Abstract

Behind the increase number of elderly people, new problems have arisen related to the increase in the dependency ratio of the productive age population to the non-productive age population. This study aims to determine the relationships and factors associated with the independence of the elderly in the Balauring Community Health Center Work Area during the period of September–October 2018. The research method is a quantitative study equipped with qualitative data with a cross-sectional design. The sample size was 157 people. The sampling technique was cluster sampling. Data analysis techniques included univariate analysis, the chi square test, and logistic regression of simple and triangulation data. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between age, source of income for the elderly, health status, the role of midwives, the role of elderly cadres, the role of elderly families, physical activity, and activeness of the elderly with the independence of the elderly in doing activities of daily living (ADL) with a p value <0.05. In the multivariate logistic regression analysis, the physical activity variable was obtained with an Exp value (B) of 2,613, which means that the elderly who are not physically active have a 2,613 times higher risk of becoming dependent in doing ADL.

Abstract

Pneumonia is one of the most common causes of child mortality in Indonesia. The prevalence of pneumonia in children under five in the last five years has increased by 1,6% in 2013 to 2% in 2018. West Java Province is the fourth highest prevalence of pneumonia on children under five in Indonesia. The aim of the study was to analyze the factors associated with the incidence of pneumonia in children under five in West Java Province. The study was conducted with a cross sectional design using secondary data on the Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey 2017. Dependent variable of this study was pneumonia among children aged 12-59 months. Meanwhile, independent variables are house environment factors, children characteristic factors, and economic factors. The data analysis used in this study is Chi-Square test. The results indicated that there was a significant correlation between low wealth index (OR = 4,23; 95% CI: 1,72-10,41), type of residence (OR = 3,70; 95% CI: 1,71-8,02), and type of wall (OR = 4,84; 95% CI: 1,55-15,14) with pneumonia on children under five years old.

Abstract

Asthma is a chronic disorder of the airways that is characterized periods of airflow obstruction. Asthma medication use in pediatrics is often encountered various problems. This study aims to determine the potential for drug interactions in pediatric asthma patients hospitalized in the Hospital X Jakarta period January 2015 to April 2017. This type of research is retrospective descriptive and analysis using the chi-square test. Retrieval of data through medical records with total sampling method. Based on the results of the study concluded that there are potential drug interactions of 31 patients (28.18%) and there are 48 cases of interaction. The most type of interaction mechanism is pharmacodynamic interaction in 33 cases (68.75%). The highest severity of interactions was moderate interactions in 40 cases (83.33%), and the highest onset of interactions was delayed onset of 32 cases (66.67%). The results of the chi-square analysis are shown from the probability value of 0.0000 (p-value <0.005), it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the amount of drug administration in a prescription with a significant drug interaction, and the results of the ods ratio indicate that the patient receiving the number of prescriptions in the drug ≥ 5 amounted to 0.244 times higher than the drug interactions that occur.
