Abstract

This article seeks to elaborate on the meaning of jihad in the Koran and its actualization in education. This research uses the content analysis method. Through a critical study of jihad’s meaning in the Koran, this study concludes that Islamic teachings love peace among human beings and do not want hostility and violence, let alone a war. In Islam, peace is not only for Muslims themselves but for humans even though when Muslims are attacked, every Muslim is obliged to defend himself in order to realize jihad fi sabi li llah. Therefore, jihad also means keeping peace not disturbed by intruders. The actualization of jihad in education refers to three educational foundations, ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundations

Abstract

This page seeks to further explain Seyyed Hossein Nasr's idea of thought, one of the Muslim intellectuals who had a significant impact on Persian thought. This study employs a method called literature analysis, in which the author not only reads the pertinent literature but also critically and in-depth assesses the pertinent prior research literature. The results showed that Sayyed Hossein Nasr gave the view that existential or spiritual crises experienced by humans stem from modern human rebellion against God. That is when humans leave God in order to confirm their existence.

Abstract

This article seeks to explore Mehdi Golshani's thoughts on the position of science in religion. By using the literature study method, this study finds that Mehdi Golshani's idea of Islamic science is a form of epistemological effort to intervene in responding to the debate around the relationship between science and religion. According to him, science is not merely a collection of theories, concepts, and natural laws, but is also part of the metaphysical reality in which divine values are stored. Descriptive analysis of Mehdi Golshani's view of Islamic science provides an understanding that science cannot be reduced to the physical realm (material) but must be combined with the supernatural realm (religion) so that it becomes an inseparable whole.
"Against Frozen Dogmatic Beliefs": An Analysis of Ali Shariati's Revolutionary Thought Zulfikar, Muhammad

Abstract

This article aims to explore the idea of "against dogmatic beliefs" echoed by Ali Shariati. By using the critical analysis method, this study finds that the concept of Ali Shariati's revolution is based on Islam even though it is not Islam in the sense of a religion that only contains dogmatic teachings. The transformation of the concept of revolution requires the presence of an agent. This is where Ali Shariati gave the term rausyan fikr (enlightened intellectual) as an agent of revolution from the failure of the ulama who sold their religion to the ruling class. Meanwhile, in an effort to mobilize a revolution to destroy the regime of Syah Reza Pahlavi, Ali Shariati carried out massive movements in the form of speeches in academic pulpits and in public pulpits, writing books and in magazines. Ali Shariati's offer of an Islamic-revolutionary (socialist) pattern was finally successfully transformed into the foundation of the Iranian revolutionary movement.
