Abstract

Ibn Athaillah As-Sakandariy is a writter of Al-Hikam. He was Egyptian mystical author and hagiographer. He was a follower of Shafi’i and/or Maliki religious scholar, and also prominent member of the Shadililiya thariqah. The most influential of the 20 d works credited to him is the Book of Aphoristic Wisdom (Kitāb Al-Hikam). This book of aphorism had been translated into Javanese language by MishbāchZainil-Mushthafa Al-BangilaniyAth-Thubaniy. In this Javanese translation book, there are two side of translation, literal and free translation. This article will investigate the textual equivalence between Arabic (L1) and Javanese (L2) in the aphorism book of Al-Hikam. This research had been used the qualitative method. The data will be analyzed by the descriptive method (describing the structure of language). The methods in this research was divided into three basic parts: (1) collecting the data, (2) analysis the data, and (3) reporting the data. Collecting the data had been used the observation method to gain the informations about Theme and Rheme in Arabic-Javanese translation. First problem is about the thematic structure between Arabic and Javanese translation (theme and rheme), or Information structure between L1 and L2 (given and new). The second problem, this article will elaborate the strategies for minimizing linear dislocation in the Aphorsim book of Al-Hikam. There are four strategies for resolving the tension between syntactic and communicative functions in Arabic-Javanese translation, such as: (1) voice change, (2) change of verb, (3) nominalization, and (4) extraposition. Keywords: Textual Equivalence, Arabic-Javanese Translation, Aphorsim, Al-Hikam.

Abstract

الملخص: يهدف هذا البحث إلى إنتاج كتاب البلاغة الدراسي باستخدام الخريطة الذهنية لقسم الأدب العربي Universitas Negeri Malang بأندونيسيا، ثم وصف هذه المواد وصلاحيتها. ونتائج هذا البحث هي كتاب المواد الدرسية في البلاغة بموضوع "خلاصة علم البديع". يحتوى هذا الكتاب على وحدتين. الوحدة الأولى المحسنات اللفظية. والوحدة الثانية المحسنات المعنوية. والوحدة الأولى أي المحسنات اللفظية تتكون من ثلاثة دروس، وهي: (١) الجناس و(٢) الاقتباس و(٣) السجع. وأما الوحدة الثانية أي المحسنات المعنوية تتكون من أربعة دروس، وهي: (١) التورية و(٢) الطباق و(٣) المقابلة و(٤) المبالغة. (٢) هذه المواد صالحة لاستخدامها في تدريس البلاغة في القسم. وهذا يعرف من نتيجة صلاحية المواد الدراسية المطورة من خبير الوسائل التعليمية وخبير المادة وتطبيقها في التعليم (87%).الكلمات الرئيسية: تطوير، مواد دراسية، خريطة ذهنية، بلاغة.

Abstract

This causal comparative study aims at finding out the language learning strategies (LLS) in Arabic as a foreign language used by students across gender and majors at State Islamic Senior High School 1 Banjar, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. There were 127 (one hundred and twenty seven) students who were asked to participate in this study.  The instruments were adapted from The Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) proposed by Oxford (1990). In analysing data, arithmetic mean, deviation standard and independent sample test were used. The results of the study revealed that 1) the most popularly strategy used by students at State Islamic Senior High School 1 Banjar was metacognitive, 2) there is a significant difference in using Arabic language learning strategies between female and male students with p=0.017 ≤ 0.05, 3) there is a significant difference in using Arabic language learning strategies between and between social science major and natural science major students with p=0.02 ≤0.05. This indicated that the differences across gender and majors in using language learning strategies (LLS) in Arabic as a foreign language are found.Keywords: Language learning Strategies, Arabic as foreign language, and gender and majors difference.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims at describing: (1) design of using direct method in paired storytelling method to improve the student grade two’s speaking skill at upper secondary islamic school, (2) procedure of using direct method in paired storytelling method to improve the student grade two’s speaking skill at upper secondary islamic school. This research used Classroom Action Research. The result of this research showed that (1) this Classroom Action Research was designed in four step, that is determine which method in accordance with the condition of the student, prepare medium of learning, made strides of learning, planned of learning speaking skill, and prepare the criteria of assesment. (2) this Classroom Action Research was conducted in three cycles. Student’s scores increased to “very good” predicate with average score as big as “82” even 7 students acquired “excellent” predicate by the end of the meeting. Keywords: Paired Storytelling Method, Direct Method, Speaking skill.

Abstract

الملخص: يهدف هذا البحث إلى وصف الاتساق في المقالات العلمية من مجلة جامعة أم القرى لعلوم اللغة وآدابها، والانسجام بين الجمل فيها، والانسجام بين مكون المقالات، واستفادة مظاهرهما في تعليم الكتابة في قسم الأدب العربي بجامعة مالانج الحكومية. هذا البحث بحث وصفي كيفي بمنهج تحليل الخطاب. والبيانات جمل وفقرات في ثلاث المقالات العلمية من مجلة جامعة أم القرى لعلوم اللغة وآدابها. والنتائج هي (١)الاتساق الموجود فيها هو الإحالة والاستبدال والحذف والعطف والتكرار والمرادف والمضاد والاشتمال والجزء بالكل والتضام، (٢)الانسجام فيها محقق باستعمال شرطين وهما الجوانب اللغوية وتفاصيل محتوى الفقرة، (3) العلاقة بين المكونات فيها منسجمة وهذه تتّسم بتتابع بين المكونات واتفاقها بمواضيع البحوث، (5)الأخطاء التي تسبب عددا من الفقرات غير منسجمة هي الأخطاء في استعمال الضمائر وأسماء الإشارة، وعدم الدقة في استعمال الأفعال، واستخدام الأفعال المغايرة، وعدم الملاءمة في استخدام النقطة، (5)لهذا البحث استفادة في تعليم الكتابة.الكلمات الرئيسية: الاتساق، الانسجام، المقالة العلمية، تعليم كتابة المقالة

Abstract

In translation, the utterances delivered in the form of implicit meaning in Arabic are not necessarily retained in that form in English. This results in a reversal, with the form of  implicit meaning being translated into  explicit meaning. This study aims to identify the forms of implicit meaning in the book ‘Rihlah Ibn Battutah’ and to explore the influence of culture on this translation and the strategies used by the translator to deal with the difficulties of translating  implicit meaning. This study is a qualitative study using case study and textual analysis methods based on the approach proposed by Klaudy and Károly (2005), and Pym (2005). The data analysis was carried out using ATLAS.ti software. The results of this study  show that explicitation in translation is not only driven by cultural factors in general but  it is also significantly influenced by religious, Arabic Rhetorical Sciences (Balāghah), lexicogrammatical and pragmatic factors, communicative preferences and the politeness of the target language itself. This study will hopefully spark interest in and a deeper focus on the explicitation strategy in the field of translation.Keywords: Translation, Implicit Meaning, Explicitation, Textual Analysis
