Abstract

Caregiver burden is commonly used in nursing literature, however, a study exploring the caregiver burden of an advanced lung cancer patient has not yet been clearly defined. Therefore, this study Aims to develop an operational definition and analyze the attributes, antecedents and consequents of the theoretical concept of caregiver burden of advanced lung cancer. An electronic search from four different sources, such as online databases (PubMed, CINAHL (Cummulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health) Plus with Full Text, Chochrane Library, Google Scholar), journal articles, dictionaries and official health websites (both government and non-government). The paper adopted the framework by Walker and Advant. The attributes, antecedents and consequents of the concept were identified. The three attributes of caregiver burden were identified as Low Self- Efficacy, Multifaced Strain, and Overload. The antecedents included Caregiver’s characteristics, Health status, Insufficient financial resources, and social support. The consequences of the caregiver’s burden resulted in negative change, including decreased quality of Life, Health function, and psychological problems. A clear definition of caregiver burden was developed. The finding of this concept analysis can be used in Nursing practice, education and administration

Abstract

Filial therapy is a psychoeducational intervention designed to improve parent-child relationships, reduce problematic behavior in children, and reduce parental stress by including parents as therapeutic agents. Parent access-group sessions are facilitated by therapists who teach adult skills based on play therapy techniques, which parents then implement with their children under the supervision of a facilitator. The objective of this research is to determine differences in family stress between those who do Filial Therapy and those who do not receive Filial Therapy. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental approach with a non-equivalent pre-post-test approach with a control group. Identification of respondents according to the criteria, namely families with ABK and school-age children with special needs (7-12 years) at SLB Semarang. The instrument used was a questionnaire of Perceived Stress Scale. Before treatment, the average stress level in the control group was higher than that in the intervention group, 17.25 (Standard Deviation ± 5.01). The average stress level in the control and intervention groups before Filial therapy was carried out was relatively the same at 17.25 and 16.87. In contrast, after Filial therapy was performed in both groups, the stress level decreased by 15.62 and 10.00. The analysis using the independent t-test showed differences in the reduction in stress levels in the control and intervention groups before and after Filial therapy (p-value = 0.000). Conclusion: it can be concluded that filial therapy can significantly reduce the stress level of families with children's disabilities.

Abstract

Inadequate pain management has been a worldwide concern for hospitalized children. Little is known about pain management for pediatric patients in Indonesia. This study explored nurses' experiences providing pain management in the pediatric unit.  A qualitative descriptive approach was used. Fifteen nurses who worked in the pediatric intensive care unit and the pediatric, maternal-child, and general wards of the Islamic Teaching Hospital in Indonesia were interviewed by telephone due to the COVID-19 pandemic period. Based on content analysis, five themes were extracted from the data: ways to assess pain vary, working with colleagues, attitudes toward pain-relief strategies, enhancing parental understanding and involvement, and desire to have age-specific pain management training for pediatric patients. The results revealed issues nurses face in real contexts. Pediatric nurses need pain management training to improve their knowledge and skills.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the infectious diseases and is a major cause of poor health, thus becoming one of the leading causes of death in the world. In 2021 the World Health Organization (WHO) said that, 9.9 million people experienced TB disease worldwide. It is also estimated that every year there are 13,110 cases of people who die from TB disease. The number of TB cases in Indonesia is estimated at 845,000 cases in 2020 with 393,323 TB cases notified. According to data from the Tasikmalaya City Health Office in 2020, there were 1.045 cases of TB sufferers in Tasikmalaya City. TB disease can be cured by taking treatment for 6 months. Adherence to treatment is one way to prevent failure in TB treatment. The daily medicine box is one solution to improve patient compliance with anti-TB treatment. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of daily medication use on adherence to anti-TB medication in TB patients at the Tamansari Public Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. This study uses a quantitative approach with the research method of Pre-Experimental Design, one group with pre-test & post-test. The sample was 16 respondents in this study, Wilcoxon Signed Rank test used in this research. Results: The results showed that the pretest-posttest had an effect of the daily medicine box on adherence to taking anti-TB drugs in TB patients with p-value 0.000 <0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between before and after being given treatment. this study recommended that TB patients apply the daily medicine box as a tool to improve adherence to taking drugs so as to reduce failure in TB treatment.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) are one of the main causes of infectious disease morbidity and mortality worldwide. Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is a health problem that often occurs in children, and the group most at risk is children under five years. This study aimed to determine the relationship between nutritional status and exclusive breastfeeding on the incidence of ARI in the working area of the Loa Bakung Public Health Center, Samarinda. This type of research is quantitative research using a cross-sectional approach. The samples in this study were parents of children under five who visited the Posyandu in the working area of the Loa Bakung Public Health Center, Samarinda. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a total sample of 181 respondents. The analytical test used in this research is chi-square. The chi-square test results on the history of LBW obtained a p-value = 0.373 and exclusive breastfeeding with a p-value = 0.440. This shows no relationship between a history of LBW and exclusive breastfeeding on the incidence of ARI at the Loa Bakung Public Health Center, Samarinda. The incidence of ARI in children under five years at the Loa Bakung Public Health Center, Samarinda, is not influenced by a history of LBW and exclusive breastfeeding. Still, other factors could have influenced the incident that was not carried out in this study. The role of parents is very important in maintaining the health of their children under five years to prevent the occurrence of ARI in their children under five years.
