Abstract

Crackers are one form of small food that most Indonesians have long known. As well as variants in side dishes, crackers can be eaten as exciting foods. Kamplang crackers are produced from sago flour and fish as a local food product. This study aimed to examine tuna crackers' chemical content and the total plate count (TPC). This study was conducted at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Laboratory, Universitas Pasifik Morotai. This research began with the development of bean media tauge extract agar (TEA) extract, measuring the quality of water, protein content, and ALT cracker kamplang tuna fish. The findings showed 4 percent of the water content of crackers and 58.37 percent of protein. The number of colonies of bacteria <25, so it is not used in calculations. This number of microbes complies with SNI 01-2332.3:2006 in tuna crackers.

Abstract

Changes in the temperature of the nesting habitat due to the impact of global warming cause damage to turtle eggs and will result in failure of hatching in turtle nests. The temperature of the turtle nesting beach on Sidey beach as a secondary nesting beach has a contribution to the existence of turtle populations in the wild. The analysis of the temperature profile of the Sidey turtle nesting beach aims to relate the temperature of the turtle nesting beach sand to hatching success, and to estimate the sex of hatchlings based on the temperature during the incubation period and the temperature of the beach sand. Temperature recording using a data logger, then analyzed using HOBOware software. The results of the analysis of the mean temperature for Sidey 1 beach of 31.75±1.70⁰C, Sidey 2 beach of 32.29±0.23⁰C, incubation temperature of nest 1 was 28.14±0.75⁰C and at nest 2 of 30.13±0.82⁰C. The mean temperature range of the Sidey beach was above the pivotal temperature for leatherback turtles for the East Pacific region, which is 29.4⁰C, while the two nest samples have a temperature mean above or below the pivotal temperature, so that the estimation of hatchling sex for Sidey beaches are female and have low hatching success.

Abstract

The release of organic waste into the waters due to the Eel (Anguilla sp.) rearing activity will cause eutrophication. Efforts to reduce organic waste can be done by using local mussel (Pilsbryoconcha exilis) because it has biofiltration capabilities. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of local mussels in reducing organic waste. The research design used in this study was a randomized block design (RBD), with treatment in the form of differences in waste concentration (50% and 100%), while the group was in the form of differences in the size of the gravestone (small, medium, and large). The results showed that mussel was able to reduce organic matter, the effective time of local mussel (P. exilis) to reduce organic waste from the cultivation of eel (Anguilla sp.) Was in the first 6 days. The most effective treatment is the use of 100% waste concentration and small mussel. This treatment was able to reduce COD values by 66.1 mg/L (28%), turbidity by 187.2 NTU (16%), TSS by 134 mg/L (36%), and ammonia by 0.004 mg/L (24%), and increased biomass by 7.21 grams (3%).
