Jurnal Pariwisata Terapan (JPT) is a biannual, peer-reviewed, open access academic journal dedicated to studies in applied tourism science in Indonesia. JPT invites authors in the field of applied tourism to submit manuscripts written in English or Bahasa Indonesia. The objective of JPT is delivering comprehensive knowledge on applied tourism science in Indonesia. JPT invites manuscript in three main topics, but not limited to an application of tourism science in hospitality industry, tourism businesses, and destination development in Indonesia. We encourage different perspectives on tourism science application to broader views in the field of tourism and contribute to tourism science development in Indonesia.

Abstract

Tourism derived from many criteria ranging from activities, attractions, location, travel style and the tourism product category preferred. The present paper aimed to examine the two travel trends The Joy of Missing Out (JOMO) and Iconic landmarks and sites by reviewing relevant literature review from both travel trends, and critically analyse which of one of the two trends is likely to dominate. A comparison of the two trends reveals that JOMO is a type of journey that emphasises with the isolation against technology, with motivation for relaxation, escape from everyday routine and commitments. Meanwhile, iconic landmarks and sites travel trends have the characteristics in novelty seeking to visit exciting places, viewing the scenery and related to tourist self-development. These studies provide valuable insights into the JOMO concept related to the motivation of relax and iconic landmarks and sites tourist attraction described as a ‘flagship, which is highly noticeable as the strongest pull-factors of a destination and regarded a primary growth destination resource. The scope of this study was limited in terms of travel trends from the literature review. Further studies need to be carried out in order to validate the experiences of the traveller within these two travel trends by comparing their expectations, perceptions, and motives.

Abstract

Nowadays backpacking travel is the most popular travelling style which famous to the youth traveller. According to the history, the travelling style can be tracked from the nomadic tribes in all corner of the world for their moving habit for run their life. Through the ages, the nomad who carries backpack at their back to bring necessities adopted by soldiers, explorers, and many kinds of travellers, until transformed to the modern free independent tourist (FIT) ; backpacker, flash packer to the present techno packer. The backpackers itself always become an interesting object for the scholars and the tourism experts. Their travelling style colorized every great journey that men ever made.  This paper aim is to seek and identify the existence of backpackers and their travelling style throughout historical paradigm. The methods using in this research is both literatures studies and field observatory to the iconic backpacking travels sites in the history. The results show that the backpackers and backpacking travel consists of unique characteristics who determine their travelling style that different among the common tourist or even the group inclusive tour (GIT). The backpackers travels much longer, more far, they travel some time to the off beaten tracks, they always made interaction with the local community, and their journeys inspired others. No wonder if in the future backpacking travel will contributes so many influences to the tourism world.

Abstract

Peningkatan jumlah wisatawan muslim meningkatkan kebutuhan akan Wisata Halal. Seiring dengan fenomena tersebut teknologi pendukung kegiatan wisata semakin canggih dan mengubah pola perilaku calon wisatawan dalam berwisata. Instagram sebagai salah media sosial terpopuler di Indonesia memiliki fitur hashtag untuk mengumpulkan informasi hasil pos dari penggunanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui informasi terkait wisata halal seperti apa yang dapat ditelusur melalui hashtag #wisatahalal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan konten analisis. Pos hasil pencarian dengan hashtag #wisatahalal menjadi objek analisis pada penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penelusuran pada Instagram dengan hashtag #wisatahalal dapat ditemukan informasi mengenai paket wisata dan akomodasi halal, tips wisata halal, aktivitas pada wisata halal, objek wisata halal, dan makanan pada wisata halal. Selain hal tersebut ditemukan bahwa pemanfaatan hashtag #wisatahalal dalam melakukan promosi objek wisata, hal ini disebabkan calon wisatawan menggunakan Instagram sebagai sumber informasi dan inspirasi mereka dalam melakukan perjalanan wisata.

Abstract

The tourism sector is a national priority in the 2015-2019 RPJM of the Jokowi-JK government. Various parties can play an active role in opening new tourist destinations, both at local, regional, and even international levels. Many myths and legends in the community that can be used as a basis for determining the development of new tourist sites. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Recommendation material for regional selection / selection to be developed as folklore-based tourist destinations can be applied in the form of categories. The category in question is adapted from Irina-Maria Necheş (2013) as follows; the presence or absence of tangible and intangible values to be appointed, the classification of the principal values to be raised, whether mythological, religious, or historical. In other words, the effort to form an image as a regional tourism selling power in question is developed based on cultural ideas (which can be abstract) and then concretized so that visitors can enjoy them sensually.

