Abstract

Methodology used in this research was qualitative method with case study approach. The method was chosen in order to study in more detail all steps applied in determination Key Performance Indicators by each responsible manager unit within the Private University “STIESIA” based on BSC for boosting the manager to do continuous improvement innovation. Steps used by responsible manager units of Private University “STIESIA” in determination key performance indicators based on BSC consisted of (1) Strategy Good Perspective;(2) Strategy Map;(3) Strategy Management Goals;(4) Strategic Management Scorecards, and (5) Strategic Academic Scorecards.With the establishment of Management Scorecard and Strategic Academic Scorecards, it was an importance step performed by all responsible manager units in Private University “STIESIA” for issuing focused strategy of continuous improvement innovation both in academic and non-academic affairs as to achieve the goal of the Private University “STIESIA” as the best institution. Further steps needed by the top managements of the Private University “STIESIA” - that is the Board of Foundation and the Dean of the Private University “STIESIA”, are to establish guideline for determining yearly work plan and measuring work performances.The guidelines were established based not only on financial perspective,but also on non-financial perspectives that were consisted of customer satisfaction,internal business process and learning and growth factors.In addition,in order to be able to achieve an objective performance measurement for each responsible manager unit,therefore it is necessary to apply a weighted proporsion for each above perspective.

Abstract

Current number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia is only 0, 18% or about 400.000 people. The number of entrepreneur in USA was 11, 5 % last year and the number of entrepreneur Singapore that had 4,24 million of population in 2005 was 7,2 %. The objectives of this research are to examine the effects entrepreneurship on business competence and performance of Padang Restaurants in special province of Yogyakarta. This study is expected to increase the number of entrepreneurship and is the solution of the unemployment problem in Indonesia is specially in Yogyakarta.  61 respondents from 72 Padang Restaurants. The data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. Result of this study proved  Ranidar finding (2004) which mentioned that the existence of  Padang Restaurants is supported by the power of the norms which is from social and culture of Minang based on Islamic teaching (custom is based on Islam, Islam is based on Holy Quran).  This finding also supports the theory of Minang culture.  This theory is the concept of life which was prepared Minang’s anchestor for their generation  who has purpose to reach a happy and prosperous life in this world and here after. (Idrus, 1998).  The business competence has a big role in creating the business perfomance. (Hill and Jones, 1998, Muljadi, 1999). (Kotler 1997).  Enterpreneurship depends on the ability of individual to run the business.  Meredith et. al., (2000) stated that a person is called enterpreneur if he has an ability to see and find the opportunity and he believes in his own ability to plan, take a risk, inovate, and do some actions to get the goal. The finding of this study is important empirical evidence on the development of the theory and the practice of the enterpreneurship in Indonesia

Abstract

This study used Vector Auto regression (VAR) model to analyze effectiveness of monetary policy transmission mechanism in Indonesia through Inflation Expectation Channel period 1990:2-2007:1. That effectiveness was measured by two indicators, they are: (1) : (1) how fast or how many time lag needed since the shock of monetary instruments (rSBI) until the realisation of final target of monetary policy (inflation). (2) How strong the variables of inflation expectation line response the shock of SBI interest rate and other variable. This study used secondary data issued by Bank Indonesia and BPS as well as from International Finance Statistic (IFS). The result of the study shows that response velocity of variable in Inflation Expectation Channel towards shock instrument of monetary policy (rSBI) until reach the final target or time tag about 12 quarterly or twenty six months. While impulse response function of variables in this channel to the shock instrument of monetary policy (rSBI) is quiet weak and the main channel that is inflation expectation and exchange rate are not able to explain diversity final target of monetary policy (inflation) about 33,88%, while variable of inflation expectation only able to explain diversity of inflation about 15,03%. Meanwhile, we still able economically to conclude that mechanism of monetary policy transmission through Inflation Expectation Channel is effective to reach the final target of monetary policy of Indonesia period of 1990:2-2007:1

