Abstract

The cultural tradition of tie cloth is a typical Indonesian tradition which is the origin of the cultural ecosystem of a region. Ikat cloth has even become an integral part of traditional ceremonial ceremonies, traditional marriage ceremonies, and religious ceremonies. Tie fabrics have different motifs in each region according to the peculiarities of the region itself. Lewokluok Village is a village in East Flores Regency, which has a variety of ikat motifs. The diversity of the ikat motifs is a symbol of unifying the culture of Lewokluok village from the many tribes that inhabit Lewokluok village. The provision of an tie craft center is an effort to overcome the problems faced by tie weaving craftsmen in preserving the tie culture, promoting tie weaving, and marketing the existing tie weaving works. The craft center is a place that is used as a center for production, promotion, tourism, and cultivation activities as well as the cultural development of an area. The design of the Lewokluok tie craft center uses the application of fractals. Fractal is a geometric shape that is irregular in shape, contorted but has similarities with itself. This fractal formation uses the principle of self-similarity from the basic pattern, namely the Lewokluok tie motif which is transformed into the form of building mass. This study uses a descriptive analysis method, starting from data collection consisting of primary data and secondary data. This data is obtained from the results of observations, interviews, and documentation as well as from literature studies and comparative studies of similar objects and themes. This data is then analyzed with various alternatives to produce the final design concept. In the end, it can produce a design center for Lewokluok tie weaving according to its function and purpose and increase the potential for cultural tourism in Lewokluok by applying fractals to the shape of the building that shows the characteristics of Lewokluok tie motifs.

Abstract

Books are windows to the world. In the era of 4.0 which continues to develop and advance, easy access to information and reading books can not only be obtained from the library, now reading can be done via a cellphone from a pocket. This ease of access does not necessarily make people willing to read. According to Unesco, Indonesia's reading interest is in the 2nd lowest rank. UNESCO says Indonesia ranks second from the bottom in terms of world literacy, meaning that reading interest is very low. According to UNESCO data, the reading interest of the Indonesian people is very concerning, only 0.001%. This means that out of 1,000 Indonesians, only 1 person is an avid reader. In a different research titled World's Most Literate Nations Ranked conducted by Central Connecticut State University in March 2016, Indonesia was ranked 60th out of 61 countries in terms of reading interest, just below Thailand (59) and above Botswana (61).

Abstract

Light is an important element in human life. Without lighting, humans cannot see an object visually. It is from the reflection of the light of these objects that humans visualize shapes clearly and see comfortably. The coffee shop as a public space certainly requires adequate lighting so that visual comfort is maintained. Visual comfort will be achieved if the terms and conditions for achieving visual comfort have been fulfilled, including the brightness level according to the recommended standards and the distribution of lighting according to the spatial layout according to the standards. With the aim to determine the natural and artificial lighting conditions in coffee shops and lighting standards for visual comfort, this study will use a comparative research method. Where this method compares lighting standards with research results. The results of this research are that the level of light intensity found outside and inside the building meets the SNI standard at 250 lux by taking data that has an average lux during the day and lux in the afternoon. The conclusion from this study is that BENING coffee & space on one of the visual comfort factors has met the visual comfort standards set by the SNI.

Abstract

The museum is one of the places where these stories from the past are brought together in dioramas and their collections, so that these stories live on and can be interpreted in depth and detail by future generations. The museum itself is a place of discovery of relics of the past, where people can explore and travel through history, remembering the past in their hearts and minds. The Bojonegoro region has a history that is important enough to be remembered by the Bojonegoro people themselves. Therefor Bojonegoro needs the Museum to become a facility for protecting historical items to always remind the struggle of the Bojonegoro region itself and can become a means of recreation and edutourism for the Bojonegoro region.

Abstract

The majority of hotels in Balikpapan use a modern look that does not accommodate tropical climate conditions. In addition, hotels in Balikpapan are also somewhat inconsistent with local architecture, so the buildings do not have a character that reflects local culture. This is one of the main reasons for designing hotels in Balikpapan with a tropical architectural approach. The character of this Tropical Architecture is the approach that will be applied to this design to anticipate tropical climate conditions which have quite high temperatures and humidity. The design approach that will be applied to the building is the determination of spatial orientation, shading, cross ventilation (air circulation), lighting and the use of traditional Dayak motifs. The method used in this design is the rational method. It is hoped that the Hotel Design in Balikpapan with a Tropical Architectural Approach can become a design that can accommodate the tropical climate, support the needs of people who are on business trips and become buildings that have local cultural characteristics in Balikpapan.

Abstract

The De Tjolomadoe Museum was originally a sugar factory which later underwent a revitalization after being neglected for 20 years by carrying out the concept of adaptive reuse. After the revitalization was completed, the building was reopened as a museum along with various other supporting functions. The widespread use of social media such as Instagram among the public, the De Tjolomadoe Museum also uses Instagram as a medium to interact and attract the attention of the wider community to visit this museum. As a result, many people are interested in visiting and documenting it through photos which are then uploaded to social media and uploaded by tagging the official Instagram account @detjolomadoe_official. This study aims to find the effect of photo composition on the architecture of the De Tjolomadoe Museum by uploading the Instagram photo tag @detjolomadoe_official. This research focuses on the exterior of the museum through photos tagged on the Instagram account @detjolomadoe_official. Photos are taken via screenshots which are then processed by classifying them based on the composition used. The research is continued with analysis and discussion in accordance with related theories. The discussion starts with photo composition preferences, layers in photos, and building elements that appear in photos. The photos obtained were able to strengthen the character of the De Tjolomadoe Museum into a monumental building because of its compositional arrangement.

Abstract

Indonesia has a distinctive array of architectural styles. Architecture that is rooted in regionalism offers a platform for the revival of traditional design elements in modern structures. One of North Sumatra's first private campuses is that of Medan Area University. The architecture and culture in this region are extremely varied. There is no prevailing architectural style like there is in Riau, West Sumatra, or Java. This campus uses conventional architecture in its construction as it is a university with an architectural study program. The scope of the use of regional architecture on a multicultural campus environment is investigated in this study. Several regional architectural applications have been made using the technique of observation and research of traditional architectural theories of the tribes living in North Sumatra.
