Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the relationship between stocks ownership by directors and commissioner and bank bankruptcy. Sample of 34 banks were selected from 111 banks where their CEO and commissioner at the end of 1995 were also shareholders of their bank.The result shows that commissioner stock ownership was significantly related with bankruptcy. Meanwhile, CEO stock ownership shows insignificant relation with bank bankruptcy

Abstract

Market orientation has been identified as a managerial focus which can enhance firm performance.  However, this assumption increasingly is met with skepticism. There is no unequivocal evidence as to if and when market orientation has a positive impact on business performance. The exact mechanisms concerning performance enhancement are not fully understood. Current research proposes that the mechanisms by which market orientation enhances performance relies on the existence of aninnovative culture.  Innovativeness mediates the relationship between market orientation and performance.

Abstract

The fluctuation of foreign currency exchange has given a negative influence towards cash flow and firm's value, and it also threats the related-company survive. In the other hand, the company obligates to maximize the shareholder's value. Therefore, to anticipate the negative influence of foreign exchange fluctuation and also to prevent it for the shareholder's importance, thus partly firms have done a hedging policy with foreign exchange derivative instrument. This research has been done to achieve the implication of good managerial both for the investors or the management.This research aims to analyze the influence of hedging policy and foreign exchangederivative instrument towards the shareholder's value with value-drivers control variables. The shareholders value uses Market-to-Book Value of Equity ratio (MBE) indicator. The hedging policy is reflected dummy variable. Whereas the variable control that is used is Total Asset Turnover (TAT), Operating Profit Margin (OPM), Net Fixed Asset to Total Asset (NFA TA), Current Ration (CR), and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER). The type of data that is used is secondary data that gained from !GMO 2003 - 2004 and JAKARTA STOCK EXCHANGE web site. The research population is the whole non-financed companies in JAKARTA STOCK EXCHANGE. The purposive sampling with full sample method gains 104 emitters as the sample during the period of 2000 - 2003. This research uses regression analysis with Least Square Dummy Variable (LSDV) model. The hypothesis test uses t test and F test with 5 % significant level. This research result shows that the hedging policy with foreign exchange derivative instrument in JAKARTA STOCK EXCHANGE does not influence the shareholders value. This is caused by the characteristic of JAKARTA STOCK EXCHANGE that have emerging market characteristic, whereas the United States' stock exchange has developed market characteristic. Then the whole of control variables both partiallyor simultanly contributes a significant influence towards the increasing of shareholders value.

Abstract

In buying a service, consumers often find it is difficult to choose a suitable service provider that will serve them as they are expected. This is happened because the nature of a service is intangibility so consumers can assess the quality of a service after they consume it. One easy way for consumers to obtain information about a service is by asking someone who has consumed  the same service before. This is called word of mouth = WOM. Some researches indicate that WOM can influence the possibility of a consumer to choose and buy a service. Furthermore, an unsatisfied consumer will tell more people about a bad service than a satisfied consumer who will tells less people about a good service. This means that someone who accepts the information especially about negative WOM will possibly not do the same service purchasing. WOM can influence the possibility of someone's intention to buy a service according to a research conducted by Charlett et al in 1995. Februadi and Kusdibyo conducted the same research in 2003 and the result showed sameness  to Charletrs.  Particularly, the research also indicated that the negative WOM have a stronger influence compared to positive WOM. Therefore, service providers have to improve their service quality in many ways in order to deliver the suitable value for consumers. A service marketing strategy is needed here which difference than a product marketing strategy. In lessening the negative impact of WOM, a service provider better to conduct a service marketing covering internal marketing, external marketing, and interactive marketing.