Abstract

Indonesian manpower (IM) is a term used to refer to the Indonesian migrants who work overseas. Although the exact number of the IM is not well recorded by the government of the Republic of Indonesia, the amount of the remittance the IM send home to their family is found to be quite significant. In 2005, the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia declared that the amount of the IM’s remittance reached US$ 2.9 billion, which was much higher than the government’s expected amount (US$ 1.9 billion). This study found out that (1) the IM’s remittance affected the amount of the money spreading in the home district where the IM came from so that it enhanced the purchasing power of the people in the district towards the consumptive goods and services which, in turn, triggered the elevation of the prices of goods and services; (2) the IM’s remittance stimulated the traders or merchants to determine the goods and services pricing which was commonly called the expected inflation; (3) most of the remittance was spent for consumptive goods and services and only a little amount of it was spent for investment; and (4) the IM’s remittance was a factor that positively affected the increase of the human development index (HDI) in the IM’s home district. To effectively increase the effect of the remittance towards the HDI in the IW’s home district, a governmental policy that was oriented towards the development of the IM’s family potentials and attempted to change people’s behavior

Abstract

The research aims to study and analyze the influence of lecturer’s competence and learning process on study program competitive advantage either in simultaneous and partiality at private higher education in North Sumatera. This research was conducted by census methods over 44 S1 Management studies in Private Higher Education Kopertis of Regional I North Sumatera. The data used in this research were primary data collected by questioners. The research respondents were head and students of study programs.  The validity and reliability of the data was tested before hypothesis testing. The data analysis for hypothesis testing was the path analysis. This research concludes that: the role of lecturer’s competence and learning process influential significantly toward study program competitive advantage. Partially from both independent variables, the influence of lecturer’s competence toward study program competitive advantage is greater than learning process.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to test empirically and analyze whether or not there is relationship between participative budgeting and managerial performance, as well as to test empirically and analyze whether  decentralization and organizational commitment as moderating variables influence the relationship between participative budgeting and managerial performance in local government. The samples of this research are taken from local government organization population, that is the partner of local apparatus working unit (Satuan Kerja Perangkat Daerah/SKPD) until two level under SKPD manager. From 420 shared questionnaires, there are founded 147 respondents whos return their answers, and only 98 questionnaires, which fulfill the requirement to be computed and involved in final analysis.Hypotheses testing technique that is used to test the relationship between participative budgeting and managerial performance is simple regression. And to test influential interaction of two contingency factor (decentralization and organizational commitment), Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) is used. The empirical result using simple regression show that participative budgeting influences the managerial performance in local government organization. While empirical result using moderated regression analysis shows that the Interaction between participative budgeting and decentralization structure affects managerial performance significantly. Interaction between participative budgeting and organizational commitment does not affect managerial performance of local government organization significantly.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguji faktor-faktor keperilakuan eksekutif atas perilaku pengelolaan laba berkaitan dengan program penawaran opsi saham eksekutif pada perusahaan-perusahaan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Konsisten dengan Heath dan Huddart (1998) bahwa eksekusi terhadap opsi saham eksekutif merupakan respon terhadap pergerakan harga saham. Penelitian ini mengirim 75 kuesioner dan kembali sebanyak 52, tetapi 2 kuesioner tidak menjawab secara lengkap dan dikeluarkan sebagai sampel, sehingga sampel akhir sebanyak 50. Analisis data menggunakan regresi berganda terdiri atas 3 (tiga) variabel indepeden dan 1 variabel dependen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai opsi saham dan desain kompensasi menjadi faktor yang dipertimbangkan manajer untuk melakukan pengelolaan laba, namun tidak demikian untuk faktor pengukuran kinerja. Semakin besar nilai kompensasi yang diterima, semakin besar kemungkinan manajer melakukan pengelolaan laba. Sebagai tambahan, kompensasi jangka panjang menunjukkan desain penghargaan kepada para eksekutif yang memiliki kemampuan dan loyalitas yang tinggi, sehingga mengikat untuk jangka waktu panjang melalui opsi saham eksekutif. Hal tersebut semakin memotivasi eksekutif untuk meningkatkan kinerja mereka melalui pengelolan laba karena untung diperoleh dari perbedaan antara harga pasar pada saat jatuh tempo dengan harga eksekusi pada tanggal hibah.
