and poly unsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) by in vitro. The rumen fluid was derived from donor of the Ongole crosbred fistulated as much as 3 heads. The experimental design used completely randomized design factorial 2x3 pattern consists of two factors:the first factor (soybean groats:lemuru fish oil in the ratio 2:1 and 4:1) and the second factor (the use of formaldehyde at levels of 0%, 2% and 4% base on the dry matter) and was repeated 5 times. The parameters are consist of the nutrient content, the substrates soybean groats and lemuru fish oil the rumen fluid fermented PUFA content by in vitro. Results of the study are levels of protein, fatty acids  oleic, linoleic and arachidonic much available on soybean groats:lemuru fish oil protected formaldehyde at levels of 2% and 4%. The difference between the ratio of soybean groats with lemuru fish oil had no significant (P≥0,05) but significantly different at different levels of formaldehyde (P≤0,05). The conclusion are formaldehyde content of 37% with a level of 2% can be used for protection the soybean groats and lemuru fish oil with a ratio of 4:1 and is able to provide protein as well PUFA. Keywords: soy groats, lemuru fish oil, in vitro, PUFA, formaldehyde protection

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of farmers’ affection on adoption of innovation. The respondents used in this study were the members of Sido Rejo and Sido Mulyo groups in Bantul who had already obtained information about the innovation of compost. This research was conducted census through interviews of the object of research to obtain primary data. The influence of farmers’ affection on adoption of innovation was analyzed descriptively with sosiogram method. The results showed that both groups have one click with opinion leaders of each group leader. The conclusion of this study is the leader of the group is still the main direction in the dissemination of information in this regard as opinion leaders. Abstract

The aim of this research was study of women and man concerning on pig family farming on Arfak ethnic, West Papua. Descriptive study was done in agro-ecological zones, i.e. coastal, lowland and highland. A 22 pig farmers were involved and interviewed subsequently, 10 hh, 7 hh and 5 hh. The finding of this research was that pig production level of the women was smaller than man in pre-production. Although increases in production level till pasca production. Man pig farmers were still dominant keeping the animals. However, decision was done democraticly. Level of income kept by women and men were in the ranges of Rp 2 million to Rp 6 million. Keywords: gender, livestock agro-ecology, pre-production, production, pasca-production, Arfak.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the effect of coconut sugar paste in naturally fermented trash fish ensilage on chemical change. Grinded trash fish (Pomadasys macullatus) was mixed with coconut sugar paste (0, 15, 30 and 45%/kg fresh trash fish) without inoculation in plastic bag. Anaerobe incubation was conducted at room temperature (29°±1°C). Chemical change (pH, lactic acid, ammonia, non-protein nitrogen, peroxide value and free fatty acid) was observed during fermentation period of 0, 4, 8, 12, 20 and 24 days. The experiment which had a completely randomized design to select the best amount of coconut sugar paste and fermentation period in trash fish ensilage. Fresh trash fish and fermentation product (trash fish silage) determined by the proximate analysis (dry matter, ash, crude protein and crude fat). Result indicated that the pH decreased remained constan at 4,4 after 16-day fermentation. Lactic acid, ammonia, non-protein nitrogen, peroxide value and free fatty acid during fermentation significantly increased due to different levels of coconut sugar paste and fe rmentation period. Conclusively, coconut sugar paste at the level of 15%/kg fresh trash fish was the best combination in natural fermentation with 16-day fermentation period and the product was potential protein source (45% DM) for animal feed. Key word: Trash fish, coconut sugar paste, silage, fermentation.
