Abstract

Space Management is a field that is increasingly needed in educational institutions. The environment is a global issue that must be adopted into the realm of education. The aim of this research is to describe and analyze the environment-based space management of the Sekolah Alam Nurul Islam (SANI) Jember which focuses on the process, substance and response to students' learning interests. The focus of this study is analyzed using the theories of Tomkins, Brauer, Taylor & Enggass, Renninger & Hidi, and a number of other relevant theories. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method where data is extracted through observation, interviews, documentation and photography. The data was analyzed using the theories of Milles, Huberman and Saldana with three steps, namely data condensation, data presentation, and verification. In this research, it was found that the SANI environment-based space management process is a development of Tomkins' theory, namely aspects of user identification and needs. The substance of environmentally based space management is the development of Taylor & Enggass's theory, namely the integration aspect of context, content and learning processes. Meanwhile, the response to interest in learning is a development of Renninger & Hidi's theory, namely the environment as a trigger for students' interest in learning

This research uses a qualitative case study type approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out circularly, starting with data collection, presentation, reduction, and conclusion. The results of this research show that integration of quality function deployment (QFD) and service excellence in order to improve the quality of education at STT Migas Balikpapan is carried out through the identification of customer needs, the transformation of needs into action plans, alignment with superior service, continuous measurement, and evaluation. The results of this research can provide practical guidance for higher education institutions in improving the quality of their education in a way that is more focused, responsive, and oriented to the needs of students and industry.
