The method used in this research was collaborative classroom action research. The researchers conducted this research from December 2018 until March 2019 in Uttayan Suksa Krabi School, Thailand. In collecting the data, the researchers used observation, test, and documentation. The tests were given in pre-test, post-test 1 and post- test 2. The researchers analyzed the average score of each test to find out the increase of students’ vocabulary mastery after the action was conducted. After the researchers have conducted the action, the students’ vocabulary mastery has increased optimally. It could be seen from the score of pre-test that showed 55.3, post-test 1 was 68.6, and post-test 2 was 85.6. After applying the action, the researchers were able to solve the problem in increasing students’ vocabulary mastery. The students were able to pronounce, memorize and understand the words based on the context. By using Board Race game in teaching vocabulary, the students could easily understand and memorize the spelling of the new vocabulary. In the teaching process, when the researcher as teacher used game, the students were enthusiastic and enjoyed during teaching learning process. It can be concluded that board race game can increase students’ vocabulary mastery. It is suggested to use board race game as the alternative media in teaching learning English.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effect of application guessing game pic-pow strategy towards students’ speaking mastery at the first class of SMA Mathla’ul Anwar Menes. It employs the quantitative research with the characteristics of the true experimental design. It uses achievement test in collecting data involving orally pre and post tests. The findings reveal that application guessing game pic-pow strategy is able to help students to improve their speaking skill mastery. In the pre-test, the mean of experimental class is 38 and the mean of control class is 39, 13 while in the post-test the mean of experimental class is 92,75 and mean of control class is 79, 29. In the post test of t-test, the researcher can conclude that tcount ≥ ttable or 3, 0858 ≥ 1, 672 therefore Ha is accepted and there is a significant effect of application guessing game pic-pow strategy towards students’ speaking mastery.

Abstract

The research aims to know the effect of ESA method towards students’ writing on narrative text at the first grade students of MAN 3 Pandeglang in 2018/ 2019 academic year. The research paper employs non-equivalent control group design. It compares both of experimental group (O2-O1) and control group (O4-O3). In her research which is consisted of 172 that is took as sample 30 as Experimental Class and 30 as Control Class. In this research, the writers use the achievement test in calculating the need of data to the relevant problem, then, giving a treatment to the experimental class by using ESA method and using Lecturer method in control class. The writers use statistical computation in order to find out which hypothesis is accepted and which is rejected, (Ha) or (Ho). From research of data, it is found that tcount is higher than ttable in term of statistic, it could be seen that t-count ≥ t- table = 2,973 ≥2,002. It means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Based on the finding, the writers concluded that ESA method has an influence in teaching writing on narrative text because it can more explore their imagination on written form.
