Tgk. Muhammad Daud Beureueh was one of the leaders of Aceh who had a great contribution in developing Acehnese civilization. Besides known as an Islamic scholar, he was also known as a key person who developed education in Aceh. His educational ideas were not merely to educate young people to become academic community, but have political goals to provoke them to become a pioneer of the independence. Through the establishment of educational institutions, he propagated the idea of rebellion against Dutch colonialism. Keywords:

This study examines the application of the thawÄb and 'iqÄb methods in forming the character of students in Islamic elementary school in Aceh Besar. ThawÄb and 'iqÄb are methods done by giving reward (thawÄb ) on learners who are excellent or well behaved and punishment (' iqÄb) for those who violate the rules or do not behave well. In applying the method thawÄb and 'iqÄb in this educational program, problems arises between them those are which method should comes first and which should be mostly given to children as well as which one is more effective in forming the character of students. The results showed that: 1) the forms of applied thawÄb are material and immaterial things. The method forms 'iqab which is applied in Islamic elementary School in Aceh Besar is in form of 'iqab with cues, 'iqÄb with words, as well as 'iqab with deeds or action.2) Among the methods thawÄb and 'iqÄb, more effective method in forming the character of students is thawÄb method because of its influence on student character changes more durable than the application of' iqÄb. Regarding which method is more effective, it cannot be determined certainly, because every child needs a different treatment. However, in general it can be concluded that in Islamic elementary school in Aceh Besar thawab method used more dominant it can seen from the attitude of the educators were more put thawÄb method of the 'iqÄb. 3) The obstacle faced in applying thawÄb is related to financial. It need more money when the goods is quite expensive. Whereas the obstacle faced in the applying 'iqab is generally associated with fears of a disagreement with a parent about giving 'iqÄb applied in schools.

In line with the sharp competition due to technological development and environment the that is so dramatically in all aspects of human life, then every educational institution need professional human resources of education in order to provide excellent service and value. In other words, educational institutions are should not only able to provide satisfactory service (customer satisfaction) but also oriented on the value (customer value). The research results show that the development of human resources of education in MAN Bireuen consist of improving human resource education through teacher training. The necessary training is tailored to the needs of teachers. The training was carried out to take upgrade teachers’ performance that was low. Several obstacle faced in the development of education human resources the lack of teacher training and teachers’ knowledge in the field of information technology (IT). To solve these problems can be done through training program of teaching profession (PLPG) which aims to create a professional teacher and Teacher Competency Test (UKG). The Indonesian government should improve the quality of LPTK as teacher producers, and conduct teacher training on information and communication echnology (ICT) intensively.

Curriculum is one of important elements in education that need to be designed well in order to succeed teaching and learning process in schools. The meaning of praxis of curriculum is closely related to what and how educational curriculum had been validated and enforceable. This paper discusses the factual condition of curriculum in Indonesia, including the background of curriculum change since the promulgation of National Education System, and also about the implementation of the concept of Competency Based Curriculum (CBC/KBK), Education Unit Level Curriculum (SBC) and Curriculum 2013. The results of this study indicate that changes of curriculum are necessary. Nonetheless, curriculum changes implemented should have strong fundamentals and careful planning; hence it does not confuse the policy makers in the area of education.

The demand of equal rights of women in different spheres of life is one of the important agenda which voiced loudly today. Women’s achievements and skills in various aspects of life indicates that there is no difference between women and men. The results of this study show that women's participation in education at the University of Muhammadiyah is very good. It can be seen from the active participation of women in various educational programs in order to succeed teaching and learning process. While the impact of political existence in the university environment Aceh still shows a very little impact. It can be seen from the role of two women in the field of politics at the University of Muhammadiyah Aceh. Basically, Islam never distinguish between women and men. Islam permits women’s role in politics.

Good behavior (akhlÄq) is an action that is acted without any consideration. Good deeds mirror the sincerity of the soul driven from good behaviors. Good behaviorcan not be separated with aesthetics. One action done sincerily yields fineness. Talking in a polite and proper ways evoke lovefrom those who saw it. In reverse, if they speak rudely, people could feel the aura of arrogancy and scary. Those are the strenght of aestahic behaviour that can filter all the deviation of the human being toward misbehavior.

Instruments of Active, Creative, Effective and Fun learning (PAKEM) were created to measure teachers' knowledge about the PAKEM’s concept as a form of learning strategies implemented in teaching in schools and madrasahs. This study was conducted to produce empirical evidence on the validity and reliability of the PAKEM instrument using the RaschMeasurement Model analysis. A Survey study has been conducted on 30 teachers fromMadrasah Ibtidaiyah School (MI) in the Aceh Districts. The validity and reliability of the PAKEM instrumentswere tested with the Rasch.Measurement Model analysis usingthe Winsteps program. The unidimensionality test conducted showed standarlized residual variance of 37.9 % which is almost to the point of at least 40.0 % points desired by Rasch models . The Rasch Model analysis showed person reliability index of 0.77 and the item reliability index of 0.88 . In terms of polarity items showed that all the items have value Point Correlation Measure ( PMC ) positive means there is no conflict between the items and the constructs being measured . Value Mean Square also showed that all the items have a mean square less than 1.5 , which means the value of the measurement of productive unless the item Peng10 (2.21) and item Peng1 (3.88). For both of these items need to be re- examined because it has a problem in measuring validity. The results of this study have proved that PAKEM instrument has a standard value of validity and reliability to be usedin measuring knowledge PAKEM strategis for teachers.
