Abstract

This study was purposed to identify the spesies and the community structure of gastropods in Manokwari shore. The sampling used transect method at two observation stations, i.e Briosi BLK shore and Rendani shore. Each station has three transect lines parallel to the sea, each of which had 10 quadrats. These transects were placed on a seagrass beds. Data analysis was carried out including diversity index (H’), evenness index (E), dominance (D) and density of gastropods. The results showed that the water quality at both sampling locations could support the growth of gastropods. The species composition of the gastropods in two sampling locations consisted of 20 families, 28 genera, and 82 species. The diversity index (H’) in Briosi BLK shore was 3.14; evenness index (E) = 0,92; dominance (D) = 0,06 and density of gastropods 23,70 ind.m-2. The diversity index (H’) of gastropods in Rendani shore was 3,79 ; equitability index (E) = 0,90; dominance (D) = 0,03 and density of gastropods 83,33 ind.m-2 . Gastropods found were Strombus (Canarium) urceus urceus, Conus (Virroconus) coronatus, Chicoreus sp.2, Vexillum (Costellaria) mirabile, Polinices tumidus, and Imbricaria conularis. Based on the diversity index, the two stations are in a high diversity index so that there is no dominant species in the two locations, The gastropod density in Rendani shore was higher than that in Briosi BLK, it is suspected that the substrate is suitable and the amount of organic matter and then, far from the gathering place to support the growth of gastropods.

Abstract

Indian Scad, Decapterus russelli is the catch that dominates the Pasongsongan Fishing Port. The Indian Scad are caught throughout the year using the purse seine with and FADs. The intensity of catching, the number of vessels which tend to continue to increase in number, and the used of FADs can put greater pressure on the sustainability of the fish resources. Therefore, information on biological aspects, namely knowing the distribution of Gonad Maturity Level (Tingkat Kematangan Gonad/TKG) and Fecundity of Indian Scad in Pasongsongan waters is used as the objective of this research. This research was conducted in November 2019 - November 2020. The data analysis carried out was the Gonad Maturity Level (TKG) and its distribution based on the length and weight of the fish and their fecundity. The results showed that the distribution of the gonad maturity level varied from TKG I to TKG V for each month. However, based on the season, all levels of TKG can be seen from the catch both in the dry and rainy season. The fecundity of the fish in the dry season ranges from 5,929 - 25,470 points while in the rainy season it ranges from 364 - 23,216.

Abstract

The reopening of Red Island Beach since July 2020 still has several important problems that must be solved in order to overcome the spread of Covid-19 in tourism areas. The limitation of tourists has not been implemented properly by the tourist managers. It can be seen from the unrealistic decision of the tourist managers to still allow the visitors come even though it already passed the maximum of tourists that can visit during the pandemic. Meanwhile, based on the CHSE facilities, the result showed there are several things which still inappropriate and must be fixed. This research aim to examine the external and internal factors in the reopening of Red Island Beach and also form both of alternative and priority strategies which can be used for the future growth. The results of the data collected through interviews and questionnaires will be analyzed deeply using SWOT-AHP. After the SWOT analysis was found, it showed that the current position of Red Island Beach is in Quadrant VII, which means that the strategy suggested for the development of Red Island Beach is using the concentric diversification strategy. Meanwhile, the result of AHP analysis in all criteria and sub-cateria has a value CR < 0.1, it means the study is consistent and can be used for choosing the priority strategies in Red Island Beach. Those priority strategies are about increasing visitor managements and adding the supporting infrastructure that related with the value of the carrying capacity of Red Island Beach.

Abstract

The plastic waste production is continuing to increase in waters and has become a problem worldwide. This material, in particular for the size less than 5mm, called microplastic, has been polluting the environment and humans. The aim of this research, therefore, is to identify the presence of types and amount of microplastics in Caranx sexfasciatus cultivated in Ambon Bay waters. The research was conducted in April 2020 in some floating cages as a sampling site located in the Inner Ambon Bay. A purposive sampling method was applied to collect data. The types and amount of microplastics were analysed in zoology laboratory, Mathematics and Science Faculty University of Pattimura (FMIPA Unpatti). Data analysis was carried out by displaying the type and number of microplastics and discussed further. The result revealed that there were types of film and fiber with 95 particles and 685 particles, respectively. The presence of these two types of microplastics is due to the waste disposal activities that derive from the adjacent community and are carried away by tidal currents.

Abstract

A large number of gastropod species have similarities in morphology (cryptic) makes misidentification probably happen/occurred. Accurate species identification is needed in studying bioecology of species. This research aims to identify the species of Cassidulla sp. Which was collected from Peyum Beach Merauke with DNA barcoding techniques using COI gene markers. The primers used in this study are forward primers (LCO1490) and reverse primers (HCO2198). The result of identification with DNA barcoding showed that the species analyzed was Cassidula angulifera with a 99.53% similarity level with a DNA sequence length of 650 bp. Phylogenetic reconstruction showing the entire sequence of Cassidula sp. which were analyzed separately based on the type and genetic distance with high bootstrap value. Phylogenetic reconstruction of Cassidula sp. form a monophyletic group, which means that the species come from the same ancestors. DNA barcoding is very good and accurate in identifying species.
