Abstract

Five variations of fibre coconut were used to find out the ability of the fibre to enhance the concrete tensile strength. The coconut fibre (1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% of the volume of the specimen) was added during mixing the concrete. the mix design of the concrete was done at 0,5 water cement ratio and 30-60 mm of slump value. SNI 03-2493-2002 was the standar that used for casting and curing the silinder (diameter/height;150/300 mm) while the split cylinder test was done according to SNI 03-2491-2002. The results showed that the addition of coconut fibre was significantly enhance the tensile strength of the fibre concrete. The correlation between the fibre and the tensile strength was given in quadratic equation which the correlation coeficient ( R2 ) was 0,982. The addition of 5% of the fibre enhanced the tensile strength up to 64,66% of the fibre concrete compared to the concrete without the fibre.

Abstract

This research described the result of laboratory investigation toward the performance of Asphalt Concrete Binder Course (AC-BC) mixture with three types gradation : above the fuller curve (mix. A), below the fuller curve (mix. B) and combination between above and below the fuller curve (mix. C). All of the mixtures were designed according to Marshall Method. Test results showed that all mixtures met the requirements from Asphalt Concrete Binder Course (AC-BC) mix properties according to Marshall Parameter. According Marshall method had optimum bitumen content 5,60% (mix A), 6,10% (mix B)) and 6,30% (mix C).

Abstract

The maintenance works of irrigation network are needed to maintain irrigation infrastructure to be well functioned and operable. The canals shall be defected due to natural causes which would make the dimension to become nonstandard, hence the effort to maintain the canals to be well functioned is needed to be conducted by the government by means of special maintenance. Maintenance shall be categorized into 4 types of activity, i.e. continuous maintenance, periodic maintenance, emergency maintenance and annual maintenance. Canals handlings shall not be conducted physically only hence the effort to increase the efficiency by means of operational and maintenance activity and by means of maintenance and upgrading of skill and knowledge of the farmers as water resource users shall be conducted following the physical maintenance, hence the farmers could solve their problem considering water usage management independently. The research was conducted by means of site research. It was expected that by the research, the effort to repair the defected or unserviceable canals as it was expected shall be conducted by the government and the water resource users.

Abstract

The research aimed at investigating of the influence of surface roughing at semi-precast slab to slab strength on the first crack and the ultimate, the slab strength ratio made monolithically and composite, and to investigate crack and failure pattern of composite slab. The testing was conducted on two groups of slab which has 1:1 scales. Each group consists of three. The first group was monolith slab as control speciment. The second group was composite slab withsurface roughing. The test was conducted on two step. The first step, speciment was loaded by the repeated center static loading (10 cycle), the second step, the speciment was loaded from zero and increased step by step until speciment failed. Testing results showed that the first crack load of composite slab was approximately 14,2 % (width of 200 mm), 10,61 % (width of 400 mm), and 22,64 % (width of 600 mm) less than monolith slab. The ultimate (failure) load of composite slab was about 32,2 % (width of 200 mm), 9,8 % (width of 400 mm), and 15,9 % (width of 600 mm) less than monolith slab. The cracks occurred at slab speciment was vertical cracks extending through tensile side. The crack was indicated flexural crack, while the kind of failure type occurred at slab speciment was flexural failure.