Abstract

Berangkat dari kesenjangan antara pengajar atau pelatih atau nara-sumber pada Pelatihan bagi usaha mikro,  usaha kecil dan KOPERASI dengan para peserta kursus,  pelatihan atau pembinaan usaha mikro,  usaha kecil dan KOPERASI.  Masalah  tersebut berawal dari keterbatasan kemampuan pengajar yang biasanya berangkat dari buku atau literatur dan sama sekali tidak mengenal realita yang terjadi dan fakta yang sudah menjadi kultur manajemen dan marketing para pengusaha mikro,  pengusaha kecil dan KOPERASI.Materi MANAJEMEN dan MARKETING yang diberikan pasti sama dari waktu kewaktu.  Manajemen selalu menampilkan bahan-bahan  tentang fungsi-fungsi manajemen : planning,  organizing,  actuating dan controling sedangkan marketing selalu menyajikan masalah promotion,  price,  place dan product.Pengafar dari Perguruan Tinggl yang dikatakan lebih hebat semakin jauh dari realitas karena  lebih mengutamakan mengamb/1 sumber-sumber terbaru dan mutakhir dari jurnal manafemen  terbaru yang berasa/ dari negara-negara maju yang kondisi dan keadaannya sangat jauh berbeda.  Akhirnya  tujuanakhir dari penyelenggaraan pelatihan dan pembinaan bagi usaha mikro, usaha kecil dan KOPERASI akan jauh dari harapan.  Para peserta hanya mengantuk dan pulang dengan bingung karena bahan yang diperoleh tidak (J1ungkin diterapkan pada usahanya.Untuk menjembatani masalah “jurang" antara pengajar UKM dengan UKM maka observasi sosiologi-ekonomi ini berusaha memulai pembahasan manajemen dan marketing  UKM dengan memotret realita manajemen yang ada di pasar tradisional.  Metode  observasi sosiologis yang berusaha memotret fakta,  menjadikan pasar tradisional sebagai laboratorium manajemen.  Ahli sosio/ogi menjadikan kota sebagai laboratorium.  Cara memotret fakta dengan metode sosiologis memang berbeda dengan penelitian yang dilakukan oleh disiplin ilmu manajemen yang menganggap bahwa a/at analisis statistik yang rumit dianggap lebih canggih padahal a/at analisis  statistik justru memerlukan banyak sekali penyederhanaan. Selanjutnya apalah arti dan manfaat sebuah perencanaan strategis jika semua berawal dari suatu penyederhanaan.  Observasi sosiologi-ekonomi pada tu/isan ini mengambil obyek PASAR TRADISIONAL

Abstract

Improved efficiency is the main effect expected from fiscal decentralization. It could be gained on the presumptions that local governments are much better in identifying and fulfilling local public preferences, since they are closer to them, and in mobilizing and using local resources to pay for goods and services having purely local impacts. Once improved efficiency could be gained, public sector performance increase. I developed a model to measure public sector efficiency (PSE) and public sector performance (PSP). I compute public sector performance (PSP) and Public Sector Effociency (PSE) indicators comprising a composite consists of five sub-indicators. The first two indicators reflects socio-economic indicators that take into account education and health outcomes. Three other indicators reflect the standard "musgravian" task for government: a/location, distribution and stabilisation. Then, the model is applied to measure public sector performance and efficiency of Kabupaten/Kota in Central Java Province.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola produksi, jumlah produksi dan nilai produksi, serta faktor faktor yang mempengaruhi harga ikan kembung dalam pelelangan di TPI PPN Brondong Lamongan Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode studi kasus. Alat analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) statistik diskriptif dan (2) Statistik parametrik. Model regresi untuk penelitian ini dihipotesiskan sebagai berikut: HRGKB = f (PRODKB, PRODLY, Ceteris Paribus) Hasil riset menunjukkan bahwa pola produksi ikan kembung berfluktuatif, disebabkan oleh adanya pengaruh musim ikan. Jumlah produksi terbanyak pada waktu puncak musim (Agustus)dan terendah pada musim sepi (Maret). Hasil analisis regresi didapatkan dua variabel yang mempengaruhi harga ikan kembung, yaitu jumlah produksi dan harga ikan pengganti dengan persamaan HRGKB  = 2371.35-0,946 PRODKB + 0,007 HRGLY. Koefisien PRODKB bernilai minus, berarti jika produksi kembung meningkat, maka harga ikan kembung akan mengalami penurunan, demikian sebaliknya.

Abstract

This paper discusses  the theoretical concept of environmental disclosures and earnings management. Two theories  are used in the framework, namely: fegitimacy theory and political costs theory. According to legitimacy theory, firms will disclose environmental information to their stakeholders in order to maintain legitimacy. On the other hand, political Cost theory asserts that politically visible companies (e.g. large, high profit), are vulnerable to political costs and hence will attempt to reduce the possibility of adverse political attention. In doing so, these firms may convey environmental campaigns through voluntary disclosure and, lobby the politicians by managing earnings. Previous studies have revealed consistency With the arguments above. Studies on environmental disclosures found that firms disclose environmental information to maintain legitimacy. Other studies showed that environmental disclosure is associated with size and industry sector, as the proxies for political costs. Recent investigations also found that firms engaged in earnings management in order to reduce political costs derived environmental litigations, potential environmental regulations and poor environmental performance. It is concluded that more empirical studies are needed to refine the environmental­ related earnings management area, whereas research methodology may be focused on the environmental disclosure area.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh variabel work-family balance dan program family friendly terhadap kepuasan kerja perawat R.S. Panti Wilasa Semarang. Data yang dlgunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer yang bersumber dari perawat sampel. Hasil kajian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan dari variabel work-family balance dan program family friendly terhadap kepuasan kerja. Temuan dari studi ini mengindikasikan perlunya peningkatan kepuasan kerja perawat melalui penciptaan kondisi work-family balance dan program family friendly.
