Abstract

Nudibranch are a mollusk which can be found in all zones of ocean. Further, they are distributed widely from subtropical to tropical areas. The Nudibranch is characterized by lack of a shell and usually have a bright shiny color. Nudibranch has a potency to be used in the medical field because they have chemical compound inside their body. These chemical compound are the result of secondary metabolites from symbiosis with zooxanthellae in nudibranch tissues.  This research aims to study the structure of epidermal tissue of the Phyllidia coelestis collected from Pasir Putih, Situbondo, East Java Indonesia. The results showed that the epithelial structure of the Phyllidia coelestis composed of cuboidal epithelium with vacuoles spread regularly along the mantle layer below the epidermal layer. Gland cells are rarely found in the outer epithelial layer. The foot epidermal layer consisted of simple ciliated columnar epithelial cells, with goblet-shaped mucous secreting glands among the epithelium. Gill tissue structure was composed of cell layers of cuboidal ciliated epithelial cells resting on a basement membrane and connective tissues

Abstract

Developments in all fields demand changes in learning, including at university level. Various skills for successful life in the future must be trained in students, including information literacy. This study aims to get an overview of students’ information literacy proficiency based on their experience during high school, the main source of information ever used, and the students’ perception of information literacy capacity. This study used a survey method, with an information literacy questionnaire distributed to 89 first-year students of the Biology Education Study Program, Universitas Tidar. The collected data were analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of the study it was found that students already had the experience of accessing information for completing assignments during high school. Information obtained by students is mainly obtained from Google and books. However, the use of Google as a search engine has not been directed towards finding quality sources. Students are still have low capacity in information literacy skills, especially those relating to the use of information effectively and ethically. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for establishing information literacy training programs in Biology Education Study Program Universitas Tidar, both integrated in the subjects and on their own.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) learning models in Biology subjects in improving student learning motivation. This research is a classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles, each cycle consists of four stages consisting of action planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were students of class XI IPA 2 Malang State Senior High School 6, totaling 37 people consisting of 10 male students and 27 female students. The study was carried out for 4 months, in the nervous system material (structure, function, impulse delivery principle, reflex motion, nervous system composition, nervous system in animals and the influence of drugs on the nervous system) as well as material about the hormone system (hormonal characteristics, neural and hormonal relationships, endocrine glands, vertebrate hormones, and invertebrate hormones). Learning motivation data is obtained by comparing the motivation score of cycle I and cycle II, the student learning motivation test consists of 30 questions with five answer choices, namely the scores of one, two, three, four, and five. Determination of the success of student motivation actions is determined by scoring the assessment of Benchmark Reference (PAP) of the State University of Malang (UM) using a Likert scale. The conclusion in this study is that the STAD model can improve student learning motivation, as it is proved by the increase in the percentage from 61.5% (moderate) in the first cycle to 83.9% (good) in the second cycle

Abstract

SRFG (Sustainable Reserve Food Garden) is a program has an important role to achieve self sufficiency food in community. This research and development has aims to development of learning tools with Project Based Learning (PjBL) model to improve SRFG program for grade X students . Test development product consists of validity test, practicality test and effectiveness test. Procedure of development adapts model of development Thiagarajan (1974) which only consists of 3 steps: 1) define; 2) design; and 3) develop. The results  of  validation test showed that learning tools is very valid because the average percentage of assessment over 85%. The result of  practicality test showed that learning tools is very practical  because it can be applied in the class and the average percentage of  practical level is 95.3%. The results of  effectiveness test showed that learning tools is very effective because of increase in test scores, the average percentage of student activity is  91.2%, the products has positive respond by 81.1% of students and teacher.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the factors that influence first year students to choose Biology Education study program in Universitas Tidar and further discover the dominant one. Survey used as a data collection method in this study with population included all 90 first year students of Biology Education study program in Universitas Tidar in 2018. Sample size in this research is 74 students which is determined by Slovin formula. This research’s data was collected using closed model Likert scale questionaires and then analyzed descriptively and factor analysis exploratory using SPSS 22.00 for windows. The results showed that there are four factors that influence first year students to choose Biology Education study program in Universitas Tidar: (1) campus condition (with variables encompass: tuition fee, campus administrator, and campus location); (2) self motivation (including variables: interest, future goals, and talent); (3) campus attractiveness (consists of variables: career opportunity, campus facilities, and campus promotion); and (4) reference group (with variable: parents and friends influence). Campus condition factor was found as the most dominant factor while interest as the most dominant variable.

Abstract

The use of question instrument in determining achievement of students’ study goal can be referred from the score achieved by the students in solving contextual questions with solution or solving strategy in high level of thinking. The research aims to get integrated assessment toolsof conceptual understanding of Pteridophyta and metacognitive skill that is validated and can be used in learning activity. The research is conducted in July 2018 – November 2019 at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, course of Botany Cryptogamae, sub-course Pteridophytes. This is a Research and Development study using 4D method (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). However, the research will be conducted up to the develop phase only. The result shows that integrated assessment toolon conceptualunderstanding of Pteridophytesand students’ metacognitive skill is proper to be used, with expert validation result shows 78.13 on criteria for concept understanding, and 79.17 for students’ metacognitive skill. Result of instrument validation shows more than 0.396, means it is valid, and reliability more than 0.6.

Abstract

The availability of teaching materials in SMP and MTs Nurul Muchlishin is limited. Thus, some students need to copy the textbook and simple teaching materials with a percentage of 14% and the students' creative thinking skill is low with a percentage of 48%. An effort that can be done in order to overcome this problem is by developing the teaching materials in the form of Buku IPA Berjendela. The objective of this research is to know the advisability and teacher’s also students’ responses through Buku IPA Berjendela. The type of this research is Research and Development (R & D) and it was developed by using 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The result of the study is the advisability of Buku IPA Berjendela on the material content validation is 90.59% (very decent); format validation 94% (very decent); and display validation 94.17% (very decent). Teacher’s response is 100% (very good) and students’ response are 99.56% (very good). Buku IPA Berjendela is suitable to be used to train students' creative thinking skill by using many features in the book.
