Abstract

This research is to determine the novel by using analytical descriptive method. The uniqueness of the language use in the novel “Sehelai Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin” by Tere Liye and the novel  “Belenggu Merah Muda” by Tyas Damaria where the novel is motivated by socio-culture factors  and educational’s writer are express through story description. In the novel of Sehelai Daun yang Jatuh Tak pernah Membenci Angin” that has 41 usage of foreign language where included in phrases, clauses, or quotations. Besides, it has 11 usages of knowledge, whether it is social knowledge, medical science, law, and many others. There also 3 usages of greetings, meanwhile there are 7 language style in the sentences of metaphors, 1 metonymic, 15 similes, 10 idioms, 4 connotations, 6 personification, 54 hyperboles, 70 tautologies, and 1 figurative. In other novel “Belenggu Merah Muda” by Tyas Damaria, there are 37 usages of foreign language that consist of phrases, clauses or quotations. Where it has 15 usages of foreign language whether it is socio-culture, medical science, law, and many others, it also has language style such as 3 sentences in metaphors, 0 metonymic, 14 similes, 26 idioms, 1 connotations, 14 personifications, 10 hyperboles, 24 tautologies, and1 figurative. Abstract

The purpuse of this research was to determine model of Problem-Based Learning and Learning Motivation toward writing argumentation’s ability before using the problem-based learning. This research used the method of experimental method. The population of this research is the all students in the tenth grade of SMA Fitra Abdi Palembang with the total number 116 students and the total of the data sample of this research is 68 students. Based on the above, the writer used two-way anova analysis. Besides, the writer also found the result of this research: (1) there was a significant difference in writing ability between student who tought by using problem-based learning and conventional learning. Where the result  was 0,00 it means that the result was lower than significant level (0,05) and (2) there was an interaction effect toward writing argumentation’s  ability where the result of this research is 3,915, it means that higher than Ftab (3,32) with the significant level  (0,05) Keywords: Problem-based learning, motivation, writing argumentation

Abstract

This study was aimed to describe structure and social values in of the Folktales. This study used descriptive qualitative method with objective approach. The data sources were based on the book entitled “Kumpulan Cerita Rakyat Kabupaten Muara Enim” published by Muara Enim Regency 2009. Based on findings and discussion, there were some characteristics which described the main character, such as, kind person, helpful, selfish, stubborn, arrogant, unfriendly, conceited, firm and calm. These characteristics were applied by the main character in that story. Furthermore, social values contained in that story were the relationship of human being in social life. People like a leader who had a kind and wise charachteristic. People have to appreciate each other to gain respect. There was no feeling to revenge though other people did a bad thing, especially in willing to sacrifice and devoted value to their parents. By this situation, we have to exploit district literature, especially folklore as “a bridge” to teach education values for our next generation to be better behaved, virtuous, and educated person. Keywords: analysis, structure, social value.

Abstract

This research was to describe the socio-cultural elements in the novel “BulanTerbelah di LangitAmerika” by HanumSalsabiela and RanggaAlmahendra. The significance of this research was to increase of knowledge in literary analysis and to assist the reader in expressing of meaning that contained in the novel by using socio-literary approach. The data of this research was taken by novel “BulanTerbelah di LangitAmerika” by HanumSalsabiela and RanggaAlmahendra. The method of this research was using qualitative method to obtain the socio-cultural element in the novel and the technique for collecting the data, the writer used content analysis. Based on the result of this research, the writer found that the novel describing socio-reality and becoming a document between socio-culture and western culture toward Muslim in America was being WTC among Islamophobia in America, tragedy of collapse of WTC building on September, 9th, 2001, social habitual in America and the historical facts of Islamic Civilization in America. Keywords: Socio-Cultural Elements, Novel “BulanTerbelah di Langit America” by HanumSalsabiela and RanggaAlmahendra

Abstract

Novel can be understood by studying from various aspects and approach one of them by using approach of Literary Psychology. Research in the Novel of the Moon Split in the sky of America by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra is focused on  Personality figures included in the type of id (Das Es), Ego (Das Ich) and Super Ego (Das Ueber Ich) according to the theory of Sigmund Freud, Based on the results of research related to the study of literary psychology in novel Moon Splitted in the Sky American by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra can be put forward as follows (1) Story in the novel of the Moon Split in the Sky America The work of Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra is centered on the central figure, whereas the additional figure of the writer described by the author is seen as a result of the actions performed by the main mat (2) the personality of the figure based on Singmund Freud's theory in the novel of the Spherical Moon in the Sky America In accordance with the problem formulation that is (a) aspect Id (Ice Dai) which includes change facial expression to (B) Ego (Das Ich) which is the nature and feelings of the characters such as the feeling of annoyance, sadness, and sadness , Tortured, and happy, (c) Super ego (Das Ueber Ich) embodied in the form of interaction of the characters with others, remind each other in the goodness, and the internal conflict that occurs within the characters and kinflik that occur between characters with characters Others. Keywords: Psychology, Literature, Moon novel Split in American Skies

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve the writing skill of fourth grade students of  SD 24 Air Saleh. This study was conducted in two cycles. The data obtained from the observation of teacher and student activities while learning, while to measure the success of writing ability pantun evaluation test in each cycle. In the first cycle the average value of the students 'activity is 57.90%, in the second cycle, it reaches 85.23%, meaning that the students' activity is increased by 27.33%. Furthermore, the value of students' ability in writing pantun in the first cycle reached 62.33, after the action taken on the second cycle reached 76.83. So there is an increase of 14.4. Based on these values, it can be concluded that the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning approach can improve the writing ability of fourth grade pupil of 24 Air Saleh State High School. Keywords: Contextual Teaching and Learning

Abstract

This study aims to describe the character of the characters, moral values, and cultural values contained in the novel Love Sparks in Korea by Asma Nadia. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative which meant to get figures character, moral values and culture values in Love Sparks in Korea novel by Asma Nadia. Data was collected by library techniques, then recorded in paper based on figures character, moral values and culture values which contained in novel and analyzed. The result of this study are as follows. First, There is thirteen figures character which contained in Love Sparks in Korea novel by Asma Nadia. Second, The strongest moral value which contained in Love Sparks in Korea novel by Asma Nadia is honesty, responsibility, Independently, braverly and modestly. Third, there are culture value which grouped in five relationship patterns, namely: (1) culture value in relationship of human and god; (2) culture value in relationship of human and nature; (3) culture value in relationship fellow human beings; (4) culture value in relationship of human and community; (5) culture value in relationship of human and them self.Keyword : Character, moral values, and cultural values.

Abstract

Background in this research is learning comprehension reading never increase because using conventional method. The formulation of the problem in this research is 1) How is the model of cooperative learning model Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) can improve students ability in reading comprehension of short story?; and 2) How is the result of improving students ability in reading comprehension of short story by using STAD type cooperative learning model ?. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). Technique of collecting data in this research use Observation and test. The conclusion of the research result shows that the application of Cooperative STAD type learning model can improve reading comprehension ability in the students of Grade V of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Hijriyah 6 Palembang. In cycle 1 only 4 people (13.33%) of the students who complete the value of KKM 75, and the remaining 26 people (86.67%) did not reach KKM 75. In cycle II showed that 18 people (60.00%) students who (KKM 75) did not reach KKM 75. In the third cycle, the students who complete the KKM 75 score of 29 (96.67) and the rest only 1 person (3.33 %) did not reach KKM 75. This means that the achievement rate of learning achievement of 85% is categorized as successful and does not need further action of the next cycle. Keywords: reading comprehension, STAD type cooperative learning model, short story
