Abstract

Gangrenous wounds is one of the chronic complications of diabetes that most feared by every diabetic patient (Tjokroprawiro, 2007). Gangrenous wounds is a condition that begins from the tissue hypoxia where oxygen is reduced, it will affect the activity of vascular and cellular networks, which results in tissue damage (Guyton, 2006). TOHB (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) or Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy or HBO therapy (Hyperbaric Oxygen) is a way to increase tissue oxygen levels, by reducing the swelling caused by vasoconstriction of blood vessels. At the same time, TOHB also increases oxygen levels in the blood (Neubauer, 1998). Oxygen is expected to penetrate through to the peripheral tissues are deprived of oxygen, so that the supply of nutrients and oxygen are met, so that the network can do metabolism and function (Smeltzer, 2002). Review was conducted at 10 research/article. Search strategy articles by using two ways: manual and online libraries. This search is getting 113 articles, but the total articles reviewed were the 10 articles. 1 studies are case reports and 9 research is experimental research with 5 studies using random techniques. TOHB with adequate doses can have a positive effect on wound healing and reduce the risk of amputation. TOHB beneficial to improve peripheral perfusion and decrease the incidence of major amputation. However, there has been no research on the psychology of the patient.

Abstract

The decision making which is not done promptly and correctly can result in death because the incidence rate of DHF increases 5% each year. The purpose of this study was to study the correlation between the parents’ behavior in making decision and the severity level of DHF in children at RS BRS. The method was analytical done by using a retrospective approach. The population involved all parents whose children suffering from DHF at RS BRS, totally 30 respondents in which 28 respondents were taken as the samples by using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable was the the parents’ behavior in making decision, whereas the dependent variable was the severity level of DHF. The data were taken by using questionnaires and analyzed by uisng Mann-Whitney test in which a = 0.05. The results showed that among 13 respondents who have made decisions promptly, almost entirely (84.6%) had DHF at level 1. While 15 respondents who took the decision late, nearly all (40%) had DHF at level 2. After Mann-Whitney test, the research obtained r = 0.005 and = 0.05, meaning that r <a, so that H0 was rejected, showing that there was a correlation between the parents’ behavior and decision-making with the severity level of DHF at RSBRS. It concluded that the late decision-making resulting in the increase of severity level of DHF. Therefore, the parents are expected to make decisions quickly when the children has a fever to medically detect the disease immediately and the children immediately receive the appropriate actions

Abstract

There are many factors which affect the academic achievement: internal and external factors. The internal factors include the physical and psychological factors (interest, intelligence, motivation, attention, readiness, and maturity). In academic year of 2011/2012, STIKes Yarsis has added one test, the psychological test, to determine the candidates to pass the student’s admission test. So far, the data haven’t been managed as the important information for the educational management. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find out the bivariate and multivariate correlation between intelligence and motivation toward the student’s academic achievement. The design of study was analytic-cross sectional. The population involved the students of Program of Study of S-1 in the academic year 2011/2012. 106 respondents were chosen as the samples by using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable was the level of intelligence and motivation, whereas the dependent variable was the academic achievement. The data collection was done by using secondary data, which were then analyzed by using simple and multiple linear regression tests. The result of study in bivariate correlation analysis showed that there was a correlation between intelligence and motivation toward the student’s academic achievement. The independent variable playing a role in predicting the GPA (grade-point average) was motivation (p = 0.028). The value of R-Squared was 0.045 which meant that 4.5% of the academic achievement was affected by motivation, whereas the rest of them were affected by other factors. Moreover, the result of analysis described that GPA = 3.097 + 0.060 * motivation. In conclusion, in bivariate correlation analysis, intelligence and learning motivation had a correlation with academic achievement. In multivariate correlation analysis, intelligence didn’t have any correlation with academic achievement, whereas motivation had correlation with academic achievement. Furthermore, academic achievement had a relationship with motivation (4.5%), and the rest of them had a correlation with other factors, such as campus environment, learning media, curriculum, lecturers, social support, etc

Abstract

Abstract: As the population of the elderly increases, health problems such as Gout indicated by Hyperuricemia might also appear. Hyperuricemia can be prevented by increasing the intake of Vitamin C, B5, B6, and E. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to find out the effects of watermelon juice on the change in uric acid level in the elderly living in Dupak Bangunsari RT V RW 4 Surabaya. The research used quasi- experiment design. The populations involved 16 old people with Hyperuricemia, in which half of them, 8 people, were taken as the samples done by applying the random allocation technique classified as follows: 8 people in experiment group and 8 people in control group. The watermelon juice therapy was chosen as the independent variable, where as the dependent variable was the change of uric acid level. Furthermore, the uric acid level measuring tool was used to collect the data which were then recorded on the recapitulation and watermelon juice sheet. The result of analysis done by applying Fischer’s Exact test and SPSS for Windows showed that ρ = 0.001 < α = 0.05 which meant that the research hypothesis was accepted illustrating that there were some effects of watermelon juice on the change in uric acid level in the elderly living in the above mentioned region. The research has come to a conclusion that there were some effects of watermelon juice on the change in uric acid level. Hence, the old people with Hyperuricemia should consume more Vitamin C, B5, B6, and E and change their life pattern into the healthy one.
