Abstract

Background:  Mediastinal teratoma is a medical rare disease that refers to the presence of a regrowing teratoma tumor in the mediastinum. At the pulmonary hospital dr. Ario Wirawan Salatiga, only one case was found, where the patient had previously been operated on at another hospital. Objective: The purpose of this paper was to contribute to the radiology literature by presenting a case of recurrent teratoma.Case Presentation: A 19-year-old male patient complained of persistent shortness of breath. The patient previously underwent teratoma surgery. The patient underwent chest X-rays, CT scans, abdominal and cardiac ultrasounds (USG), and as well as biopsies. The results of the CT scan found a teratoma-type mediastinal tumor accompanied by a large amount of pericardial effusion. A hyperechoic lesion with well-defined borders, round-oval, lobulated, and very large in size. Location in the mediastinum that is urgent and involves the left ventricle, right ventricle, left atrium, and right atrium. There is also an aortic compression lesion accompanied by calcification (+). Examination by ultrasonography (USG) of the heart found many pericardial but not found pressing. Heart valve function in patients did not show any abnormalities. Conclusion: Recurrent teratomas with large-volume pericardial effusions are rare. In this case study, a teratoma is located in the mediastinum. In this case, axial, coronal, and sagittal slices of a contrast thoracic CT scan can be used to establish the diagnosis. The results of heart USG found a pericardial effusion, the heart chambers do not collapse in this case of recurrent teratomas, indicating a mature teratoma type.

Abstract

Background: Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDP) are a leading contributor to maternal, fetal, and newborn death all over the world, including in Indonesia. Routine pregnancy check-ups and nutritional status can prevent pregnancy complications due to HDP.Objective: To increase health workers’ knowledge about the importance of blood pressure check-ups and adequate nutrition during multiple pregnancies. Methods: The PKM material was delivered through online seminars with 20 employees and their families at Asri Medical Center Hospital. The material provided included knowledge about women's health, multiple pregnancies, nutrition for pregnant women, as well as hypertension in pregnancy, and their management. Pretest and posttest was conducted. The analysis method used Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. Results: The analysis showed a 25% increase in knowledge from the results of the pretest of 75% to a total of 100% at the time of the posttest (p < 0.05), which suggests that there is a difference in the respondents’ knowledge levels about the importance of nutrition and examination of hypertension in multiple pregnancies. Conclusion: There is a significant difference in knowledge about the importance of nutrition and examination of hypertension in multiple pregnancies before and after the seminar at AMC Muhammadiyah Hospital.

Abstract

Background:  Herbal medicine is currently one of the therapeutic options chosen by the community because it is considered relatively safer and has minimal side effects. Not only used as a single drug, but herbal ingredients can also be combined with synthetic drugs. However, using herbal and synthetic drugs simultaneously can cause a variety of interactions, including synergism, antagonism, and additive effects (potentiation). Objective: Therefore, it is crucial to do a literature study on the reaction of various herbal medicines to unwanted synthetic drugs to prevent the adverse effects that can be caused. Methods: The literature review is processed based on academic journals published on NCBI, PubMed, and online journal sources that discuss the interactions between herbal medicines and synthetic drugs from 1997 to 2022.Results: Herbal drug interactions can be avoided or managed by providing correct patient advice based on reliable information. Conclusion:The main basic principles of administering these medicines include the doctor's full awareness of the effects and interactions between herbal medicines and herbal medicines and herbal medicines with synthetic drugs.
