Abstract

A profession as a teacher and teaching activity are activities that often make people stressed. People who deal with stress effectively can reduce work stress if they get resources from the surrounding environment through social support. This study aims to test social support as a predictor to reduce work stress for Early Childhood Education (abbreviated ECE) teachers. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational causality design. The survey method used to collect data is by distributing instruments that had gone through the adaptation process. Convenience sampling was used to get 58 respondents. The research hypothesis is tested using simple linear regression analysis with SPSS Program for Windows Version 20. The result of statistical analyses presents that social support has a significant negative effect on stress at work. This research contributes to ECE teachers' social support and stress, where this topic is still limited to research.

Abstract

Covid-19 has brought many changes in our lives. One of them is the widespread use of gadgets in early childhood. Because learning is held online where their teachers at school should give children or students material, now they understand the material via smartphones or gadgets. Of course, it makes them less understanding of what is being said. It feels bored because it is not interesting. Their learning time is filled with entertainment such as playing games, watching videos, accessing social media, even to the point of addiction and forgetting time. Therefore, this article will discuss the use of gadgets, the impact on children, and how to take further actions to balance children's understanding between learning and playing.

Abstract

Geometric shape recognition ability is among preschool children's cognitive development indicators. It is necessary to design an innovative method to stimulate their cognitive development through play, such as geometry fun circuit play. However, this play needs further security on its effects on children's geometric shape recognition ability. The present study attempted to test the effect of geometry fun play on preschool children's geometric shape recognition. A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design was applied involving thirty participants. The experimental and control groups in this study showed a significance value of <0.001, meaning that the geometry fun circuit play significantly affects preschool children's geometric shapes recognition. Geometry fun circuit play is recommended as one of the alternatives parents, and teachers can use for stimulating preschool children's cognitive development.