Abstract

Korean Pop phenomenon, Hallyu, affect to the development of various tourism objects in Seoul and South Korea in general. Hallyu as a new wave is popular among young generations, not only as an entertainment, but also as tourist attraction in South Korea. This phenomenon increased number of travelers to South Korea year by year.  This descriptive research analyze qualitatively several tourism objects well known as shooting site of several popular Korean dramas where travelers may experience several things related to Korean dramas. There are not only K-Pop experiences that make Korean tourism popularity increasing rapidly, but also the government rules have also been paving the important way to promote and develop Korean tourism destinations

Abstract

Gunung Ireng di Desa Pengkok adalah destinasi wisata baru geologi gunung api purba di Kecamatan Patuk, Kabupaten Gunungkidul, di samping Gunung Nglanggeran. Selain aglomerat, sebagaimana penciri geologi Gunung Api Purba Nglanggeran, breksi vulkanik, lava bersruktur meniang, dike, dan blocky lava berkomposisi andesit menyusun Gunung Ireng. Makalah ini disusun untuk mengidentifikasi kealamian jelajah alam geologi gunung api purba Gunung Ireng sebagai destinasi wisata minat khusus geowisata. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi dan analisis konektivitas Gunung Ireng terhadap destinasi-destinasi wisata lain di sekitarnya dan identifikasi keragaman data geologinya. Penelitian menjumpai morfologi bukit melingkar berbentuk kubah, yang dikelilingi lembah berslope ~30-55o yang melandai ke baratlaut. Dari atas bukit terlihat Gunung Wayang (Nglanggeran di ujung timur), karst Selopamioro di arah selatan, Sudimoro di arah barat dan tinggian Patuk di sebelah utara. Jalur konektivitas telah menghubungkan Gunung Ireng dengan Gunung api Nglanggeran-Oro-Oro, Dlingo, Selopamioro dan Kali Ngalang-Gedangsari. Promosi dan dukungan sepenuhnya dari pemerintah Kabupaten Gunungkidul, serta optimisme pengelola adalah kunci keberhasilan Gunung Ireng untuk disejajarkan dengan destinasi-destinasi wisata minat khusus lain di sekitarnya; mendukung keberlanjutan Geopark Gunung Sewu.

Abstract

Kawasan dan bangunan bersejarah merupakan salah satu tujuan wisata yang didatangi masyarakat. Masyarakat memiliki beberapa alasan dalam mendatangi kawasan dan bangunan bersejarah. Terdapat dua faktor, push dan pull, dalam mengunjungi kawasan dan bangunan bersejarah. Faktor push adalah faktor pendorong yang merupakan motivasi dari diri seseorang. Sedangkan faktor pull merupakan faktor lingkungan yang menjadi penarik seseorang dalam berwisata. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menemukan faktor push dan pull dalam mengunjungi kawasan dan bangunan bersejarah, serta melihat korelasi dari kedua faktor tersebut. Dari hasil analisis ditemukan ada tiga dimensi push yaitu edukasi, fisiologis, dan interpersonal; serta empat dimensi pull yaitu aksesibilitas dan keterjangkauan, kualitas lingkungan dan pengalaman, sosial, dan daya tarik objek. Dimensi edukasi memiliki korelasi tinggi dengan daya tarik objek. Dimensi interpersonal memiliki korelasi tinggi dengan dimensi sosial, dan dimensi fisiologis memiliki korelasi tinggi dengan kualitas lingkungan dan pengalaman.

Abstract

Tourism is a rapidly growing sector in Indonesia in recent years. Tourism development is now also moving to villages by raising local wisdom in each place. Brajan is one of the Tourism Villages in Sleman Regency which is included in the growing category. This village is interesting to share because it has great potential and offers a more varied compared to supported villages. One indicator in determining village classification is in terms of capacity of its managers. For this reason, a study was conducted to see the capacity of managers in Brajan to take part in the strategies taken to improve it.The study was conducted qualitatively with data collection methods in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants in the interview were managers of tourist villages, youth, and the community. The aim is to mapping institutional capacity. Organizational capacity will be seen from managerial aspects, resource management, and participation.The results of this study indicate that managerial does not have the ability to manage programs and processes, but in terms of relationship management and collaboration is good. In terms of managing resources, both human resources and infrastructure, financial and technological resources are still lacking. Participation is still lacking because many managers are already inactive.

Abstract

The development of local identity reflecting the local wisdom in the tourism development aims at maximizing the local values in developing the area.  This research-based paper describes the local wisdom and the development of local identity to promote cultural tourisme in Banyumas.  By using a qualitative method and a case study as its approach, the research reveals that the tourism development in the Banyumas regency has not focused on the development of its local identity yet.  Cablaka as the local identity of the Banyumas society has not become the way of life.  In this case, it has not absorbed into every sector of the Banyumas people’ lives, including the tourism sector.  The local wisdom in the tourism development is important for a society–including the Banyumas society–to get a better regional income.  It means the tourism develoment through implementating the local wisdom is able to improve the life condition of a society better than before.  So, the tourism development–especially promoting the cultural tourism–in the Banyumas regency does need to develop the local identity through its local values.

Abstract

Ecotourism development by local communities around the forest has obstacles related the differences between farming and tourism working style. The problem's related the ability of the community to adapt. This study is aimed to describe the types of obstacles, strategies and the form of adaptation of the Kalibiru community in developing ecotourism in the protected forest. Data collection uses in-depth interviews (indept interview), focused interviews, direct observation, and document review. The results showed the ability of the Kalibiru community to adapt of ecotourism. Various obstacles experienced at each stage of tourism development can be overcome through persuasive strategies. The adaptation can be seen in the changes individual behavior, the structure and rules of the HKm institution, and settings of labor and working time at the household level. Keywords.
